[x] ...let them argue. You have the strangest feeling you don't want in the middle of that.
"She needs to see the Admiral."
"She just came back! Arizona should..."
"You saw the Admiral when you came back, Langley."
"But I was summoned with him."
"So?"
Your head spun, as you watched Langley and Adm...Captain...Anderson argue. Part of you was tempted to jump in and try and get some answers. That mention of 'summoning' especially intrigued you. What did they mean? Were you purposely brought back? Perhaps for the war you had heard mentioned? Moreover, what did they mean by Missouri? Was that BB-63? It would make sense. Surely, the Admiral would be stationed on the newest battleship in the fleet. You found it hard to believe that BB-63, Missouri, wasn't the newest flagship in the fleet after all.
That aside, you weren't particularly inclined to jump headfirst into the argument either. Something told you that those two wouldn't appreciate it. Maybe it was Langley's grip on your arm. Regardless, you merely watched and waited, hoping that they would eventually tell you something to work with. It would be nice...to have a goal to work towards.
"Admiral, I don't want Arizona to be overwhelmed." Langley was saying, yellow eyes daring the redhaired officer to disagree with her.
"Neither do I, which is why we need to see the Admiral." Captain Anderson shot back. "He can tell Arizona everything she needs to know."
"Except why she came back like this."
"Well, I doubt anyone could tell her that. And taking her to the summoning expert is not a good idea."
Langley looked like she wanted to debate that point, but instead, her shoulders slumped. The carrier looked every bit her age, as she turned her eyes on you.
"Arizona?"
"Yes?" You hesitantly replied.
"I'm sorry that we were ignoring you."
Before Langley could continue, Captain Anderson snorted softly, "Yeah, by arguing like a married couple. Not helping the rumors there Langley."
The blonde sent a deadpan look at her Captain, before turning back to face you, "In any case, do you want to see the Admiral? I could take you to the dorms instead, if you would rather rest. You can stay with me tonight, until we can assign you a room."
"Not a good idea Langley." Anderson warned, "We need to take her to the Admiral. Protocol..."
"Protocol has it's place." Langley shot back. "And right now, I want Arizona to be happy, first and foremost."
There was a motherly tone in the carrier's voice, as she smiled softly at you. Returning the smile, you looked between the two once more. You weren't entirely happy with the choice being dropped on you like that. You barely knew enough to make a choice. Not to mention, making a choice for yourself? Not your Captain...captain...
Admiral Kidd. Captain Van Valkenburgh. They...
Shaking your head, you sent a weak smile at a clearly concerned Langley. You shouldn't focus on regrets right now. Better to give an answer to the question they had asked you. And really, both appealed to you in different ways. Going to Langley's room to sleep? You were tired. You had never felt tired before, but you assumed it was what you felt now. Resting sounded...well...nice, in a way. And Langley was so nice, to offer her own room for that.
On the other hand...
You also needed to see the Admiral. You knew that, deep down. You were still a United States Navy warship. That meant certain things had to be followed. And that included seeing the commanding officer of the base you were stationed at. Or woke up in, as the case may be. Not to mention you were more likely to get answers to your remaining questions, if you went with Captain Anderson's suggestion.
Who to listen to?
[] Langley. You need to rest, even you know that.
[] Anderson. Protocol needs to be followed.
