A Force, Undying (New Jedi Order CK2 Quest)

[X] Kyle Katarn. Battlemaster of the New Order, while you disagree with his Potentiate belief and love of combat, he is perhaps one of the best Jedi the order has ever produced.

[X] Tionne Solusar. An archivist of your Order, she knows much of its history-- and of its wisdom. She set you on the mystic path, and your love of knowledge.

Council Meeting, 50 ABY

Master Solusar is indeed waiting outside your door, clad in simple clothes-- a tan tunic, tied at the waist with a sash, and brown leggings. You bow to her, and clasp her hand. "Master."

"Daro. Before we go in there, I wanted to speak with you, briefly. There are those who doubt you, in your youth and and in your single-minded devotion to being a Jedi."

"Well thank you master, and here I was afraid that I might walk in there too confident."

"I wasn't done yet. Yes you are young, and you are the first of this new Generation to reach so highly-- the first who has only been Jedi; and I think that is a good thing. The galaxy has many fighter pilots, many soldiers, many mercenaries-- but only one Jedi Order; it is for the best, I think, that it is led by a man who thinks as a Jedi." She claps you on the shoulder. "I don't know-- these sort of speeches were never my favorite. In the end, know that whatever else happens in those chambers, I am on your side."

"Thank you, Master."

And so the two of you enter, to be met by the looks of your colleagues among the council.
--

How this works: You have a certain number of dice-- at the present moment, eight (8)-- representing the resources of the Jedi Order at the current moment, as well as your ability to convince, push, and outright cajole the notoriously indepdently minded New Jedi Order to follow orders. You may divide these die as you wish. Actions will require a certain number of successes to succeed, which are gained by rolling over a certain number.

Let us say, for example, that you wish to build a new Praxeum on Hapes. You need two successes-- one for convincing the Hapan government to let you build it, and one to actually construct it. You want it done in a year, so you select two dice. You roll them for, for a DC 40, and get a 50 and a 37-- that would mean 1 success, representing that you had convinced the Hapans but construction ran over schedule, or negotiations took longer than expected. Only rarely would you need to get every success at once for an option, and it should be very obvious if you do.

That is the basic situation-- it is, admittedly, very reminiscent of Paradox of Choice.

Martial: Jaina Solo presents a number of options to you, representing a few different ways to patrol the galaxy-- for now, there is little improvement you can make. Firstly, of course, she wants you to set patrol patterns.

Actions:
[] Secure the Outer Rim: Jedi will be dispatched to the Outer Rim with a greater focus. Breaking up slaving rings and helping calm down a still tense situation, as well as help dispel the growing Zygerrian fury before it can explode. (60%, 2 Success)
[] Show of Force: The Hutts have also elected a new leader of their Cartel, Kada Dazh Tibure. Little is known of this Hutt, except for raw ambition-- you fear he may seek to take advantage of the Chaos. Dispatch Jedi to dissuade him, by patrolling the Mid-Rim nearby. (40%, 1 success)
[] Work with the Galactic Alliance: Things are...tense, between the Jedi Order and the Galactic Alliance government. Nataasi Dalaa and her authoritarian leadership soured the Order towards the higher leadership, and Jacen Solo and his madness soured the Alliance towards you. However, a new Chief of State has been elected-- a relative newcomer from a tiny planet, Odessus Tekamsah. Starting out on the right foot with him could save you years of trouble down the line-- and one way to do that would be to reinforce Galactic Alliance ships with Jedi. (75%, 1 Success)
[] Aid to the Slaves: A revolt has raged in the Corporate Sector for six years, led by slaves and revolutionaries seeking freedom. The government under Daala helped her old Imperial buddies, and promised to arrest any Jedi that did not stay away from the Sector-- plenty went anyway, of course, but then the thing with the Sith and Abeloth happened. This new Chief of State, on the other hand, at worst will turn a blind eye to reports of Jedi fighting on the side of slaves, revolutionaries, and the dispossessed; at best, he might send troops with you. (50%, 2 successes)

Diplomacy: The way of the Jedi is to keep peace-- and what better way is there to do that, than to ensure no war begins?

