Alright, I'll be closing the vote here. Looks like Willow is being invited. Well, I believe this image is going to sum up their relationship
87 - Short, Peaceful Trip

[X] Invite Willow - She's a friend and rival, and you can reconsider when you arrive. But it will certainly make your time more eventful and she does have a few unique perspectives when it comes to Pokemon.
[X] Don't - You prefer the additional freedom traveling alone brings. Not to mention you've only had to deal with Willow in small bursts. That much energy may become annoying.

The next few hours were spent in a Pokecenter where Willow was waiting for Bronzor and Staryu to heal from their injuries. As she sat in a chair surprisingly calm compared to normal, Violet thought now was the best time to approach her rival. "Th-that was a good battle."
Willow grinned at the praise, "I know, I spent weeks preparing and practicing for it." At those words, Eevee popped out of his Pokeball, looking annoyed that he wasn't used in the fight. "Come on Eevee, you know you were the ace in the hole."
The Evolution Pokemon whined in regretful acceptance. It was the problem with having a Pokemon meant to act in a specific circumstance, sometimes that didn't happen.
"D-did you plan that fight out beforehand?" Violet tentatively asked, while it wasn't what many would expect from Willow, the shy girl knew better. Willow was extroverted, not careless.
"Yep," she replied eagerly, emphasizing the word heavily. "Starmie was the trickiest one, so I had Bronzor prepare for them by practicing with Staryu. They just had to outlast Misty. Then Staryu could clean up with Eevee jumping in if Misty's Staryu managed to get the advantage."
Eevee puffed up proudly at that, clearly proud of his speed and evasiveness. Violet hummed in thought, wondering if that would have been enough. Eevee seemed to notice this, huffing in irritation as he claimed he could easily have managed Staryu.
"I-I'm sure you could," Violet said placatingly, mollifying the Evolution Pokemon.
"So, what's up?" Willow interjected, drawing Violet's attention back to her. "Not that I'm not happy you're here, but I thought you were headed to Vermillion City."
Violet squirmed, wondering how to ask what she came for. "I-I was wondering …" she hesitated, glancing at Willow to try and analyze her further. The energetic trainer was relaxed, willing to wait for Violet to finish her explanation despite preferring a faster-paced conversation. There was a sense of respect for Violet's skills throughout the conversation and during past interactions, with a particular emphasis on her battle skills and preparation. All in all, it wouldn't hurt to ask, even if it was hard for Violet to do so. "...D-did you." Violet paused, realizing that asking if Willow wanted to join her may be ambiguous. "...C-could you j-join me?"
The other trainer hadn't expected that but recovered swiftly. Leaping to her feet with a shout of, "Of course!" Willow immediately posed, with Dratini coming out of his Pokeball just to pose with her. "This is going to be so much fun! Violet and Willow, the second-best and best trainers respectively!"
"Y-you got that backward," Violet forced out, certain that her nerves were showing. She wasn't used to playful banter, having to see beneath the obvious was something she was good at. But Violet often associated the truth with negativity when it came to people. Even if Willow was mostly different, that didn't mean she could simply move passed her own thoughts and feelings.
"There's an easy way to tell," Willow said with a grin, "The moment you catch up to me, we battle!" The energetic girl pointed towards the two badges she had obtained, "The moment Nurse Joy finishes healing my Pokemon, we're out of here!"
Well, that was quicker than Violet had planned, but she always had the essentials with her. "That's fine." And with that, the two trainers had their next goal.
The first step was traveling through the Rock Tunnel, a trip Violet was already very familiar with. Moreover, there were several trainers still stationed within, just in case Team Rocket had any other ideas. As a result, it was little wonder that the trip through the tunnel took just a day to complete, without requiring them to camp within the tunnel itself.
Spending the night in Lavender Town, the two trainers began to think of what they would do before heading to Vermillion City.
The Sixteenth Week, Pick 1
Pokemon Actions
[-] Catch a fifth Pokemon - Now that your team has its core members, a fifth and sixth member would be useful and have more possible options. However, it's quite early for that. Locked.
[] Train with your Pokemon - All of your Pokemon are skilled in battle with unique skills. Several of them are near breakthroughs so training would help considerably.
[-] Train with Willow's Pokemon - While it would be nontraditional to train with your rival, both of you have unique skill sets that could complement each other. Unfortunately, Willow is busy this week.
Battling Actions
[] Challenge New Trainers - Now that you and your Pokemon have developed, fighting a few trainers in rapid succession would be easy.
