[X] Travel to the Power Plant - A large power plant that produces much of Kanto's electricity, it is home to several electric-type Pokemon.
We want to pick up a Magnemite at the Power Plant as Magnezone fills both our slot for a special attack sweeper, and covers all of Dragonite's weaknesses which is why Magnezone is a staple on competitive Dragonite teams.Hmm, I'm ok with taking an action to call the parents but would prefer to move on, but I'm not sure if we want to go to the power plant for an electric type or travel through Mt. Moon to get to Pewter and the next badge.
Chansey/Blissey learn Teleport.[X] Travel to the Power Plant - A large power plant that produces much of Kanto's electricity, it is home to several electric-type Pokemon.
Still want a cute Magnet, plus we do need an answer to fairies if we are going to Mount Moon at any point later.
Longer run though, I want a Teleporter that allows us to revisit cities.
We'll be heading down the coast for the next several locations so we'll be able to learn underwater cave diving at any of those places. I'd suggest you get a head start on your other plans instead as a result like getting Willow as a companion.[X] Learn to Swim - While you do know how to swim, there is a notable difference between swimming for fun and scuba diving. And an even greater difference when it comes to exploring underwater caves. Learning more advanced concepts would be fun.
I do agree with adding a magnemite to the team, but I do think there's something worthwhile in spending another week in Cerulean
We could do a rival battle with Willow, call our family, and then travel up to the power plant with a journey companion who can back us up in event of a rocket encounter

How do you expect me to do that? 8?
The options to vote from change a bit per location. There's only so much planning ahead that I or any other reader can realistically do beyond gyms, contests, or team acquisitions and movesets.
Willow would have to catch up to Violet at the rate we move through areas, tho I'll admit it doesnt have to be Willow
And fair on cave diving. I care more about the swimming part.. as I feel cave diving itself borders a suicidal activity, but Im not the qm writing it.
Guess I'll change my vote for the other option that isnt the power plant one.
Said unique activity is admittedly harder to predict, partly due to me preferring to plan things as I go
And IRL cave diving is definitely absurdly dangerous. The only reason it isn't in this quest is a combination of it operating off of Pokemon logic as well as having Pokemon that can live underwater.

yknow, good point. I did think of it wrt "Well in anipoke the characters use rebreathers and go diving a fair bit in some episodes and seasons, mainly misty-involved ones, so idk its probably fine", but not thinking as deeply as "if something happens local mons would probably help a kid"
I also assume that it depends on which parts of a cave you go to, and which cave it is. On a place like Mount Moon, you are generally safer as long as you stay on the most direct and well travelled path between Cerulean and Pewter City that's regularly patrolled by rangers. Meanwhile, Cerulean Cave has areas even more dangerous than IRL Cave Diving thanks to the power of the Wild Pokemon inside.
Just noticed this, but the wording seems to suggest that if Pineco uses self destruct at 2% HP then Sturdy will still take place. We could try getting a couple of attacks off first, and then self destructing, so that subpar rolls don't let our opponent survive. Also, can Pinceo self destruct twice in a row?Sturdy - Pineco is a tough Pokemon, able to shrug off hits that would have otherwise incapacitated her. (First faint instead puts Pineco on 1 HP. Reset if healed to full HP, applies if healed through moves like Heal Pulse or in a Pokecenter.)

Hmm, should be able to just stall wall Chansey on the Psyduck but with confuse ray not so wise on the Staryu.
Ok hear me out, when we head to the power plant rather than magnemite we catch Voltorb, then we catch Geodude from the nearby cave, then we grab a koffing somewhere and become the ultimate grenade gremlin.
Its a bit of a glass jaw strategy.Ok hear me out, when we head to the power plant rather than magnemite we catch Voltorb, then we catch Geodude from the nearby cave, then we grab a koffing somewhere and become the ultimate grenade gremlin.
We were already heavily favored to win before picking up Chansey since Pineco is liable to one-shot Staryu on anything except a high roll anyway so I motion we make this a bit more entertaining, and get some more actual value from this in the form of training Dratini by deploying Dratini before Pineco. It's not optimal for winning this battle but we're so heavily favored to win anyways it shouldn't matter, and we get a more entertaining fight plus better long-term results.
