I'm partial to Form of Rage if Quickest & Conservative win. Half a Rank makes for a hell of a panic button, and tripling all attributes is... really good, especially depending on what we pick here. Fall of Night's fairly cheap and addresses both strength and stamina issues. Iridescence is great if we're taking Gisena into the Temple, but leaving Letrizia undefended and unhealed sounds like a good way to emerge victorious only to find her corpse. Pearlescence's great if we want to walk away from this, collecting what consolation prizes are available to us and moving on.

Form of Rage is a good panic button; but the moment we trigger it we basically have to leave. I'd rather buy something that improves our chances directly.

Shoring up our offensive power or physical attributes is simply too important from where we stand right now

What convinced me to vote for The Ring of Power is that it's also pretty amazing in the long run. Dominion + Chief dominion potentially comes with +Progression while also giving us some serious power against living enemies. On top of that, it allows us to get The Ruling Ring eventually, which it seems comes potentially with a prepackaged plot hook.

If we trigger it and slay our foe we might get a 3-pick option, though. Down an Arete and Tired but up a 3-pick option doesn't seem like an impossible position to continue from. I think our Second Stage would be restored to use again, but can't be certain.

Pearlescence is fantastic long-term, you couldn't possibly tear me away from that scaling Protection if we weren't in this situation. Alas. Iridescence gets points for that sweet Gisena combo move, so if we have Arete to spare (lol) after the main picks it's be nice.

Interlocking ringboosts are cool, Dominion>Preeminence gives +All Stats when doing... War, gotta be War, which is very nice, and +.5 Rank. Chief Dominion is also fantastic, but it's too much investment in too narrow a path right now. Level-appropriate robots would destroy us... wait, no, I guess we could Ring of Power in advance to bend the world so we meet appropriately blood-having enemies? With Apocryphal deactive for two weeks, it can't contest that... Hm. And we could save for Ring of Power while still spending now.

Fall of Night feels like exactly what we need right now. Kinda keystone like, we have speed and cleverness but our power is shit, and this turns us into a murderblender, taking advantage of our special attacks. Appropriate for a conjunctional advance?

Form of Rage... triples all attributes for battle and gives +1 Rank. Screw everything else, I want this, and we should juice our stats to make it better. Grab all Echos. Yes, we can only pop it once. Since this place is a deathtrap, I like the idea of going in, doing our best, popping Rage when we're fucked, getting great loot for winning a battle over our level, and getting the fuck out. Risky in the sense that Rage is unreliable, and we're screwed if we have another fight afterward, but less so than going through normally, I think. Other downside: our friends might die first, so there's that. Ah, trauma.

Clearly, we should just train ourselves to react with overwhelming rage when ambushed, at the fools that dare strike at us...

I want to remind everyone we are currently in Mid Ranks, so the highest rank boosts we can get out of these options is +0.5, and always at a steep Arete cost. I don't think anything more than Dominion would be worth it, really.

I really don't want to risk that considering Tired is literally a penalty to all our actions. Bleeding Arete or losing advancements is kind of the opposite of what we are here for anyway. I want something that helps us win out right, not just presume we lose no matter what and so buy stuff for that inevitability. I'm less than impressed by these Arete purchases, really.

Good heavens look at the time, it's ~powerup o'clock~! Also wow we sure made some bad life choices, huh?

Iiii dunno about this, but maybe taking the tanky upgrades'll make this possible? Pearlescence -> fight LOTS OF KAIJU -> scale up 'fore going to temple -> ??? -> profit. Trying to match artifacts 'n routes. Does ring or sword fit better w/being The Danger?

Fall of Night looks excellent; that plus Undying Vanguard would do a lot for us.
Undying Vanguard is a defensive option when we need offense, but Fall of Night helps patch that and it allowing us to take Gisena with us more easily as well as have her be more active in combat helps out a great deal in our killing power.

Our offensive power is more lacking at the moment; Sky will keep us alive, but we will struggle to secure skills on similarly powerful opponents.

Tired isn't that bad. It's not something you want when facing a final boss but it's not that significant a debuff. The main risk is that it leads to being Exhausted if you continue to push.

Though, I wouldn't discount the options you already have! Echo of the Forebear spam + A Thousand Cuts is also a great build, and its effectiveness is no less just because there are new shinies. On the other hand, a Ring build would let you save towards an EFB-equivalent much more easily, with Chief Dominion additionally granting +Progression outright within its purview!

And you resist falling damage! Such value...

And only a few side effects, puny Banner!

And I thought Seralize was entitled!

Hmm. I wonder if Dominion + Chief Dominion would potentially allow us to create minions or augment our companions in some way at some point? It might also also us to regenerate from our injuries?

I can't keep track of what's going on here and trust @Byzantine to vote for things that are relatively unlikely to kill us or make regrettable unnecessary sacrifices.

Hm, there's also Vanguard + Opalescence + another 2 Arete effect if we can afford it by the time fecal matter meets fan. Buff Gisena into an off-tank, heal Letrizia so she can stay outside/fight off Astral creatures. Opalescence means dispel resistance and added tankiness for our party members, better teamwork with the ability to tank Tide of Nullity once. This spec doesn't give us the best odds of clearing the Temple, though Gisena may help with puzzle bosses or something. But it does give us a good chance of all surviving it, and negates the malus of not healing Letrizia with Quickest.

The sharp light of the stars before which all malice is lessened.

+Protection, +Charisma. Expands the range of effects subject to the Evening Sky, allowing it to passively weaken almost all forms of magic. Even Nullity itself can be once withstood before the Sky recedes.
Pearlescence - 7 Arete

Woe unto they who would stand against the bearer of Evening, for all the stars in heaven are their enemies, and the moon above as well.

That a frog in a well should leap at the moon, means only that they will never reach it.

+++Protection, and the protection granted by the Evening Sky now automatically scales to its wearer's power; effectively, the wearer is granted an additional Experience modifier whose output is automatically applied to the Evening Sky.

Requires Iridescence.
And we're getting options for resisting magic dispellation once more, the second even talking directly about the moon being the enemy while we're heading for the Temple of the False Moon and presumably making our Nullity resistance scale with our power.

I'm probably descending into paranoia and this is just thanks to Gisena being our party member. But even if my suspicions prove to be baseless, the Temple doesn't sound like something we can just wham and bam. Whether we take Gisena along or not, I'd rather improve our esoteric defenses to prolong our stay there - the 10% enhancement from Quickest only lasts till we retreat, so lengthening our stay benefits us.

This is talking about the moon being the enemy of our enemies since we're the bearer of Evening. "Woe unto they who would stand against the bearer of Evening "
It's rather fitting for clearing the Temple of the False Moon I should think!

Oh but you did vote for Evening Sky so maybe I'm misreading your post and that was already your interpretation?

Yeah, noticed I misread that after posting that. >.<

Still, the moon connection is there as you said it.
