Huh, there are a lot of ties so far. As it is, I'm going to just call the vote here. Time for a dice roll

Kanto Week 7 Part 2 - Chansey's Dance Moves
[X] Focus on Chansey - Chansey is new to the team and while she has integrated well, it may be worthwhile having a few days to just play with Dratini and Pineco.

Violet started her week preparing for her battle with one of the Cerulean City attendants. She didn't know who it would be, or what Pokemon they had, but training her companions would certainly make it easier. At least, that's what she had thought, but now she had realized she may be a bit overprepared.

Willow, her self-proclaimed rival, had beaten an attendant almost a month ago. Perhaps Violet could have won the fight at that time, perhaps not. There was no point dwelling on what-ifs all Violet could do was prepare for the future.

The first step was to acclimate Chansey to Dratini and Pineco. While the Mirage and Egg Pokemon got along well, mostly due to her oldest companion's love of attention and the realization dancing would help with that incentivizing him further, Pineco was a bit more standoffish. By now, Violet realized the Bagworm Pokemon was fine with the latest addition to the team, Pineco just preferred to observe rather than directly interject herself into a situation that was already fine.

As Dratini and Chansey played, with Pineco enjoying the view the campsite offered, Violet sat down to watch the battle between Willow and Gym Leader Brock. Surprisingly, her self-proclaimed rival didn't lead with Staryu, instead choosing to send out an Eevee. This led to a lengthy, protracted fight with Eevee sprinting around the arena at an incredibly fast rate, keeping its distance from Brock's Geodude. Using a mixture of Sand Attacks and Growls when at a distance, Willow would have Eevee dart in and out of Geodude's range using Quick Attack to whittle down the Rock-type Pokemon until it fainted.

Then when Onix was sent out, she simply withdrew Eevee and sent out Staryu. Compared to the drawn-out fight from before, this was a quick fight, with Staryu demonstrating a great deal more refinement than Violet recalled. A quick two water guns was all that was needed to cause Onix to faint, something that caused Willow to cheer loudly.

"Chansey?"

Glancing up from her phone, Violet smiled at the Egg Pokemon's call for attention. "Don't worry," she explained, "I just finished what I was doing." Standing up, Violet looked at the three of her Pokemon, realizing that they had something far more nefarious in mind.

Pineco began to hop in a rhythmic pattern, each landing on the ground sounding like a drumbeat. Chansey grabbed her hand while Dratini used Twister to cause a small breeze.

"I don't know how to dance!" Violet said in a panic as the Egg Pokemon began to shuffle along to the beat.

Dratini chirped in encouragement, trying to show Violet what moves she should do. Considering the Mirage Pokemon was more serpentine than humanoid, that wasn't as helpful as he thought it was.

Thankfully for everyone involved, Violet didn't try to perform her best impression of a Dratini moving their head left and right whilst music played. Instead, Chansey laughed at the Mirage Pokemon's instructions, understanding there was a difference between moves a human could perform and those he could perform. Taking charge of the dance, Chansey told Violet to follow her lead, leading to a rather awkward Violet copying what her latest Pokemon did.

The Egg Pokemon's dancing was odd, more akin to an art form than in line with any music Violet knew of. She could tell it seemed to follow the beat Pineco had kept up, but without any other instruments, it felt more like a group activity than a true recital. Trying to keep up with Chansey's moves herself was … she'd call it a learning experience rather than her fumbling her way into maybe half the intended moves.

At least Chansey enjoyed it, based on the smile that stayed on her face for the rest of the day.

After five days in the outskirts of Cerulean City, mainly spent relaxing and getting to know Chansey, who most definitely was going to be a handful, Violet arrived at the Cerulean City Gym, ready to take on one of the attendants.

The gym itself had an interesting layout, with three swimming pools off to the side each containing platforms where the lane lines were. Violet could already tell any fire or ground types would have problems here, but electric types would have a field day. And at the center of the gym, was another pool, but instead of having the platforms distributed in lines, this was more like a maze with Gym Leader Misty at the center.

