You look over the reports as your flight transports you to what will be your new home. You were chosen to lead an international taskforce made for the purpose of protecting mankind from the things that go bump in the night. You were surprised to learn that things like vampires, werewolves, demons, witches, and the like exist. The taskforce had yet to be given a proper name, as it was something rather thrown together, which also meant that funding might, no, will be an issue as things start out. It was to be expected however, after all, why spend all this money and resources on things that most people don't even think is real? Speaking of which, that was another aspect of your new assignment, keeping the secret world a secret.
Because of this, you and your new subordinates will need to be careful and keep collateral damage to a minimum until that part of your mission is removed for whatever reason. Another thing is that materials of a paranormal nature were going to be quite hard to come by outside of what you could recover from the field, so it your troops are likely going to be fighting inhuman monsters with whatever your funding and engineering facilities can handle. On the bright side, you weren't the only organization out there doing their damn best to defend humanity. Though on the other hand, those organizations probably aren't going to take you very seriously at first, most likely seeing you as an upstart who doesn't yet understand the forces they're dealing with.
They would be right of course, but still. You feel the aircraft, a prototype rapid response troop transport leant to your taskforce, land and the troop bay doors open to a large hanger bay with enough space for the "Skyranger" and four interceptors. You were greeted by a man kitted out for combated. "Welcome to HQ Commander, we're still setting up but most of our facilities are up and running. I'm Central Officer Williams. My role here is twofold, providing tactical support for our field operations, and keeping you briefed on the current situation." he said, and you can't help but feel that those lines were rehearsed or something.
Anyway, Williams leads you through some of the already active facilities such as the Barracks and Armory. It was when you got to the Research Labs that you met more of your staff. You saw two people, one being a woman with a tablet tucked under her arm, and the other was a grey haired man wearing a black suit with a silver pin with some odd engraving on it. The two appeared to be in some form of discussion. They both noticed you and Williams and put a halt to their conversation.
"Commander, It is a pleasure to meet you. I am Doctor Alexandria Vale and I am head of the project's scientific research and development team." said Alexandria before nodding towards the man in the suit.
"Greetings Commander! I am Edward Felix Anderson, head of the more mystical side of things here in our little order of monster hunters." the man introduced himself. "While Dr. Vale and our head of engineering handle augmenting our troops with tech, my artificers and I will endeavor to enhance them through more unconventional means." You nod, guessing those unconventional means were related to magic or other supernatural things.
After that, Williams takes you down to engineering as Dr. Vale and Anderson continue their conversation where it left off. "The mystic facility, or "Sanctum" as Anderson calls it, isn't active yet so he and his people have been staying with our research staff, a few people had some discussions over the supernatural, Vale and Anderson included." Explained Williams.
When you arrived to Engineering you saw a woman in an engineering uniform working on one of the machines, a fabricator you think. "Come on, work with me... There!" she said as she did something and the fabricator started up.
She got up after closing the panel she was working on and turned around, and giving a squeak of surprise at seeing you and Williams. "Oh, Commander and C.O. Williams, I didn't hear you come in! Welcome to Engineering, I'm Hana Hagane, I'm the head of Engineering. Down here we can build whatever the labs can think up, provided we have the necessary resources of course. Though if you want anything magical, you're going to need to chat with Felix." Hana said.
After that, Williams took you to Mission Control, a room filled with monitors and techs manning them, along with a massive holographic. "This is Mission Control, Commander. From here you can scan for supernatural activity and deploy our troops via the Skyranger. We currently lack the means of procuring another Skyranger due to its experimental nature, so we can't handle more than one operation outside the nation our HQ resides in. We can however deploy multiple teams within that nation's borders."
Now that you thought about it, where was your HQ located?
[]- U.S.A, North America: Air & Space. All aircraft and aircraft weapons cost 50% less to purchase, build and maintain.
[]- Philippines, Asia: Future Combat. All projects in the Foundry and the Officer Training School cost 50% less
[]- Poland, Europe: Expert Knowledge. Laboratories and Workshops cost 50% less to build and maintain.
[]- Congo, Africa: All In. Monthly project funding increased by 30%
[]- Brazil, South America: We Have Ways. Autopsies and Interrogations are completed instantly
Well, glad that was cleared up. Williams takes you to one last room. "Hagane calls it the "Situation Room", here we can keep track of all the Council Nations "Panic Levels". Along with this, she had what the men have begun calling the "Doom Tracker", letting us know how many members o the council have fully withdrawn funding from the project. If too many nations withdraw, the project will be scraped." said Williams. You sighed, looks like you had your work cut out for you. "Oh, and Commander? The Council has finally agreed on a name. its..."
What is the Project's name?