[] Challenge an Experienced Trainer - Some trainers in the area have two badges, beating them may be a good experience.
[] Climb the Tower - Filled with Ghost Pokemon, this graveyard is a challenge for trainers seeking a fight. Willow has made it known she'll be climbing it and has invited Violet along if she's free.
Exploration Actions
[] See the Sights Inside the City - Lavender Town has a number of unique attractions such as numerous radio stations, Pokemon houses, and more. Exploring them would be fun.
[] See the Sights Outside the City - The Kanto Battle Dome is located nearby. While it won't have a battle tournament for another 11 weeks, it may be interesting to visit it and notable vista points in the area.
[] Explore Unorthodox Locations - Exploring in Lavender Town is common, but the mountains east of it are rarely explored due to a lack of interest. Spending a few days there may be interesting.
Traveling Actions
[X] Travel to Vermillion City - A popular seaport for Kanto, frequented by visitors and merchants from Johto. There are a number of regular ferries in the city.
Social Actions (For socials, it's assumed you keep up a basic level of contact through text, choosing a social means I write it up)
[] Call up your parents - Your parents are very curious about your new traveling companion and would like to ask about Willow.
[] Call Tetsuya - An old childhood friend of yours, the two of you drifted off recently. He surprisingly just managed to obtain his second badge from Celadon City.
There was a past operation in the tower around 20 weeks ago in universe. But since then you haven't heard of any Rockets being in the tower.
On that note, I think it's time to close the vote. Looks like it's time for a ghost hunt! Well, this should be unique.

Lavender Town was creepy, Violet thought as her eyes darted around, trying to find a hint of what was going on. It had started the moment they approached the Pokemon Tower, with Violet all but certain someone, or something, was watching them.
It was a shadow that was slightly off, the scraping of noise so quiet she wondered if it was her imagination, a pungent odor of spoiled eggs, the subtle taste of metal in the air. Needless to say, Violet's nerves were utterly gone. Willow by contrast was oblivious to the dangers, instead adopting an eager, upbeat attitude Violet had grown familiar with over the past days and weeks. At least it meant she wasn't the one who had to lead the way into a Pokemon burial ground.
Willow was quiet on the first floor, the air filled with a somber mood. Around them lay the graves of old Pokemon, a testament to death itself. May the souls of Pokemon rest easy, the words were carved into the walls around them, ensuring that every trainer that chose to challenge the tower understood this was a place for respect, not just for battle.
Violet hadn't thought about death until now, and ideally, she wouldn't have to face it for decades. Unfortunately, it was a fact of life. People and Pokemon were born, lived their lives, then died. Only a small handful would ever avoid the last step, and all the others could do was try to matter. Violet directed a glance to Willow, the energetic trainer in a pensive mood at the realization this wouldn't just be fun and games. The shy trainer opened her mouth to ask a question, or perhaps comfort her friend and rival. A moment later, she closed it. Willow looked introspective, she'd ask about it later, once she had time to mull it over.
The second floor was similar to the first, with more burial sites for Pokemon. But there was also an area for trainers to register and battle provided they understood not to disturb any of the ghosts that avoided their presence. Both Willow and Violet agreed, after which they had to wait a few minutes before being able to proceed to the third floor.
"Have you heard about Drifloom before?" Willow asked as they waited, her introspection coming to a close. Violet shook her head, she'd been focused on Pokemon in Kanto and Johto, and Drifloom wasn't in either region. "The Pokedex said it was formed by the spirits of people and Pokemon. Do you think that's true?"
Willow was scared, Violet realized. The signs were subtle, but there. A slight tremor in her hands, a few drops of sweat staining her shirt, and slightly heavier breathing than normal. Perhaps it was being faced with an unexpectedly sad battlefield, perhaps it was the realization that she may one day be a part of this tower. Or perhaps it was something else entirely. Violet shook her head in response after a few seconds of thought. The Pokedex was often exaggerated, but that wasn't the issue here either. "N-no, b-but that's not w-what you wanted to ask."
Violet mentally cursed how hesitant her voice sounded, words were hard, and when it came to such a heavy subject, they only became harder. "No, no it's not." Came Willow's reply. "I've just never had to think about death before."
"I-it's scary." Violet agreed a moment before Willow made a show of false bravado.
"Nah, I can handle it." She gave a wide smile that didn't reach her eyes. "Just follow my lead."
