Heck, you even want to completely disregard the other fixers in the office doing this

Yes? They're meatshields, why would I care about them?

The office is not the low level fixers that are going to die here, the only important parts for it are us, our bosses, and Parvati since she already has shown she is motivated, all the rest? Expendable.

you didn't even try to specific where the heck the choke point would be in the office.

Because Ciel would know where the best place for it better than me?
1. How are we going to explain that plan in the middle of a pitched fight? Things are loud as hell right now.

2. Why would they listen to us? We are literally a random low grade fixer, we don't have the charisma or rep to get them to listen.

3. Fighting retreats are something trained soldiers have a hard time pulling off. A bunch of fixers with no training in fighting as a group, up against a mob? We'll be mulched.

I can accept these points, but:

-in these kinds of situation, Naron tends to make us vote for all the participants, it would not be impossible to have us vote for it and the actual plan be told by one of our bosses, the actual problem is the sound, and that applies to any plan anyway.

-yeah, fighting retreat is difficult, but we don't need to all survive, just the best members.

Anyway, since the moratorium seems to be over, I am going to propose my vote, with one things in mind:

Keep
It
Simple
Stupid

The *go outside and hope we arrive in time, make a big enough distraction, and manage to not die horribly in two seconds after that* don't follow this principle, let's just:

[X] Fight
-[X] You were a rat, you know how to overwhelm people with superior numbers and surprise. Now you know what to watch for.
-[X] Step back, watch for people being overwhelmed or flanked. Dart in to keep the pressure off them and step back before you get overwhelmed in turn. You may not know how to fight, but you are an expert at jumping people with a pipe.

Was about to write my own, but this work well enough.

Apologies, I was busy earlier. The moratorium is obviously over by now.
@Naron, do my estimates sound about right?
You are correct that the majority of this lot are not augmented. Whether anyone of them has an augment, Ciel can not say.

@Naron Can I ask about the layout of the office and surrounding area?
The office is mostly an open space, though there are a number of desks and other furniture spaced out across the room. Two rooms, the second of which is used for storage (of mostly paperwork) and notably smaller.

Outside of the office is narrow streets and a number of decently sized buildings; the neighbourhood does not go skyhigh, but most of it is big. Dexter's Office is in a three-storey building, on the ground floor.

I feel like venting a little. This is faintly thematic and my Thread, so sue me.

To give you an overview of the last eight hours for me in a single image:

Now in detail: the reason I was not around to 'officially' end the moratorium on time is that I was trying to make Limbus Company work. Unfortunately, there is one little issue: my desktop computer is stuck at Windows 8.1; I tried many times to upgrade it to Windows 10 over the last year, but that upgrade failed every time. The error I got had no solutions online, either.

Knowing this, I had prepared BlueStacks to emulate the Android app instead. Guess what also does not work?

So yeah. With this out of the window, I went to my next option: a friend recently recommended Manjaro, a Linux distribution, in general. I was planning to upgrade soon-ish, but felt I might as well do it now. Guess which Steam game does not run on Linux? And guess if a BlueStacks alternative on Linux actually runs Limbus Company?

I was then stuck for several hours trying to make Linux behave. The one thing I brought it in right now for, it did not do. I did not want to set up on a new system right now without that benefit, so back to the previous status quo I went. However, it should be noted that I do not generally root around in the BIOS menus; figuring out how to even boot up Windows again took a while. My saving grace there was that I dual booted Linux instead of just overwriting. From there I kicked Manjaro back off my system and made another installation USB for Windows 10; one final attempt, this time even at the risk of all my files. Failed. At least I got to keep the files.

Thankfully, I had a final strike of inspiration at some point. In expectation of that failure, I prepared to set up a Virtual Machine that emulates Windows 10. It is named "LimbusSlave" because its literally only purpose is to run this game for me. And it does, right now the download for content is running.

So yes. I have achieved my goal in the end. At least the story of how I got there makes for a mildly interesting tale.

Edit: just to note, my system refusing the upgrade is also why I could not play Elden Ring on launch, and have still not been able to play it. I refused to let this repeat with Limbus Company.

Ouch, glad that things at least worked out in the end and you were able to play. Hope it continues to work for you and godspeed

The machine spirits were angry

...
Well, at least you can play the game?

But seriously, that was quite a series of events, praise the omnissiah it ended!

I probably won't play the game soon myself, prefer waiting for all patches and additions to end (or at least haze enough of them already there to make sure the story is really running), am on another game right now anyway (and tends to only play one thing at once), and am waiting for the general reaction once it's really up and running.

Erm, you will have to wait a long time for that. From what I recall of a particular interview, Limbus Company is supposed to be expanded for years to come and secure a revenue stream for Project Moon to put into other projects.

