Past lives 5 isn't *quite* that cool. It's only First Age Lore, Technology and Society.
Quoted for truth. Mind-Hand Manipulation is fun.Alectai said:Don't forget Orbital Impact Storm!

Keep in mind that if she ever rolls more success on an action augmented by Past Lives than her Dodge MDV Merela takes over. Which may be something you want to downplay if you're going that route.EarthScorpion said:Actually, no. It's nastier than that. It adds your Past Lives in dice to your pool. And when you consider that Louise is rocking that Malfeas look, and will be picking up Malfeas Mythos Exultant when she hits Essence 3; the one which doubles your mote reward, she can throw a lot of dice at problems, just from the Excellency. Of course, she's going to need it, because her combat skills are... well, she certainly has a +3 Speciality in Martial Arts for Groin Shots, which opens some nasty possibilities for Infernal Monster Style
Eh, a non-trivial fraction of the fanbase pretends that Scroll of Heroes was never written - I would be somewhat hesitent to assume anyone used anything from it.arthurh3535 said:Actually, I was thinking Past Lives out of Scroll of Heroes (where Merits and Flaws for 2nd Ed are kept.)
Not just had relations - the Unconquered Sun entombed her within the daystar itself, and it seems that he hasn't returned since.Winged Knight said:Wait... Wait wait wait. This past life actually had relations with the Unconquered Sun? He who is both a four armed killing machine and the sun itself? And I thought I couldn't be surprised by Exalted any more. Show how much I still don't know about this universe.
Good thing Merela's Exalted, or we might have had a "woman of kleenex" situation. What would the kids look like? Is a god blooded by the Unconquered son of a higher grade?
Ah yes, "Siesta", the maid who's grandfather is from another world.EarthScorpion said:
We have dismissed those claims.Starfield said:Ah yes, "Siesta", the maid who's grandfather is from another world.
She Who Lives in Her Name is more Jedi than Sith. She's got perfect temperance and a nebulous love for everything. I Imagine that she and Yoda would have some interesting conversations.Darth_Shinji said:
Yoda: Interesting philosophy, have you. Temperence, yes, balance and compassion and bravery and belief. But feel much pain you do, much contempt for others. Sad, it is.hyzmarca said:She Who Lives in Her Name is more Jedi than Sith. She's got perfect temperance and a nebulous love for everything. Yes, basically. It's a clear and present danger, which approximates to a "Super Berserk Mode" for her. Most of the time, she's fine with just the Malfeas Excellency. I do, however, hold that because of this, she can use it as justification for training up skills. I mean, she still has to sleep, because she doesn't have Nightmare Fugue Vigilance yet.Aaron Peori said:Keep in mind that if she ever rolls more success on an action augmented by Past Lives than her Dodge MDV Merela takes over. Don't worry. She had a perfect soak.Winged Knight said:Good thing Merela's Exalted, or we might have had a "woman of kleenex" situation.
Little Beam, is that you?drakensis said:It's uncertain how high Merela's essence was, but it's unlikely to have been past that of the UCS so the child would favour the godly heritage.
I had a certain amount of fun with a godblooded child of that union who was immortal... and that was it.
Merela was certain he would exalt one day so she waited... and waited... and waited...
By the Usurpation he was over 3000 years old and Mayor of Meru. He also ceremonially kicked the ass of newly exalted celestials just to give them one last experience of humility.
Same scale as other Exalts. Now, on the other hand, their "death counter" starts ticking from the moment of Exaltation, but still. If your Essence is [ 6, you have a 150 year lifespan, and you can't get above 5 until 100 years past Exaltation, barring Motivation completion.Valiran said:What's the maximum essence rating an Infernal can have relative to their age anyway? The Broken Winged Crane describes how Infernals live longer the higher their essence is, but does that change the whole "essence 6 only after a century of exaltation" bit?
Nope, not even that. Essence 6 makes it 300 years, Essence 7 700, Essence 8 1500, and it's only at 9+ that you get to 2500.Cruentus said:So Louise can only live up to 150 years as an Exalt unless she reaches essence 6, which she can only do within the last 50 years of her life at which point it extends to 2500? is there any other ways to extend it beyond that?
Doesn't exist, as far as I'm concerned. Breaks the setting.Stormseer88 said:
Doesn't work, the Age Cap on Infernals is a hard one, much like it is for Sidereals. Mortal frames can only handle Primordial scale power for so long--you can extend it a bit by evolving to transhuman essence levels, but your only permanent solution is to Stop Being a Human. Either by taking up a Yozi's mantle (Losing your Exaltation in the process, but gaining their level of hypercompetency in their focus), or becoming a Devil Tiger (Keeps your Exaltation, less hypercompetency, but you get to do some funny things with your body and soul at that point)Stormseer88 said:Indeed...
Who knows? If it weren't for the whole "Primordial War" thing that might even have made her (She Who Lives...) happy.
What about Hearthstone of Immortality BTW?