Signing up for a battle was easy, the four Cerulean sisters each had wait lists, and there was one open a few hours later for Violet. Huh, Violet thought, she didn't realize she shared the same name as one of the sisters. This was going to get confusing, as the Violet of the Cerulean gym was who she would be facing.

After grabbing a ticket with the number 11 on it, Violet walked up into the stands where a crowd had gathered to watch the Pokemon battles. Taking the time to watch some of them herself, the shy girl's eyes were drawn to Misty's 3 on 3 battle for someone's second gym badge. Violet had to rub her eyes on more than one occasion as she realized the challenger had three Hypnos. She wondered why they had thought it was a good idea, as while they had won, two Hypnos had fainted in what should have been far more one-sided.

"Number 11, please report to Pool 2." That was her! Feeling her heart beating rapidly in her chest, Violet took the stairs two at a time as she spotted Violet of the Cerulean gym and her Shellder.

Violet challenges Violet to a 1 vs 1 Pokemon battle! Violet sends out Shellder!

Alright, I'll be calling the vote here for Charming Chansey. I present to you the battle log.

Yeah, the other Violet did not have fun doing the equivalent of having Shellder try and break through a stall Chansey at their level. Good news is, at least Chansey got a fun bit of practice.

Round 1 Shellder: Shellder used Ice Shard (DC15: 46). Chansey loses 6% of its HP (94%).
Round 1 Chansey: Chansey used Charm (DC1: Autosuccess). Shellder's Attack fell to D+.

Round 2 Chansey: Chansey used Echoed Voice (DC1: 2). Shellder loses 20% of its HP (80%).
Round 2 Shellder: Shellder used Water Gun (DC20: 85). Chansey loses 1% of its HP (93%).

Round 3 Shellder: Shellder used Ice Shard (DC15: 28). Chansey loses 2% of its HP (91%).

Kanto Week 7 Part 2 - An Easy Victory
[X] Charming Chansey
Pokemon Sent Out: Chansey
Stance: Evasive
Chansey Round 1: Charm
Chansey Round 2: Echoed Voice or Life Dew if in danger of fainting
Chansey Round 3: Echoed Voice or Life Dew if in danger of fainting
Chansey Round 4: If Shellder is using Ice Shard then use Charm, but use Life Dew first if in danger of fainting, then repeat from round 2 as needed

Violet sent out Chansey, realizing that her newest Pokemon had something the others didn't. Healing potential and sheer bulk. Her opponent's visible sigh both relieved and infuriated her. Chansey wasn't a bad Pokemon by any means, even if people thought of them as pacifists most of the time.

Some of her irritation must have shown on her face, as her opponent shook her hands as she tried to clarify, "Wait, I didn't mean it like that, just that Shellder is a bad matchup for Chansey."

Violet stood there awkwardly, she didn't think there was a question in that, but maybe she was supposed to say something.

"I mean, Shellder doesn't have anything that can get through Life Dew, so he's going to have problems in this fight."

The shy girl glanced at Chansey who was looking around the arena and sizing up her opponent. She just wanted the battle to start rather than get into this conversation.

"That was a sigh of 'I'm going to lose this so hard' not 'another newbie trainer'."

"Can we start?" Violet asked softly, causing Violet of the Cerulean Gym to slump.

"Yes, start, we should do that."

Both trainers prepared themselves, sizing up the trainer on the other side of the arena as well as their opponent's Pokemon. Then, the buzzer rang and both sides shot into motion.

Shellder leapt into the pool, sinking to the bottom before firing shards of ice at Chansey, causing a few minor scratches as she twirled and danced with serene grace. The Egg Pokemon moved across the platforms, using Charm on Shellder who appeared to grow heart eyes and his Ice Shard attack visibly weakened.

As Chansey's voice echoed through the gym and in the pool itself, Shellder began to vibrate from the Echoed Voice. Violet of the Cerulean Gym tried switching to Water Gun, hoping it would do more damage in response. Only for Chansey to almost entirely ignore it, only stepping back a half-step.