Actions:
[] Wild Things: A number of the minor statelets in Wild Space are planning to join the Galactic Alliance as a singular member state, which is great. Their patron-- or patrons-- are a number of weapon manufacturing companies, which is less great. See if you can't cut out the legs from this thing before the military industrial complex manages to spread even further (by which you mean finding less odious patrons, or being a patron yourself, not sabotaging the joining) (70%, 2 Successes)
[] Looking for Allies: The Jedi Order is independent in large part because a number of your members either are, or come from families which are, wealthy. But having more resources will allow you to be more independent, and get more done at the same time. (60%, 1 success)
[] Yuuzhan Vong Reconciliation: The Yuuzhan Vong were the enemy. Trillions died at their hands-- your first kill was crushing one under a pillar on Yavin IV. There has been a shallow peace between they and your people since, but it is not true peace-- only a lack of active violence. But perhaps it that can be set right, then the galaxy may be set right. (35%, 5 successes)
[] Normalization: As you said, there is a tension between yourself and the Galactic Alliance. Healing it can only help your position. (70%, 2 Successes)

Administration: While there tends to be an air of mystery, suspense and adventure around the Jedi, it does have one commonality with all other large groups-- namely, paperwork.

Actions:
[] Lost Worlds: While the Jedi Order greatly centralized following the Ruusan Reformations, and concentrated much of the strength of the Order on Coruscant, things are different now-- for one, they had up to 10,000 Jedi-- you have all of 1,000. They could patrol all of the galaxy, even with that great inefficiency-- you, on the other hand, might be well served by reestablishing the many Enclaves and Praxeums of the Old Order, or establishing your own. (50%, 2 Successes)
[] Check Ups: There is a certain generation, born between the Empire's rise and collapse, which was never thoroughly checked for Force Sensitivity. Finding them now could be useful. (60%, 2 successes)
[] Health and (Future) Home: Finding new recruits is essential for the Order's future health-- and speaking of health, it strikes you as fair enough to have Jedi offer medical check-ups for new-borns and younglings in return for recording their Force-sensitivity. You'll do it either way-- you aren't that cold-- but why not kill two birds with one stone? (50%, 1 Success)
[] Colonial Investment: Plenty of people are making the journey into the Unknown Reaches, to found new settlements on uncharted, unknown worlds-- and they require resources. Say what you will, but a Jedi is a pretty potent resource. (50%, 1 success)
[] Fill the Council: There is now an open seat on the council. Find someone to fill it. (60%, 1 success)

Knowledge: It is the way of a Jedi to learn and to teach-- to be, in their time, both student and master.

Actions:
[] Speakers of the Dead: The Order has longly, to an extent, ignored the people of Ossus, the Ysanna, children of those Jedi trapped on Ossus who could not escape before its sun was killed. They have forgotten more ancient lore than most Jedi ever know-- speak to them, and who knows what heights you may reach? If nothing else, you could turn to them as recruits-- for each is a potential Jedi. (1 Success, 60%)
[] Witches Brew: Descended from the Jedi exile Allya, the Witches of Dathomir know the Force through the conduit of spells, working it like magic to perform deeds that surpass many Jedi. While Streen and Kirana-Ti have already established a new Praxeum on the planet, it would not hurt for you to visit them, and learn what might be learned-- and again, if nothing else, many of the Witches could be recruited to the Order. (50%, 1 Success)
[] Weaving Webs: Despite their fearsome appearance, the Lucent are a people of peace and calm-- they could teach the Jedi much, and vice versa. Travel to the Voidfire Nebula, and seek an audience with them. (50%, 1 Success)
[] Bird Brained: The Talortai are, to a man, Force Sensitive-- but they hate this, and few have ever become Jedi or Sith. You imagine there is a story here-- you would like to know it. (40%, 1 Success)
[] Hiding Holocrons (Special from Mystic): Repositories of Sith and Jedi knowledge, there are plenty of Holocrons floating throughout the galaxy-- some in private collections, some in your own archives, and some lost until the Force should will otherwise. Seeking these out should be a top priority. (40%, 3 Successes)

Intrigue: It is not the way of the Jedi to slink about in secret-- but you may, on occasion, prefer a strategy of some subtlety.

