I wish Gardener had made it to consolidation. It had so much potential, and we could have made jokes like "Came for the eternal quest for vengeance, stayed for the fishing and gardening" and "A Simple Transaction: Unlimited power, mechas, monsters, and... Gardening?"

Well, I suppose if Apex wins you can try tracking down that exact species of wurm and killing as many of them as you can in a desperate bid to trigger that option again. It might even work!

Still want to know what an EFB true diagram of essence built on top of an tower of ivory would be like. Probably will wonder for the rest of my life too.

Don't just stop there, here's a route we could've taken with the 20 BP we had on hand:

1. Pick Throne of Stars as our Dao (19 BP)
2. Go through PK maxing out Diagram stuff (3 BP, 5 for FB Titan)
3. Buy Truth as soon as we've got the necessary 7 MM points
4. Get the hypothetical maxed out EFB Essence Grand that could exceed All Paths with Diagram doubling. (13 BP due to the refund)
5. Truespell it and stick it on top of an FB Ivory Tower Vault (16* BP)
6. Forge a trans-Titanic Artifact for the Forge of the Nameless one, leverage that into massively trans-Titanic Artifacts to boost the Ivory Tower and another massively trans-Titanic Artifact for our Philosopher-King and Incarnation boosted doubled Further Beyond Even Further Beyond True Essence Grand Diagram.
7. Laugh

And then cry when you realise we'll never get to see what Rihaku would imagine up for that scenario.

Hunger could have ressurected his wife with just an lesser wish. I bet with Rune King and an magic system that allows ressurection, we can pull it off relatively fast.

While we were still in that world and making requests of the Accursed, sure. Cross dimensional resurrection that doesn't risk the attention of the Hidden Ones is likely harder, especially since we don't have any idea of their capabilities.

That's why we gotta take Once and Future!

On the topic of Gisena vs. wife and how we're going to be irrevocably changed by our experiences, that is an important consideration. But I would be careful about making this argument, because that very same thing applies to anyone without Progression.

If we will grow too far apart from our wife, in both power and perception, then what saves Gisena from suffering the same fate? We didn't take Retinue, the most impressive potential-sharing option we've seen so far, and even that would have only helped her advance in her field of expertise, not in everything as ours allows us to.

Personally I'd like to stay optimistic about this. Even the Accursed for all his unimaginable power and suffering seems to have retained some measure of humanity, we can surely find it in us to do the same and connect to our former comrades and wife again.

I like giving sage counsel and shit to Ritz, Hunger's already used to being down an eye, no reason not to get something for a price he already paid.

With Search for Humans now winning on the number of votes as well as arguments, you guys should seriously consider switching to Apex, which grants social bonuses via Rank and strength vs human-scale opponents via a mixed blend of STR and AGI! Especially as Rune King seems to be controversial. Why not kick the can down the line with Apex and maintain the veneer of civility that this thread desperately needs!?

Because Gisena will still be there for it. She will see the development of Hunger, participate in it, and who he is will be who she knows him to be.

If you went into a 50 year coma and when you woke up your best friend was God, capital G, and had been for pretty much the whole time you were out, the gulf between who they are now and who they were when last you knew them would be nigh-insurmountable. If your BFF's other friend was there all along though, they would probably not have an issue with that relationship because they were able to observe and respond to the changes dynamically.

That isn't to say that we mightn't part ways with companions such as Gisena at some point anyway, because however close you are with someone 937 octillion years is a LONG FUCKING TIME and it's not their curse to have to bear. But still, it'd be an organic departure.

Gardner was an awesome option, unfortunately I don't think we had the time to make it useful in this dungeon.

We either have to finish this temple before the Curse starts back up, or be well on our way to dominating it. Otherwise a bad proc of it will destroy us in this high level area. I'm hoping the break here for information will give us the knowledge for an faster overall clear time.

Also here's my plan for Search for Humans. We Search for them and find them without them seeing us, should be doable since they will presumably be in a larger group.

We use our pressure to drive a group of monsters towards them.

We swoop in to save them thereby earning their gratitude.

We have Gisena talk to them while we stand there being mysterious.

It uses the time honored dungeon tradition of training to our advantage!