The shy girl's opponent tried to switch back to Ice Shard, but there was no hope to begin with. While Shellder could only scratch Chansey, the same was not true in reverse. As the Egg Pokemon's Echoed Voice rang through the gym, Shellder violently vibrated causing the poor Pokemon to grow disoriented. And the battle ended as it used a final Ice Shard only to hit nothing. Then things got worse for the poor Pokemon, as it tried to avoid the incoming Echoed Voice, only to position itself such that it was repeatedly slammed into the side of the pool causing it to faint.

Violet gave a slight smile at the victory. It was far easier than she had thought it would be, and in full honesty, it was overdue. Returning Chansey to her Pokeball, she nodded once to her opponent before heading towards the Pokecenter. While her newest Pokemon was likely fine, it didn't hurt to have her checked out.

After all, they had a gym battle planned.

*Chansey upgrades Echoed Voice to C++*
*Chansey upgrades Speed to D+*
*Dratini upgrades Showmanship to C++*

The Eighth Week, Pick 1
Pokemon Actions

[-] Catch a fourth Pokemon - With four routes branching from Cerulean City, there are dozens of different Pokemon you could catch ranging from Pidgy to Oddish to Houndour. (Cannot be taken till Week 9)
[-] Fish for Pokemon - Cerulean city does have several fishing spots nearby, heading to one to try and catch Pokemon could be useful. (Cannot be taken till Week 9)
[] Train with your Pokemon - All of your Pokemon are good in a battle, and each has unique skills. Training for a few days would help them ensure you beat Misty.

Battling Actions

[] Challenge New Trainers - Now that you, Dratini, and Pineco had developed, fighting a few trainers in succession was doable.
[] Challenge an Experienced Trainer - There are some trainers in the city that have a badge, beating them may be a good experience.
[X] Challenge the Cerulean City Gym - It's time to face your first gym battle. It will be a 2 vs 2 battle, with you having one switch available.

Exploration Actions (New)

[] See the sights in Cerulean City - While you have explored a good portion of the city, there is still quite a bit more to see such as the substations, gym, and other minor tourist attractions.
[] Explore Unorthodox Locations - Exploring parts of Cerulean City most people don't will be an interesting experience. Surely nothing can go wrong?
[] Explore some Caves - Now that you have learned the basics of caving, taking on more challenging spelunking expeditions is viable. And there are a fair few options nearby.
[] Learn to Swim - While you do know how to swim, there is a notable difference between swimming for fun and scuba diving. And an even greater difference when it comes to exploring underwater caves. Learning more advanced concepts would be fun.

Traveling Actions (Can Take 1 of These Only)

[] Travel to Mt. Moon - The cave system leading to Pewter City, heading towards the mountain to travel through will allow Violet to begin an adventure within.
[] Travel to the Power Plant - A large power plant that produces much of Kanto's electricity, it is home to several electric-type Pokemon.
[] Travel to Write-in - There are many locations in Kanto one could take a direct route towards.

Social Actions (For socials, it's assumed you keep up a basic level of contact through text, choosing a social means I write it up)

[] Call up your parents - Your parents would appreciate a call just to tell them what you've been up to. Doubly so as you are about to face your first gym battle.
[] Call Tetsuya - An old childhood friend of yours, the two of you drifted off recently. He recently arrived in Pewter City and lost his first gym battle.
[] Call Willow - The trainer you recently defeated, she seems fun if exhausting. She is currently in Mt. Moon on her way to Cerulean City and has sent pictures of her third Pokemon.
[] Visit Luna - The medical trainer has been involved with Nurse Joy at the Poke Center. Visiting her could provide some interesting insights.

Round 1 Shellder: Shellder used Ice Shard (DC15: 46). Chansey loses 6% of its HP (94%).
Round 1 Chansey: Chansey used Charm (DC1: Autosuccess). Shellder's Attack fell to D+.

Round 2 Chansey: Chansey used Echoed Voice (DC1: 2). Shellder loses 20% of its HP (80%).

Alright, time for me to close the vote. Looks like you'll be heading to the Power Plant after the battle with Misty. And due to this being a 1 badge fight, you don't have to face her Starmie which is good, as that thing would have been difficult to say the least. Instead you get to fight a Psyduck and Staryu (psyduck first)

Kanto Week 8 Part 1 - The Day Before
[X] Travel to the Power Plant - A large power plant that produces much of Kanto's electricity, it is home to several electric-type Pokemon.