Actions:
[] Mandalore's Call: Boba Fett is an enigma, wrapped in a riddle, sealed in a puzzle. You know he is calling the Mandalorians home from their many colonies, to pledge themselves to his banner; you know he seeks the destruction of Clan Kryze, and the chance for peace they represent; all else is shadow and sand to you. Send Jedi to observe him, and discover what is truth. (???)
[] Sith?: The Lost Tribe of the Sith was gravely weakened in the battle with Abeloth-- but how gravely weakened? Are they still teetering on Death's Door, as you were not so long ago? Have they mostly recovered? Are they stronger now than before it happened? You don't know, and you need to find out. (???)
[] Imperial Angst: You've trusted hutts more than you trust Jagged Fel, Mr. "Military Men making Hard Decision ought to have all the power in the galaxy." Further, even if Master Solo is correct, and you can trust the Emperor, no Empire is built on one man. No doubt there are those in the Empire who would have a return to the 'good old days'-- seek them, so you will be ready for them. (???)
[] Hutt's Power: Speaking of hutts, the Cartel has recently selected a new leader. Find out what you can about him, ideally subtly, and learn what metal makes up this slug. (???)
[] The Death of Luke Skywalker: Perhaps he simply died young-- in so far as any near septuagenarian can be called young. Or perhaps it was foul play. Or perhaps he is not dead. Whatever the case, you would like to know what killed Luke Skywalker. (???)

Personal: Insomuch as any Jedi Master can have free time, this represents yours.

[] Find a Padawan: It is the way of the Jedi to teach. Try and find an apprentice, to learn what you would teach. (100%, 1 Success)
[] Train Your Style: While you are already greatly skilled in Medium Style, you would like to become even more dangerous with it-- push it beyond the average, start innovating the Style beyond the rut it has fallen into since the rediscovery of the classic forms. (50%, 5 successes required)
[] Find a Form: You will ask Master Katarn to begin teaching you in one of the seven classical Forms. (50%, 1 Success required)
[] Seeking Companionship: You could bloviate some nonsense about trying to convince your fellow Jedi to expand your numbers, or to help make yourself less alien to the common people, or maintain emotional stability through connections, but to be honest? This will mostly be you, tossing yourself onto the dating market, because you are lonely. (100%, 1 Success)
[] Seeking Wisdom (Mystic): You thought this might be the case-- but one of your texts, when compared with a text from the Grandmaster's personal library, has revealed a hidden treasure-- what, you could not say. (60%, 3 Successes)

Sorry this is a little late, yesterday was weird. Be back to answer questions in about eight hours, after I get some sleep.

What would a typical plan look like? How do we indicate whether we give an option one dice or two?

[X] Plan New Beginning
-[X] Work with the Galactic Alliance: Things are...tense, between the Jedi Order and the Galactic Alliance government. This also works as vote formatting.

Also, as a note, I added your Administration to your character sheet.

Getting mending ties with the Order's traditional ally is probably a good idea for a first step, and getting started on ways of both ensuring the well being and the possible Force sensitivity of potential recruits is also essential. Finding out what is going with Luke is something I personally want to look into, but I'm really not keen on getting a Padawan right now. We just became head of the council. Would we have the time to give them the time and effort necessary right now when we're getting used to our new responsibilities? I feel that if we try to do both at the same time neither will get our best. Seeking Wisdom gets us going down our "Mystic" path training wise, which will hopefull pay good dividends.

You can't fail. Like, the roll will be for quality.

Oooooh. Lower is better. I didn't realize that. >.<

It might be a good idea to reverse it since most other quests list percentages as chance of success instead of failure as it might get confusing for new people. It confused me at least. XD

Nah, I just had a brain fart-- should have stuck it as 100%, higher rolls is better.

In fact, I'll just edit that to 100% real quick so it makes more sense.

- Many of your Jedi have slain soldiers of the Galactic Alliance, battling them as they fell under Jacen Solo's control. Many have lost friends, allies, and comrades in the battles with the Order-- and of course, many Jedi were slain by soldiers of the Galactic Alliance as well. Things are tense between the Jedi and the soldiers, and it seems at first that this may be no aid.

Then the Zann Consortium rears its ugly head once more. Calling it a weed would be an insult to plants-- again and again it rises, is cut down, and rises once more. It is now led by Wytell Zann, Tyber having been killed at the hands of Kyle Katarn.

The bonds of blood shed battling that third rate crime lord go a long way to sooth old wounds-- Jedi standing side by side with the Galactic Alliance military cleanses much of the hatred which still lingers between those on the ground. The upper-brass might still hate you, but the agent on the street is beginning to remember what the Jedi are.
(Galactic Alliance Military Opinion +2 (6/10))

Diplomacy: The way of the Jedi is to keep peace-- and what better way is there to do that, than to ensure no war begins?