I was writing an omake about just that, but then there is the immesurable disappointment that whatever I come up with would never be as cool as whatever cool power Rihaku would think of.

Hell, there are even more possibilities! What would happen if we truespelled ivory tower? Was there an possibility of an EFB equivalent of ivory tower?

Perhaps we could even have achieved Logos with enough investment in diagram.

On top of that, the bonus of Philosopher King, not only in power, but the character arc of Nameless going beyond just looking after diagram because it was cool, but actually becoming an better person thanks to it, becoming an Philosopher-King true.

Imagine filling all of our slots with combat-relevant diagrams, the final battle between the Thorne of stars true versus the endless Sky, of cultivation vs diagram, all of our spells slots filled, using countless exotic effects to try ad defeat the Kong, on top of the empire that we shaped helping us...

Aaaaaand now I'm salty again. Damn.

That sounds... pretty dubious. This already assumes we're stronger than them, they can't detect our Pressure, they've got no way of knowing we're linked to the monsters, and that they'd be willing to work with us and split the loot. Compare this to Sweeping the Outskirts, which allows us to ambush the knights and figure out what fuels their rudimentary intelligence. Besides-- taking more picks means we have a higher chance of pursuing a multi-pick option (such as the highly contested ones seen here).

Also, vote Stranglethorn, everybody. Gardener was cool-- Stranglethorn has plant motifs, they're basically the same! Rihaku's compelled me to vote Apex too-- and honestly we may actually be tunnelling a bit too hard on the options before us. If we're not going hard (that is to say, big fucking tree), then there's nothing to do but to go Apex!

That might make it even worse, seeing her friend (or whatever our relationship will be) grow so much beyond her that equal communication becomes nigh impossible. It's not about whether she can accept it happened, it's about them being practically on different planes of existence despite standing next to each other.

The difference in power ranks between our dead wife and Gisena will become meaningless to us at some point, is what I'm saying, so if we want to maintain relationships, they're the same class of problem and we should concentrate on making connections that survive our power jumps.

I will have to respectfully disagree. Indeed, something like that would be interesting to see in practice and work past, if it does happen.

Nameless was still perfectly human by the time he become stronger than everyone and honestly, in Rihakuverse +Int and +Wis upgrades are always among the rarest from the look of it.

Mmm, that sweet, sweet Rank.

Do you want to fight better? Rank.
Do you want to navigate dungeon better? Rank.
Do you want to keep running into level appropriate opponents? Rank.
Do you want that hilariously broken FOR/Prominence combo? Rank.

Indeed, Human Sphere discovered an ancient Foremost helpdesk manual, which had just one entry - lov'nat ai teka oper mvo Tuuv

After years of translation, they've realized that this means "Have you tried getting more Rank?".

Apex offers not only social bonuses for the interaction itself, but a greater chance of encountering a favorable group of humans! Rank is so useful!

I'm willing to join an anti-Rune King faction that champions Apex instead. Any takers? We've got confirmation it's best with look for humans, and it leaves us Arete for magic system buying. Also Rank Good and what not.

I'm willing to join literally any faction that defeats Rune King. But I do not have it in me to argue any more.

Honestly, if the conclusion here is that Hunger shouldn't care about romantic shit than I am perfectly fine with it, Revenge-Chan and Power-chan were always closest to my heart anyway.

I just dislike Gisena and prefer any alternative to her.

I'm willing to flop back to Root or switch to an Apex build, Sharp seems like a lost cause now that I catch up with the vote tallies/discussion.

also, on the waifu discussion: Man, talking about shiny new waifus when Hunger has a wife with whom he wanted to start a family with, and who sacrificed her life and the life of their unborn child for, just seems like maximum disrespect. I don't hate Gisena, but I want to know what Hunger's wife was like too.

I think I know why Hunger is so tsundere about Gisena. One voter half wants her, the other disdains her, the result...

Hunger: I-it's not like I like you or anything, s-stupid!

I'm not going to swap to Apex, because Stranglethorn is my one and only love (the rest are only my likes). However, I do appreciate that, if it does win, EchoX2 will have won three build votes in a row. Rihaku did tell us Echospam was good... I guess we'll stop doing it when it stops working?