In the Pokemon center, Violet waited as Chansey was checked over by Nurse Joy. While in the waiting room, she noticed Luna who nodded at her before going on with her work. Relaxing into her seat, Violet let out Dratini and Pineco. "Tomorrow we'll be battling the Cerulean Gym, are you ready?"

Dratini puffed up his chest, demonstrating his bravado and confidence. Pineco was more sedate, before stating her confidence to take down her opponent. And if all else failed, Self Destruct would certainly work.

"You do make a good backup," Violet said with a smile. In truth, almost no Pokemon out there could stand up to a Self Destruct at their current level. A while timed Protect could do it, but the shy girl had excellent eyes for battle. Maybe another defensive wall could do it? Onix perhaps.

The Bagworm Pokemon hummed in agreement, having already decided that she would be best as the second Pokemon out if she was used at all. Chansey was tough, and Violet didn't think Misty would have someone who countered her.

The Mirage Pokemon rubbed against Violet's hand, somewhat jealous that he wasn't getting all the attention these days. Chirping quietly, he conveyed a sense of confidence that was softer than his usual more gregarious self. If he needed to fight at range, he had Twister and Thunder Wave. Up close? Thunder Wave and Wrap. He had options, and he could damn well use them.

Violet gently pet Dratini with one hand, motioning for Pineco to come closer with the other. Now with each hand occupied by one Pokemon, she whispered to Dratini. "As long as Misty doesn't have Ice moves, I think you could win on your own."

In the next hour before Chansey joined them, the three continued their conversation, with Violet commenting on how it seemed like they were growing quickly. Dratini had grown a full inch since their journey began and Pineco's body felt far tougher now. Their conversation only stopped when Nurse Joy and her Blissey came in, along with Chansey.

The Egg Pokemon looked happy, preening as she rushed over to where Violet was sitting. "I'm pleased to provide Chansey with a clean bill of health," Nurse Joy explained before any questions could be asked. "It's good to see that Luna's description of you is accurate."

Violet didn't say anything to that at first, she didn't have anything to add to it even if it was surprising. Why would Luna talk about her? Maybe the time she rescued her Growlithe from Team Rocket? Or the time they saved the two Chanseys? Okay, maybe there were a few good reasons for it.

Nurse Joy's warm smile didn't abate for a second at the lack of a response. "Let me know if you need anything else." Violet shifted slightly, a tad nervous about remaining quiet. "And if you wish to know more about training a Chansey, feel free to visit any Pokecenter." She gestured towards Blissey who waved at Violet. "As you can tell, their lineage is quite common in them."

"I might do that," Violet said non-committedly. It could be useful to get a better understanding of how Chansey could heal other Pokemon, and it wasn't like learning was a bad thing.

"As I said, any member of the Joy family would be happy to discuss the matter," the nurse said, never once dropping the smile. "Good luck on your battle."

Violet nodded at the well wishes, to which Nurse Joy stepped away from her to go back to her duties. "Tomorrow we face Misty," the shy girl directed at Chansey. "Are you ready?"

Chansey puffed up her chest and replied with confidence. She'd beaten one Water Pokemon, she could do so again.

The next day, Violet nervously played with the hair under her hat. Standing at one end of the Gym's battlefield, she felt like she was standing in a coliseum with crowds of people judging her every move. If she looked up at the stands, it wasn't inaccurate, with a few dozen people either waiting their turn for a battle or simply deciding to watch amateur Pokemon battles.

She licked her lips as Misty finished a battle in another pool. Returning her Gyrados to rest, the red-haired gym leader turned towards Violet, locking eyes with the challenger.

She broke eye contact first, taking a deep breath to calm herself. Time seemed to accelerate as the rules of the battle were shared. It was a 1 badge fight, therefore no items or potions were allowed. Two Pokemon each, with the challenger getting a single switch during the fight. Violet felt her hand drift to her belt, holding a Pokeball for comfort as more rules were announced. There was a finite time limit that was too long to matter for this level, no outside interference, etc, etc.

