A Light in Darkness (Supernatual XCOM Quest)

Sweet, added Hiring 4 Engineers to my plan to max discounts for individual construction next turn.

@Hannz can I ask why you're keeping the Generator Construction in your plan? We're only using 12/30 power without other facilities, yet you're spending almost half our budget on more power we're not going to use for multiple turns. Especially with this change in the Engineers mechanics, if you wait till after we hire more we'd decrease the cost by 25%.

It's really my main issue with your plan.
Believe it or not, I actually misread the stat pages and thought we were working with minimal power. Gonna go remove it now.

Turn 1.2, Mission Select.
You gave out your orders and had the Satellites deployed in orbit above the United States and Japan, giving you better coverage and hopefully adding some extra cash. Hagane already had the Motion Tracker built and had her crew were working on building the new Interceptor, while Dr. Vale and Felix were working on creating some new weapons and studying up on Monster Lore. The new Scientists, Engineers, and Mystics arrive after a week and settle in or try to help with the current projects.

(+4 Scientists, +2 Mystics, +4 Engineers. USA: +$160 per Turn, Japan: +$150 per Turn. +1 Motion Tracker)

As for getting more Funding, the Council was waiting for you to prove that you could handle the task and was going wait until three successful operations until giving anymore funding than what you would get normally.

(Additional Funding Will Be Given After Three Successful Missions)

Speaking of missions, there was surprisingly little activity, it had be twenty eight days since you began scanning and not a blip of anything has shown up on the hologlobe. You were starting to wonder if the system was experiencing a bug when you got two alerts. The first was in the United States in a small suburban area. According to the data coming in about the area, numerous folks were found drained of their blood and... oh crap, one of the attacks were caught on tape. A man was attacked at a gas station and a security camera caught a glimpse at what Felix identified as a feral vampire, one that has completely lost itself to bloodlust and was now just a very dangerous animal. The mission was simple, close in on the vampire's lair and eliminate it. The other alert was in your backyard, turns out a large number of ghouls were raised by a novice necromancer. You can send a squad to both, but who would you send? You could also just ignore the vampire to focus squarely on the ghouls, but that'll raise the panic in the US and the rest of North America.

Hey ShieldCrown.
Can we add write-in actions?
sure.

Okay, four each should be fine. No real preference on composition since there's minimal info on all of them, but I figured I'd send the Americans to the America mission.

Could we get their aim score?

Edit: I'm fine with either or.
Also, will there be a fatigue mechanic?

This seems interesting, though I wonder exactly how satellites help us. In XCOM, it was because there were UFOs flying around; here it seems that more terrestrial information gathering techniques would be more useful. Still, that's nitpicky of me.

Also looking forward to seeing what you're planning for air combat.

all have an Aim stat of
65

I didn't plan on including one.

There are quite a few mythical creatures who can fly, someof which are big.

So we're going to both? okay, which do you want to do "first"?
I think I'd like to start with whatever's the closest to "standard" missions in this Quest. Like if we're usually going to hunt individual monsters, then let's go with the vampire. If we often eliminate packs of gribblies, then the zombie horde.

Operation: Frozen Thorn. pt.1
January 28th, 20XX.
Ohio, United States
6:00 p.m.

You watch through the mission cameras attached to each of your troops as they move out of the Skyranger and head over to the front of the house. It was two stories tall and most likely had a basement and attic. According to reports a family of three had wanted to buy the house, but they "luckily" they "found" a better deal. You knew better though and figured someone pulled some strings to make sure no one interfered. Each trooper was equipped with assault rifles, pistols, and a grenade. Joseph was on point with Amelia, Lena, and Luna following close behind. The squad of rookies line up next to the front door, two on each side. "No signs of activity Commander." Joseph radios in. "What are our orders sir?"

You look over the map you managed to get of the house.

The vampire is likely in the basement, probably the darkest part of the house. Though the attic is a possibility now that you think about it.

[X] Plan How the fuck am i perceiving stopped time while planning this!? Williams Explain!
Turn 1: Open the door
Two soldiers to the left door and two to the right. If anything happens everyone is close enough to run and support.

Once you set 3 guys with an overwatch accidentally open a door with the fourth because XCOM EU cannot into mouse.

Turn 2: Open both doors, if all is clear move the right pair to check the closet. The left pair is still close enough to get into the room and support if anything goes awry. Overwatch(OW).
If all is good...
Turn 3:
Secure upstairs with the left pair(OW) and move the right pair closer.

Turn 4:
Go up.

All shneekkeh like.

Why were we not given the chance to equip the motion tracker?

Because this is not some old sci fi flick we are watching here.
This is real, brutal, kitten eating life we are talking about!

Yeah, no. I refuse to believe that's an actual house someone lives in. The amount of empty space is ridiculous, but whatever.

Thinking: Vampire is probably unaware we're here unless he has special detection abilities. Let's play it safe and assume he does. Let's check out all doors on this floor before we go either down or upstairs.
[X] Plan Phantom Blood
Turn 1: Joseph opens the door quietly. The rest proceeds inside. Everyone except Joseph goes into overwatch. Joseph proceeds inside and opens the door to the east (right) side of the building, then goes on overwatch.
Turn 2: Joseph and Amelia proceed into the room that Joseph opened. Amelia makes sure not to block the door, then goes on overwatch at an angle in which the closet is well within vision. Joseph opens it. If nothing is inside, they go outside the room. If there's a tango, Joseph opens fire, and, assuming Amelia went into overwatch - she does too. Meanwhile, Luna and Lena check all other rooms except the ones that lead to the basement and upstairs. They do it slowly, going on overwatch as necessary to ensure they shoot up any tangos.
Turn 3: If nothing has been found, split into two teams, both of two people. Team 1 will guard the stairway and exit, while Team 2 proceeds upstairs while exercising utmost caution.
Strategy: Since we're dealing with a vampire, I assume he is good at stealth and melee. He must be a bitch in close range and we can't let him suck the blood of our troops because it will likely heal him. This means we need two soldiers to be in visual confirmation of each other at all times. If he starts sucking on one, the other shoots the bastard.

It honestly slipped my mind, remember, first time doing a quest of this style. I'm used to doing God Games.
Just as a disclaimer.

If one of our soldiers sees the vampire and happens to panic, I expect them to say something like: "Holy vampire hunters, stakin' for Jesus!" Please, should anyone panic, make it happen. Thank you.
