Personally speaking, I believe the best route for a monarch in this world is becoming someone who can connect with the masses and bring loyalty out of your kindness and respect to the people around you. Most Lords in Westeros believe the Sword is mightier than then pen. Let Joffrey prove them otherwise.

Well unfortunately at least in recent history... the sword is mightier then the pen.
