Joffrey 4: The Northern Lords and a Road to Travel
The Manderly knights seemed less interested in you, though they did give small bows of respect. Ser Arys took a position behind you, a few feet away, sword hand resting on the hilt, but he was very calm and relaxed.
It was the other white-haired knight, Ser Rodrik Cassel who greeted you, along with… the boy.
"Hello, your grace," Roderik stated. "Thank you for arriving, and I apologize for my nephew's" He paused again, and you saw his nephew shaking with joy, his entire demeanor, what you believed was calm, was a youthful, joyous energy. "You can say his wish to meet the prince is rather… overwhelming."
Jory stood taller than you by quite a fair bit, and he crouched. "Hello, Prince Joffrey."
You raised an eyebrow. "Hi."
That made Roderik snort. "Back away from the boy Jory."
Jory did so. "Sorry uncle." He seemed more ashamed that he was scolded than anything else.
You frowned. "Why did you wish to come over to you, Jory?" The question asked as you took a deep breath. "Are you just struck blind by a prince?"
Jory laughed. "No, I just thought you would be taller… you are certainly more well-spoken than most boy princes and lords I know."
You blamed your mother for that. Well, Lord Arryn. "Blame my mother." You could not give Lord Arryn the credit… no not right now. If you did, and mother found out, she might try to get Lord Arryn sacked. And you did not want to have the man leave so soon. Your father still needed him.
That made both Northmen laughs. "I bet your mother is a horror tutor," Roderik stated.
You found yourself smiling. Yes, she was horrible at teaching… when she was not spoiling you, according to your father. "She is driven to see me well if nothing else."
"Well, praise Queen Cersei." Jory stated.
Then one of the Manderly knights stood up and started walking towards the group. "Oi Wyman, where you going?" one of the knights asked as you turned to face him.
Oh… another knight wanting to pay homage, you were going to go over there in a minute to-
Steel left a scabbard and a knife came sailing towards you.
The Baratheon Luck:
D100 => 90
But Jory Cassel tackled you to the ground, having the knife sail quietly over your head, harmlessly hitting the ground behind you.
"ASSASSIN!" Ser Arys shouted as steel drew and he charged the man who tried to murder you so quickly and… well if it were not Jory, you would be dead… or dying in the dirt.
"Jory, get the Prince to Safety!" Roderik ordered as he drew steel as you turned to see the assassin battling Ser Arys.
It was like staring at a ghost, the man's face was pale as death, with an unnatural gaze in its eyes. It was not a man, woman… it was a thing. The Stranger itself it seemed… along with a horrible blackness in its eyes.
A Blackness that made you feel cold. So horribly, terribly cold. Like winter had come south and the snows had yet to fall.
"Run now!" Arys ordered and you were carried by Jory. To Home.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
You were locked in your room and protected by Ser Boros as your father was shouting. "He was nearly killed, we must choose to send him away to protect him!"
"And we can't protect him if he is far away!" Your mother shouted back. "We cannot risk the life of our son by sending him away; he won't be safe!"
"He is not safe here!" Robert shouted. "Arys killed the man, and Varys proclaimed quite loudly that it was a Facelessman! Our boy will never be safe until we find the one who hired them, and tells them to rescind the contract!"
"We have to protect him!" your mother sounded hysterical, but… there was her mind working, scheming, and otherwise… trying to understand how she could protect you.
"Than we have to send him away, on the move." Robert stated. "That is the only way we can be certain the faceless men won't kill him immediately. He'll have to travel the realm incognito with a knight we trust."
"Traverse the lands like a Hedge knight?" Your mother scoffed. "With only a knight to protect him?"
"What else can he do? We cannot lock him up. He is going to be under constant threat… and he will need to be on the move to avoid that threat until we can sort this out."
"And how long will that take?" She asked.
Your father growled but softened his voice. "I'll fix this. I promise you Cersei."
It was hard to sleep that night. But you did sleep
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Your father proclaimed you would travel to the Realm, squireing for a knight of your choosing.
Or rather, your father's choosing, but you also get a choice as well.
Who do you Squire with:
[]Ser Jaimie Lannister: You are going to travel with Uncle Jaime, who while the second most high-profile man in the entire world in terms of knightly reputation, both good and ill… he is also family. Problem is, he straight up told Robert he would be returning to King's Landing once a year, for reporting, and allow your mother to see you.
[]Ser Arys Oakheart: The loyal right-hand man of the Kingsguard, in terms of valor, honor and duty. He is dedicated to his vows and protecting you. That he is also one of the first men in the world to actually kill a faceless man… you trust his skill. However, everyone knows he's killed a faceless man... and is considered the most logical choice.
[]Sandor Clegane: While not a knight, he does carry with him a good deal of discretion… that he also has… well not connections but he's a cunt. However, you are in need of a cunt who can murder people while protecting you with little hesitation. He is a loner… but one that hides a great deal… and you think he is a good man deep down.
[]Beric Dondarian: A follower of the Lord of Light, the Red God… he is… strange. But the Lightning Lord is one of your father's men and one that he trusts to keep you alive. There are also whispers of magical protections that he has… and he seems to always be around Thoros of Myr.
[]Write in (Any knight of the seven kingdoms that is not Breynden Blackfish, or a northern knight can be chosen, but they are up for my approval)
Jory Cassel has been given honors by your father, and wishes to join your retinue… do you let him?
[]Yes: He saved your life… he deserves it.
[]No: You think that… it would not be a good idea to travel with too many people. At least right now.
AN: Enjoy.