The shy girl stared for a moment before looking away, she wanted to say it was fine, but she could tell Willow was scared. But that was too hard to say. It was too direct, too confrontational. Too unlike who Violet was as a person. Instead, she chose an indirect approach. "A-a smile should reach your eyes."
It was indirect, easily brushed off and ignored. Willow appeared confused at her response, and this was usually when the person Violet was talking with ignored what she said and shifted the topic. "I thought I hid that better," Willow muttered, choosing an option Violet rarely saw people take. Listening to what she said and realizing what she was actually saying. "It's just not cool for a trainer to be scared. You don't see trainers on TV being scared, do you?"
No, Violet absolutely saw trainers on TV being scared. They all just hid it as best they could. Anxiousness and worry about losing was fine, but fear? Fear had to be bottled up and hidden. Fear was associated with cowards, not basic survival instincts. "A lot of trainers on TV are scared," Violet said softly, not bothering to elaborate on how she could tell. "I-I get scared a lot."
Violet felt her voice crack as she admitted that. Whenever she talked to people she felt nervous and fearful. It would ebb and flow between conversations, but it never truly went away. When she participated in the Contest Battle in Silver Town, Dratini had to break her out of paralyzing fear. Yet, that fear hadn't just vanished. Instead, it was merely reduced, content to simmer in her mind and linger. It would never truly go away, all that could be done was avoid being influenced by it. "I…" Willow began, the least confident Violet had ever seen her. "Can I give you a hug?"
The shy girl felt her own arms tighten around her, noticing tension in Willow that she hadn't noticed a few seconds ago. Giving a shaky nod, Violet felt her friend's arms wrap around her, slightly tighter than she expected. "I-I can't hug you like this."
Willow looked at her in confusion, before realizing Violet's arms were trapped between them. A moment before the embrace, Violet had been hugging herself, which led to the current predicament. Blushing at the mistake, Willow stepped back, letting Violet regain control of her arms. And a second later, the shy girl was the one to initiate the hug. "Are you ready to climb this tower?" Willow asked with a more confident grin than before. "With the two of us together, we can get all the way to the top."
Violet wasn't sure about that, there were all sorts of challenging Pokemon and Channelers in the Pokemon Tower. But perhaps, perhaps they could do it. "I'm willing to try."
Marching through the third floor, Violet and Willow almost immediately felt their confidence take a blow. Three Ghastlys stepped up to challenge them, with Violet noticing the hidden presence of several Channelers behind them. Willow took point, choosing to face two of them, leaving Violet with the third. It was here where the Ghastlys proved to be a dangerous foe able to wear down Pokemon with a combination of Curse, Payback, Mean Look, and Confuse Ray. When the battle ended, Eevee, Staryu, and Magnemite had taken a beating, even if they emerged victorious.
Then they marched to the fourth floor, and the process repeated. This time Violet was forced into a double battle, while Willow faced the more experienced trainer in a 2 vs 2. This time Pineco and Dratini were sent out, taking a significant beating in what would end in their victory eventually. Bronzor, however, had a harder fight, their typing proving both a blessing and a curse. While they won the fight eventually, it ended in a mutual knockout, leaving Willow down to two Pokemon.
They marched to the fifth floor, where their journey upwards would likely end. There, they were immediately challenged by 4 Channelers and placed into simultaneous double battles.

Violet's Perceptive Trait Kicks in!
Gastly 1 will use Curse on the strongest Pokemon before using a combination of Confuse Ray and Hypnosis. If a Pokemon closes range with them, they'll use Lick.
Gastly 2 will use Mean Look to ensure the fight stays as is, followed by utilizing a combination of Payback if hit and Confuse Ray.
Alright, I'll be calling the vote here. As it is, the fight started off very well thanks to a crit from Magnemite. Although Dratini missing Thunder Wave hurt. That and sadly due to Mean Look, it meant that sadly Dratini was stuck and fainted. Although immediately afterwards Magnemite took out the second Gastly.
But you did do quite a bit better than Willow., who saw both of her Pokemon faint due to Eevee being overspecialized into Normal type attacks which did not work out for her.
Round 1 Dratini: Dratini used Thunder Wave on the Gastlies (DC25/30: 2). Both Gastlies avoided the attack!
Round 1 Gastly 2: Gastly used Mean Look on Dratini (DC25: 49). Dratini cannot switch out!