The moment the rules ended, Misty threw out her first Pokemon, unveiling a Psyduck that Violet immediately locked eyes with. It was time for battle.

Violet has challenged Misty to a Gym Battle!

Alright, I'm going to be calling the vote here. And it looks like it's a tie once more. Normally I'd roll a d2 to decide what plan wins, but in this case I'm just going to break the tie in favor of the plan I like best, which in this case is Come Closer. As such, that's the one that wins.

The opening seconds of the battle were more hectic than expected. Realizing Psyduck was faster, Violet ordered Dratini to dive into the pool to dodge, only for Misty to order her Pokemon to dive in as well. Yelling out "Thunder Wave!" Violet could see a surge of water when Psyduck's Confusion landed as well as a wave of electricity coat the pool's surface.

Both Pokemon leaped back onto the platforms a moment later, Dratini to hear what Violet called out and Psyduck in a doomed effort to dodge the Thunder Wave. Glancing at her first companion, Violet pursed her lips. He had taken light damage, which was acceptable. While it would be good to win it all with just him, as long as he took down Psyduck, she would win.

"Let's see how Dratini handles this!" Misty called out, causing Psyduck to psyche themselves up in preparation for an attack. "Psyduck, use Fury Swipes!"

Misty's Pokemon charged in, the electricity paralyzing its body making itself known, but by no means crippling it. And in response, Violet smiled, that was exactly what she wanted. "Wrap," the shy girl said quietly as Dratini smoothly waited for Psyduck to step within grabbing range of it before coiling itself around the Water Pokemon's legs and arms.

Then he began to squeeze, constantly working to gain a better position in the bind whilst Psyduck tried to escape. Misty cycled through moves quickly, trying to find something that could allow her Pokemon a chance to escape. Confusion was useless, with Dratini quickly shutting that down by rolling himself and his opponent over, dragging Psyduck into a face-down position. Fury Swipes was similarly useless, with Dratini clamping the Water Pokemon's arms to its chest. It was only a desperate use of Water Gun that did anything, as Misty had the face-down Psyduck use the move which launched both Pokemon into the air where for a brief moment Dratini and Violet were caught off guard. Yet, despite the effort, the Mirage Pokemon was able to adjust his hold, and the two slammed into the platforms below.

And only Dratini stood up, preening as his opponent fainted. Misty returned Psyduck to their Pokeball, frowning at Violet with an expression that conveyed a mixture of respect and frustration. "That was a good strategy, but I'm not going to let that work twice."

Misty tossed out Staryu, the Pokemon that would be her ace in the fight. Letting out a quick cry of "Staryu!" The water Pokemon spun rapidly in the air, bobbing and weaving in an impressive display that was meant to be intimidating.

Dratini responded with a spin of his own, chirping that spinning was pretty fun. And it looked cool! Both trainers giggled at that before the battle resumed once more.

Vote Closed + Battle Log
Alright, I'm going to call the vote here. Looks like you're going to try and solo with Dratini. In this case, I will say that Violet was somewhat overconfident in Dratini, albeit not without reason. Misty did end up treating it like a higher level gym battle than normal due to her competiveness, and as such Staryu became a notably harder target to hit, although Violet was able to emulate that as well. As for the result:

Kanto Week 8 Part 3 - The Cascade Badge
Pokemon Sent Out: Dratini
Stance: Standard
Dratini Round 1: Thunder Wave
Dratini Round 2: Twister
Dratini Round 3: Twister repeatedly

The battle had resumed for a mere few seconds before Violet realized something was different. Misty's orders hadn't just covered what moves to use, instead, she instructed Staryu to weave between the platforms. Immediately doing so, the Water Pokemon began to rapidly accelerate in unpredictable patterns, diving in and out of the water as it did.

Dratini dove into the water himself, barely avoiding a Confuse Ray before unleashing Thunder Wave within the pool, hoping for a repeat of what happened with Psyduck. Instead, Staryu shot out of the water into the air, avoiding the attack and reorienting itself to look down on the pool.

