Yes, according to earlier chapters, Jusenkyou curses "go away" on death, but whichever form the cursed is in when they die is the one they die as. Ranma died in her girl-form before Kiko bonded with her as her ghost. Ryouga apparently was fortunate enough and died as a human instead of a small pig.

Frankly, this is really unfair to all the other Guardians. Ranma gets not only two friends but also her mother turned into a Guardian? While nobody else finds their relatives and friends and? Now I feel sorry for everybody else. This is very Mary Sue'ish.

Have you read the original Mary Sue story? Or is only 309 words and has several elements in common here. You may want to watch out for that, there is a reason that the story originated a negative archetype.

On the contrary, most guardians don't remember anything of their previous lives. The number who do are something like less than a hundredth of a percent, and there are usually numerous problems that come with being one of those. What is happening with Ranma is also exactly why guardians associated with the City are actively discouraged from trying to look into their pasts. It needs to be remembered that the Vanguard and the Guardians they lead are a military organization, not a charity, and guardians going AWAL to pursue information about their past lives (like Ryouga did for two weeks when Ranma first showed up in the City), or getting distracted from their regular duties and chasing clues at the expense of abandoning mission objectives is a real problem.

It also isn't really a "good" thing for Ranma. With Khu, it's kind of alright, since she's almost entirely a different person from Cologne, and since she looks like she did in her late teens/20's Ranma can disassociate "Khu Long" from the 2-foot tall matriarch she was in her 300's. For Ryouga and Nodoka, on the other hand, there's going to be a whole lot of emotional baggage that Ranma's going to have to deal with, since they are immediately recognizable as the frenemy and mother she once knew, but Ryouga only kinda/sorta/not-really remembers her, and Nodoka to the best of our knowledge remembers absolutely nothing and only had an old company ID badge with her first Romaji initial on it to go off of as a clue to who she used to be. Now that they know their ties to Ranma, the only reasons they have to stick around is their own curiosity, and every time they ask Ranma questions about who they used to be is going to be one more reminder to her that while these people have their faces, they aren't the same people she once knew.

So, in canon Destiny 2, we have a few Guardians, whom meet people from their original life. Ranma in this timeline, isn't even the first. We just haven't met Ana Bray yet. Who's sister is still alive. Who's grandfather, is still alive. Ignoring the fact she interacts with Rasputin of the Bass, the AI she raised.

There are others, including Uldren Sov/Crow, but he hasn't even Died yet. Like the fact Banshee-44, is actually Clovis Bray in Exo form. Whom interacts with Ana Bray, fairly often. His memory just has more holes than a colander. and He's a Exo, not a Guardian. (I think) Cayde, knows several people from when he was alive, including Banshee-44, and Ana Bray. *This is hardly the full list* The problem with these? None of them have their direct memories. *But* they still interact with people they once knew when living, often.

The most we really know is that when Sundance first revived Cayde-6, there was a damaged journal there with his body. Everything he knows of his previous life comes from that, since he has no actual memories of his own, and we only get a few bits and pieces in dialogue and "codex" type lore about what is in it.

Actually, we do find out later on, Cayde was part of a team, with Banshee, and Ana Bray's sister, and a few other Exo, fighting Vex, during the Golden Age. It was during one of the Vex missions, during the 80s dlc.

Ah. I stand corrected then. I sort of left Destiny 2 around the Season of Opulence, so anything after that I have to get from wikis and other sources and I haven't really kept up with it. I'm still somewhat nostalgic for the series and lore though, which is why I enjoy this story so much.

Yes, I know about the Brays. That's not really similar - they are still alive, in large part because Clovis was a bastard and left copies of himself - although we still don't know what's going on with Elsie. Ana didn't discover that they all just happened to become Guardians. Also, she spent hundreds of years searching for her family and her own past, during which time she was on her own, very similar to the other Guardians. Ana also has no memory of her own original life.

Uldren Sov/Crow died many, many times. And he is a special case for multiple reasons. He also had amnesia until Savathun messed with him.

I don't think that Cayde knew any version of Clovis Bray before he became a Guardian. Or Ana or Elsie. He worked for the Brays but he did not happen to know the people in charge of the corporation. He seems to have been basically a security guard.

I don't think he remembers anything about his own life - like the majority of the other Guardians he has no memory of his own. He just happened to find notes/journals that he left for himself.

Also, none of this invalidates the Mary Sue-ish aspects of the story. I was OK with Ranma being an awesome fighter, although IMHO it was overkill to make him THE BEST among EVERYONE. And he has an ancient AI, one that put him in charge of an entire largely functional corporation. But now he also got multiple members of his family back, all of whom are also Guardians. IMHO he is getting too much stuff and everything seems to be revolving around him.

This is just my personal feedback and opinion - you don't have to agree to it.

So as to not completely spoil everything for the people whom still care, I will point you in a direction instead. *The Reason* the Exo's were created, was to defend against the Vex *that Clovis Bray himself* poked. There is your hint, go do research now. I won't spoil this one for all the others in the thread, because it has some really huge lore drops, like *Really Huge* as in "We know what caused the Darkness to show up when it did."