Round 1 Gastly 1: Gastly used Curse on Dratini (DC1: 24). Dratini was cursed! Gastly loses 50% of its HP (50%)
Round 1 Magnemite: Magnemite used Electro Ball on Gastly 1 (DC25: 96). A Critical Hit! Gastly 1 loses 50% of its HP (0%)
Round 2 Dratini: Dratini used Twister on Gastly 2 (DC20: 56). Gastly 2 loses 30% of its HP (70%). Dratini loses 25% of its HP from Curse (25%). Dratini shed its skin!
Round 2 Gastly 2: Gastly used Payback on Dratini (DC25: 40). Dratini loses 8% of its HP (17%).
Round 2 Magnemite: Magnemite used Electro Ball on Gastly 2 (DC30: 29). Gastly 2 avoided the attack!

Send Out: Dratini, Magnemite
Dratini: Thunder Wave followed by Twister
Magnemite: Electro Ball Gastly #1 until it faints
Conditional: Replace whoever is cursed once they are about to faint or if Gastly #1 has been knocked out with Chansey who will use Life Dew repeatedly
"Dratini, Thunder Wave!" Violet yelled as Dratini let out a wave of electricity. The sparks illuminated the ghostly atmosphere, adding to the ethereal atmosphere.
There was no corresponding order from the Channelers before her. Instead, there was a sense of purpose, before both Gastlies acted in unison. Rising in the air, the two Ghost-types threaded through gaps within the wave of Thunder before both Pokemon targeted Dratini.
One Gastly used Mean Look, a massive, intimidating display of sight that would have made any Pokemon certain they must fight until they either fainted or won. And then the second Gastly used Curse, visibly wobbling at the toll it took on them, yet Violet could see ethereal energies dance across Dratini's form, visibly sapping his vitality.
Then came Violet's second Pokemon, with a surge of energy she hadn't expected from Magnemite, the Magnet Pokemon spun, coating itself in electricity. Using Electro Ball, they slammed into the weakened Gastly that just cast Curse, forcing it downwards into the ground where the Gas Pokemon fainted.
"Magnemite, again!" Violet called out, as the remaining Gastly turned towards what was assumed to be the bigger threat, giving Dratini an opportunity to strike.
A Twister struck the Gastly from behind, causing it to cry out in pain and frustration. Just before it could decide on which Pokemon to attack, Dratini made the choice for them. Shaking loose his skin, the Mirage Pokemon threw aside the ethereal Curse and Mean Look, bringing him back to full form. Locked into a 2 vs 1, the fight was now all but settled. Even with Violet's next order.
"Dratini," Violet said softly, looking at Gastly and Magnemite who were staring each other down. "Return."
Replying with a neutral chirp, Dratini acquiesced, moving to Violet's side as Magnemite and Gastly continued their duel. Unfortunately for the Gas Pokemon, it ended as expected. Despite managing to avoid the first of Magnemite's Electro Balls, Gastly simply lacked a move that could get through the Magnet Pokemon's steel frame. The next exchange sealed their fate, with Magnemite accepting the Payback and replying with an Electro Ball that could not be dodged.
Declared the victor, Violet sighed in relief. Turning towards Willow's fight, the shy girl was surprised to see her rival was facing a Gastly and Haunter pair. At which point the first Gastly evolved, sealing Willow's fate as Eevee and Staryu fainted after a few more exchanges. After a brief conversation, where Violet initially planned to join Willow on a trip to the Pokecenter, the shy girl was convinced to try and climb the tower some more.
"Besides," Willow said, "You have a Chansey."
A few applications of Life Dew proved that she did have a Chansey. At which point Violet climbed to the sixth floor. Facing a brutal gauntlet of four Gastlies back to back, each of whom used Curse, Mean Look, then Hypnosis, she managed to defeat two with Dratini before recalling him when the third Gastly emerged. At which point Pineco managed to take down the third using Bug Bite, leaving the last one to Magnemite who managed it admirably.
Now on the seventh and last floor, Violet stared down the Marowak that the Channeler opened with. "This doesn't look good.*

Alright, so I'll be calling the vote here looks like Chipping Away wins. And that is in fact what you end up doing. As it is, Marowak winds up aborting their Perish Song midway once he realizes what Chansey's plan is with Charm, at which point it takes a notable malus to switch to a Headbutt. From there it loses a lot of its attacking power before trying a hail mary Bone Rush that actually ends up going rather well for it. Then it does it again but better. At which point though the Channeler sees the writing on the wall and switches to Haunter.