From dipping my toes into the prologue, I can definitely tell you the fights feel like Ruina but with even more polish and some streamlining.

This seems like the best way to help at the moment given the lack of time to prep.

[X] Fight.
-[X] Spartan Formation Plan; Ciel suggests a quick attack plan: the office is probably in disarray and needs at least some guidance: he suggests that those who are considered the fastest go to the front, followed from behind by those who have a chance to hit hard. That way, they should rotate as a formation. Let them be a wall and take advantage of the space to push forward.
-[X] Make your teammates stay together, they should avoid being taken separately. Being like a wall, they should in theory prevent your teammates from being flanked in any way. Give the window a glance from time to time to avoid an ambush.
-[X] Shortly after the initial collision, use your legs to run as fast as possible, jump to the front and perform an attack that separates your enemies. That should overwhelm them for at least a second. Take the opportunity to turn back again and repeat. Cover or help where others seem to be having trouble, you have fast legs, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

So, let's be a little more organized. Let's stick together and make Ciel a general support unit while from time to time he goes fast to the front to make a general forceful attack where there are more groups of enemies. Let's take advantage of the space. Maybe Ciel can also be more attentive in giving orders. The group attacking us is larger than us, so we will need at least some semblance of a plan or someone to give specific orders in case Dexter is not the type to do that sort of thing. Sticking together will give us a small guarantee of safety; there will be openings that others can take advantage of, and the group attacking us is likely to go more "every man for himself" relying on numbers rather than anything concrete.

[X] Fight.
-[X] Try to lead them into chokepoints. If there are none, try to convince everyone to stay together and watch each other's backs. Keep an eye on the enemies and try to pick out those who seem to move faster, hit harder, etc. to figure out who has augments, then call them out for Dexter and Rookwood. Take advantage of your augments and play it safe, wait until Dexter and Rookwood are finished with the actual threats and keep the rabble of of them as they do that

Is this okay?

Oof, tech issues huh. Glad I didn't have to face that.

My experience with limbus is... hmm...

I think it's a decent game, but it suffers from being a gacha, and there were some narrative cheap shots that I can't say I like too much. We do learn more about the lore though (For example, the first stage go a bit into the G Corp and the smoke war), it's just gonna be a pain to get useful info because the story is told in multiple pieces and there is a lot of fluff so far. The terrible tutorial didn't help much, and I'm honestly still missing a good chunk of the mechanics despite having LoR knowledge, but I guess that is just part of the course for a LoR-based game play.

Would have preferred a standalone game, but it is what it is I guess.

Erm, you will have to wait a long time for that.

I know, part of it is a thing I was hesitant to say, but since Metarite went and said something similar:

It's a gacha, and I dislike the very idea of gatcha, the game is going to need a lot to make me really seriously consider investing time into it, and money's right out.

So I'm not even sure I'll play it at all rather than wait for other actual games without a system that encourages broken unfinished stories in the first place.

Fair enough, I guess. I was blown away by the first two games, so that made me perfectly willing to give Limbus the benefit of the doubt. The only thing that could have kept me away would have been if they made it mobile-only.

Of note, I am not planning to spend money on it either. Beyond maybe a double-digit amount that I would normally pay for a good game.

No regretting spending money on it, its fantastic for me.
They actually give you a lot of currency for rolling characters, So if you really want to go free to play it's perfectly fine.
Story is really enjoyable, as always.

Ya, I don't plan on spending any money on it, probably won't spend too much time on it too, depending. I think the devs did a great job in essentially making gacha mobile LoR, all things considered. And there is actually a lot of LoR-style art involved during the opening chapter. Character designs are pretty well done too, and characters are pretty eccentric and unique(?), though some characters really suffer from having a prominent single personality trait.

I will play a bit further to see if it reaches a point when I actually need to do tactics though, cuz I think they actually streamlined that part out a bit too well, that it became a color matching/find the favoured attack to use instead of the strategical combat in LoR. Which they kinda have to do for a casual mobile game... but still.

Edit: Oh, but seeing new Abnormalities and beating the shit out of them is genuinely pretty fun though. I kinda just want more of that.

i love Ryōshū, She is such a bitch.
outis is a two face ass kisser who can say her coworkers are living garbage with no emotion involved and I love that.

All this talk about Limbus is making me curious. Is it actually worth it to do the battle pass? Since so far the EGO that we have seems, lackluster and thats about the only thing that I can see from the battlepass. And I agree about the strategy thing. I just went through hell trying to beat Malkuth's Floor Realization, so it feels jarring to go from keeping track of the speed dies, Light, page count etc. to just, chain the same colors.