"Thunder Wave while it's in the air!" Violet shouted, to which Dratini leaped from the water onto one of the platforms, sparks beginning to form around it as the Thunder Wave began to coalesce.

"Staryu! Confuse Ray!" But Misty wasn't so inclined to give Dratini a free hit, as both Pokemon unleashed their attacks simultaneously. Almost immediately, Staryu's arms began to spasm while Dratini grew disoriented and struggled to track Staryu.

Calling out for Dratini to stay vigilant and on the move, he began to weave between the platforms and water just like Staryu, the two Pokemon using the complex dance as a form of cover. Both trainers called out for new attacks. Unwilling to have Staryu get into range of Dratini's coils, Misty opted for Water Gun, while Violet opted for Twister.

Disoriented as he was, however, Dratini's attack was mistimed and misplaced, tossing the Mirage Pokemon into the water with a heavy hit twice. However, the sheer unpredictability this provided ensured Staryu couldn't land any hits on the Mirage Pokemon. It was only the third time Dratini used Twister that he shook off the disorientation, enabling him to fight at full capacity once more.

And yet, Misty reacted quickly, having Staryu switch back to Confuse Ray as the two Pokemon continued their dance. Each Water Gun and Twister were dodged and evaded as Dratini and Staryu weaved between platforms and in and out of the pool itself. But it was the Mirage Pokemon that broke the stalemate, landing the first blow against Staryu thus far.

Managing to catch Staryu in the corner of the arena, Dratini landed a solid hit with Twister, the swirling maelstrom of Dragon energy injuring and disorienting Staryu enough that the Mirage Pokemon immediately was able to capitalize. Charging up the next attack more than normal, the Water Pokemon was surprised by the sheer intensity, causing it to cry out as it bounced off the platforms on the pool and into the water below.

"Don't let up!" Violet ordered for she knew not to give Staryu or Misty a chance to recover. And Dratini had no intentions himself, using Twister a third time in rapid succession to bring Staryu to the same level of injury as himself.

As the Water Pokemon got to their metaphorical feet, Misty asked if they could continue. To which Staryu responded with a quick confirmation before trying to land a Confuse Ray once more. Accepting the Twister that landed, Dratini once more appeared to grow disoriented as the dance between them continued once more.

Both Pokemon circled the other, constantly trying to gain an advantage or land hits. However, this time it was Dratini who slipped up. Trying to clear his head, the Mirage Pokemon misjudged distances, dodging into a Water Gun from Staryu that slammed him into the edge of the pool.

"Dratini!" Violet called out, nervously checking on her companion from a distance. The Mirage Pokemon chirped a battle cry, diving into the water to avoid the continued barrage of water from Staryu.

"Confuse it again!" Misty called out as Staryu switched to Confuse Ray just as Dratini regained his bearings. Diving into the pool to try and catch the Mirage Pokemon off guard, Violet saw an opening.

"Twister now!" There was a moment between when Staryu would enter the water, where the froth and bubbles from its entry would blind it, and Violet timed it perfectly. Tossing the Water Pokemon into the air with the move, Dratini hopped back onto the platform as the two battling creatures used up the last bit of energy they had.

"Don't give up yet, Staryu," Misty called out, her mind concentrating on what was in front of her. "Use Water Gun one last time!"

"You know what to do, Dratini!" Violet yelled simultaneously. Both Pokemon unleashed their attack, with Water Gun meeting Twister head-on, blinding both trainers for a few seconds as a spray of water coated the arena.

Waving her hand to try and disperse the spray, Violet held her breath as she realized just how quiet the battle had become. The mist dissipated, leaving her to see that only one Pokemon remained standing.

With a tired chirp of victory, Dratini visibly panted, exhausted by the lengthy battle. "We did it!" Violet yelled, hopping in excitement as the Mirage Pokemon approached hug range.

Glomping her Pokemon, Violet lifted him into her arms, spinning around in celebration as she realized the Cascade Badge was hers.

GM Note: So … looking at the rolls, I forgot to reduce Staryu's HP in Round 11 which would have caused the fight to end in Round 15. But because it's so narratively fitting, I'll just pretend that error never happened and that it ended where it did.