Round 1 Chansey: Chansey used Charm (DC1: Autosuccess). Marowak's Attack was reduced to B
Round 1 Marowak: Marowak used Headbutt (DC40: 48). Chansey lost 28% of its HP (72%).

Round 6 Haunter Switched in for Marowak
For funsies, here are Haunter's stats. As you can see, they are very much a glass cannon build with a reliance on their high evasiveness. That being said, Nasty Plot makes them rather nasty to deal with. Even if they are inexperienced with it.

[X] Chipping Away
Send Out: Chansey
Chansey: Use Charm, then Sweet Kiss, and lastly three Tail Whips until she's about to faint or has finished stacking all of them. Using Life Dew as necessary if it'll keep her in the fight longer to apply more debuffs. She is to swap with Pineco, and then come back out if she still has the HP as well as stamina to apply more debuffs but would faint to Perish Song.
Send Out: Pineco
Pineco: Use Bug Bite unless she would faint to Perish Song at which point she should swap with Chansey if the latter can still take hits from Marowak or if Chansey can not take a hit she should swap with Magnemite. Regardless, of who she swaps with Pineco should come back out to continue using Bug Bite against Marowak, and should repeat this process unless she would faint.
Send Out: Dratini
Dratini: If Pineco would faint Dratini should be sent out to use Water Gun, and should swap with Magnemite as needed to avoid Perish Song before returning to the field.
"Chansey! Use Charm!" Violet called out, the Egg Pokemon responding rapidly. As metaphorical hearts began to fly towards Marowak, the Bone Keeper's eyes softened from his hard gaze.
In the midst of using Perish Song, Chansey's opponent abruptly switched their move midway through it. As the song's notes trailed off into nothingness, Marowak stepped forward calmly, grasping Chansey's arm before drawing her forward into a vicious Headbutt. The Egg Pokemon cried out in pain before using Charm once more, Violet calmly staring and analyzing the situation at hand. And Marowak used Headbutt once more, again and again, whilst Chansey slowly whittled down his willpower, causing each hit to do less damage than the last.
The Bone Keeper took a step back, experimentally swinging the bone they held. There was a haunting sense of doubt within the Marowak that lasted a scarce handful of seconds. Only to be broken as Chansey used Sweet Kiss, causing the Bone Keeper's eyes to unfocus and dilate unnaturally. "Good job Chansey," Violet began, mistakenly thinking the fight was now over. "Now, switch to -"
"Maro…" The Bone Keeper stared at Violet with unfocused eyes. Those eyes stared into her soul, judging her despite not understanding what they saw. Marowak's grip on the bone he held shifted into a hold more fitting for a baseball bat. Then he stepped forward, almost roaring as the Bone Keeper swung once, twice, thrice, striking with Bone Rush five times total.
Each hit left openings in his guard, yet the Bone Keeper cared not. There was only one direction to go and that was forward, through Chansey. Eyes, unfocused and unsure of what they saw could not be trusted, but the feeling of hitting his opponent and pressing them backward? That Marowak could feel.
"Life Dew! Quickly!" Violet yelled out, almost biting her nails as the Marowak just kept moving forward.
Chansey responded with a swiftness born of panic, healing themselves with water just as quickly as the Bone Keeper could inflict injury. Managing to gain a bit of space, the Egg Pokemon had a single second to breathe.
Marowak stepped forward into that space, slamming the bone he held into Chansey's right leg. Using Bone Rush once more in rapid succession, he stepped forward whilst Chansey stepped back, striking the Egg Pokemon with enough force to cause her to step back once more. Five times Marowak struck, and five times Marowak landed a blow. Somehow, the Bone Keeper was outpacing the healing of their opponent.
Violet nervously looked out, trying to figure out what to do. Bone Rush was terrifying as a move when it worked properly, but from what she could see Marowak couldn't keep that up. Chansey could outlast the Bone Keeper, but there were risks. Small ones, but they existed nonetheless. Mentally deciding to continue her plan, a red beam struck Marowak to her surprise. "Quickly! Life Dew!"
The Egg Pokemon knelt, panting from her injuries as she swiftly healed herself. No longer on the edge of fainting, Chansey stood back up, staring down the Haunter that would be her opponent.

Hex: C++
Night Shade: B-
Nasty Plot: C–
Violet's Thoughts: Rather dangerous if given time to setup, it is poorly built to handle Chansey however. Haunter lacks a strong physical attack and Chansey is immune to Curse. Hypnosis may be an issue.
Violet's Perceptive Trait Kicks in!
If Chansey stays in, Haunter will use Spite leaving them open for a round but disabling Life Dew, before switching with Marowak now that the Bone Keeper has been able to recover from what Chansey has done.
If Dratini or Magnemite are sent out, Haunter will use Hypnosis before using Nasty Plot then Hex. And if their opponent wakes or another Pokemon is sent out, they will start using Confuse Ray and Hypnosis once more.
If Pineco is sent out, then Haunter will use Nasty Plot repeatedly before using Hex repeatedly.

Alright, so I should begin this with the caveat that I do still have an ongoing family emergency so the soonest I can guarantee an update is Monday barring any unfortunate incidents.
That being said, behold! The sheer majesty that is a 46 round Pokemon battle. Which in my mind corresponds to around an hour of continuous back and forth exchanges. Here we have such hilarious incidents as me continuously mixing up what round I was on, Chansey bullying Marowak into just outright giving up, Haunter getting so sad at fighting Chansey that Violet sent in Magnemite, Haunter failing every one of their Nasty Plots, and Violet causing two enemy Pokemon with high levels of Stamina to run out of Stamina via a Chansey.

Send Out: Chansey
Round 7 Chansey, Turtle: Life Dew
Round 8 Chansey, Turtle: Life Dew
Round 9+ Chansey, Turtle: Use Charm to keep Marowak at -2 Attack, and keep using Life Dew. Swap with Magnemite as needed to avoid fainting to Perish Song.
Conditional: If Haunter stays in to use Mean Look during one of the Perish Song swaps don't swap out instead have Magnemite adopt a Reckless stance and use Thunder Shock. Or, if Marowak uses Tail Whip to lower Chansey's Defense use Defense Curl to counter it.
Violet realized that there was an ebb and flow to Pokemon battles. A back and forth between opponents that was either sharp and swift or slow and elegant. Right now, the battle was in an ebb, a moment of relative tranquility within a larger moment of swift violence. Haunter's Spite having no effect on Chansey ensured it remained a slow, elegant battle with the Egg Pokemon using the moment to heal further.
Her foe realized just how poor of a match-up it was for Haunter and put Marowak back in, but by the time that swap was completed, Chansey puffed up her chest showing off her utter lack of injury. The opposing Marowak's eyes narrowed. He had taken the fight seriously the entire time, and now he would have to find another gear entirely to break through Chansey's formidable sturdiness.
Seeing his Headbutt grow weaker and weaker as the Egg Pokemon used Charm, he began to play a haunting melody that Violet recognized as Perish Song. But she had a plan for it. Holding Magnemite's Pokeball with one hand, she continued to direct Chansey. Finding a moment for another Life Dew, the injuries she sustained from Marowak's Headbutt. Then ordered the use of a rarely used Defense Curl to counter Marowak's attempt to use Tail Whip. Absorbing one last Headbutt, Chansey smiled as a red beam struck her.
A fraction of a second later, Marowak was also surrounded by a red glow, as Haunter stared down Magnemite, only for the Magnet Pokemon to withdraw a second later, allowing Chansey to brush off Haunter's Confuse Ray. Forced to switch back to Marowak once more, the Egg Pokemon took the moment to perform a quick twirl supplemented by yet another Life Dew. Marowak emerged from his Pokeball and grunted in annoyance.
Then to Violet's surprise, her opponent tried to catch her off guard with a switch to Haunter, but she wasn't so easily fooled. Calling out for a Disarming Voice, Chansey managed to force out a weak attack that affected Haunter. Albeit it was as effective as Violet yelling at Haunter, which is to say, not at all. Haunter's Payback was little better, with Chansey not even bothering to heal it, instead taking a moment to catch her breath from the lengthy battle.
A red beam struck Haunter, and Marowak emerged just in time to be hit with back-to-back Charms before it could even use Perish Song. Visibly weakened, Violet saw a chance to do a little damage and as Chansey absorbed Headbutt after Headbutt, she used Echoed Voice to minor effect, causing a few scratches to appear on Marowak.
Then both Pokemon switched out. And a moment later Chansey was back in, absorbing Haunter's Payback then using the time it took to swap back in Marowak to heal once more. The usual cycle of Charms and Headbutts continued, with the only deviation being a momentary stumble by Chansey where a Life Dew failed. Followed a moment later by Marowak finding his second wind, reenergizing himself for several minutes of hopelessly attempting to do more damage to Chansey than she could heal.
At this point, it'd been a long, long battle. With over 50 moves used, a number that was rarely encountered in a traditional 2 vs 2 battle. As Marowak fell to his knees in exhaustion, Chansey returned to full health, having used Life Dew four times in a row.
Violet saw into the opposing Pokemon's eyes. Eyes filled with the realization that Chansey was a wall he couldn't overcome. He could attack, attack, and attack again, but no matter what, the Egg Pokemon would heal it away. For all his skill, for all his durability, it was nothing compared to his opponent. What else could he do? What hope did he have of victory?
None.
He would lose in the end. It would take hours of fighting to do it. Yet it would happen in the end.
And so, Marowak chose the only option available to him. He gave up.
Staggering to his feet and returning to his Pokeball, Marowak withdrew from the battle entirely, and Haunter emerged once more.
What followed was one of the ugliest fights Violet had ever seen. It started off interesting, with Haunter's Hypnosis causing Chansey to fall asleep. Then it got boring when Haunter just kept hitting the sleeping Pokemon with Payback, doing barely anything until Chansey woke up and healed it away with Life Dew. When the Gas Pokemon stared down Disarming Voice without flinching, Violet realized that maybe another strategy was needed.
"Magnemite," she said in a calm voice. "It's your turn now."
In contrast to the healing wall that was Chansey, Magnemite didn't have a method of restoring their lost health. They couldn't avoid Haunter's attacks nor could they stay at range thanks to Nasty Plot. What they did have, however, were powerful electric attacks.
Which could only be used after Magnemite woke up, as the moment they entered the battle, Haunter hit them with Hypnosis. Normally, Violet would have withdrawn Magnemite for Chansey once more, allowing them to wake up out of battle. However, she never had to choose as Haunter repeatedly displayed his worst tendency, rushing things.
Nasty Plot fizzled out thrice, leaving Haunter beyond frustrated. Not so much that he didn't retain his normal evasiveness, however, as demonstrated by him barely avoiding Magnemite's well-aimed Thunder Shock. Annoyed and irritated, the Gas Pokemon charged in, facing his opponent head-on. Magnemite simply stared down their opponent and the two exchanged attacks, Hex and Thunder Shock colliding and exploding in the air, knocking both Pokemon backward.
A momentary cloud of dust coated the arena, causing Violet to lose track of Haunter for a single second. Time in which the Gas Pokemon sent Magnemite to sleep once more before once more rushing matters greatly, leaving a twin pair of Nasty Plots to fail. And then came the critical point.
At this point, the battle between Violet and the Channeller had gone on for nearly an hour. And everyone was tired. However, Haunter had been put into battle far before Magnemite. Not to mention Magnemite was slow and lazy, electing to avoid expending any energy whatsoever. Haunter by contrast practically flew around the arena in evasive, unpredictable patterns. It made him hard to hit, but it also made him very, very tired.
The exhaustion hit in waves. Moves grew harder to perform, a routine Hypnosis suddenly became a herculean effort. Haunter's movements slowed, yet the Pokemon forced himself to continue dodging as best they could. Yet, it wasn't enough.
Magnemite chased down his foe, and at long last a pair of two Thunder Shocks managed to best Haunter. And at long last, Violet emerged the victor.
As she looked upon the seventh floor and began to explore what her victory granted her, her mind briefly flashed to the trail Willow and her would take to Vermillion City.
[] The Fishing Docks and Route 11 - Home to a number of fishermen and water-type specialists, you can expect a few easy fights along the way.
[] To Silver Town and the Forests - The forest between Silver Town and Vermillion City is seldom traveled due to a curious lack of Pokemon within. It would be a unique experience.
[] Through the Skies on a Skarmory - A rare opportunity to see a Skarmory, a visiting trainer is luckily headed to Vermillion City herself. Considering the fact that you may want one in the future, it may be good to take a look.
[] Straight Through the Forests - A route that's almost never traveled due to the difficult terrain and lack of Pokemon, it would allow you to get some experience with traveling as fast as possible.

GM Note: Hi all, while I'm glad to finish this update I'm unfortunately still dealing with a family emergency so updates will be once a week for 2-3 weeks as a result. That being said, at least things are getting better IRL, so I've got hope that my update speed will get back to normal soon. Next update will have the various stat upgrades attained by Chansey and Magnemite.