Normalization: As you said, there is a tension between yourself and the Galactic Alliance. Healing it can only help your position. (70%, 2 Successes)
(Needed: 30, 2 Successes Rolled: 85, 25)

- So, good news, bad news time. Good news-- the absolute inneptness of the Daala administration made many turn against her political allies, voting them out of their positions. Senators who have been working since before the G-P Treaty have been tossed out on their asses-- and they were often the most fervent foes to the Jedi in the legislature. Having them gone will help.

In particular, the new chief of state, Odessus Tekemsah, is a breath of fresh air. He was a minor general dispatched to the Outer Rim during the Yuuzhan Vong wars who served with distinction, fighting them everywhere he could. Popular as a war hero in one of the less divisive wars in recent history, the Imperials respect him as a warrior-- and the rest of the Galaxy, as a liberator. He freed all of the slaves he found in the campaigns he fought, and helped move them after the war to new colonies to start new, better lives.

On the one hand, it's nice to have galactic governance led by a man you don't feel vaguely greasy talking to. Indeed, you have talked plenty.

But that is part of the problem. You are just talking. His real administrative efforts are going into freeing slaves, one way or another-- in particular, those of the Corporate Sector. Plenty of ships have been "lost" in the Corporate Sector, where, "unfortunately", the rebels have claimed them. And of course, plenty had holds filled with supplies-- you know, the basics: rations, blasters, body armor, tanks-- real basic, yeah? There are even talks that he is going to annex the CSA soon, under charges of "Holy Kriff you are the most despicable people in the galaxy, you can't be trusted with that kind of power". Which leaves him little time to work with you, and on fixing what lies broken between you.

- The Mandalorians, and the Empire, and the Sith, may claim you are baby-snatchers; but that is simply not so-- and obnoxiously hypocritical from the Mandalorians, whose grand strategy for expansion seems to be "make entire worlds of orphans then adopt them, because that's gravely superior".

But that, in any case, is certainly not how most of the Galaxy has seen you. Mostly, the parents of the Galaxy-- especially the Outer Rim-- have seen a guarantee of a good life, in a galaxy where few things have ever been certain. Add that with your far-less stringent separation between family and Initiate, and they flock to you. In their thousands, their millions, and they are tested, and you find many. So many that you will still be sorting through the new initiates for a very long time to come.

The Death of Luke Skywalker: Perhaps he simply died young-- in so far as any near septuagenarian can be called young. Or perhaps it was foul play. Or perhaps he is not dead. Whatever the case, you would like to know what killed Luke Skywalker.
Needed:??? Rolled:???

- There is not a body. Luke Skywalker-- if he is dead-- disappeared into the Force, as his masters once did so long ago, now.

But the thing is, you're starting to wonder whether Luke Skywalker really died at all. Oh, he certainly isn't here, anymore-- every Jedi in the galaxy felt the knot of realized potential, of power, that was Luke Skywalker unwind. You also doubt very much that he will be coming back to this party, so to speak. Certainly, whatever else is true, he's gone off to some never-reached horizon. Of course, perhaps that is simply the part of you that wants all things to be good, noble, just and righteous, to believe that the Greatest Jedi could not be merely mortal-- might not have the fate which so many seem to share in. But, it is also true that 69 is fairly young to die for average citizens, never mind a Jedi Master-- and you have found no sign of foul play; if nothing else, Luke Skywalker defeated the Sith one last time by denying them his life.

But you have recordings of the event in question, examined the quarters he lived in, and found little. For the moment, it seems wise to maintain his death, if only to not do such damage to his son.
Reward:???

Personal: Insomuch as any Jedi Master can have free time, this represents yours.

Seeking Wisdom (Mystic): You thought this might be the case-- but one of your texts, when compared with a text from the Grandmaster's personal library, has revealed a hidden treasure-- what, you could not say.

- Damnations! You grow so distracted by your investigation of Master Skywalker's death that you can do little research in the texts.
-Failure-

Galactic News (50 ABY)
Galactic News

Death of Luke Skywalker:
After fifty years of noble life, Luke Skywalker-- destroyer of the Death Star, redeemer of Vader, and first of the New Jedi-- has become one with the Force, joining his wife. His funeral was a small thing, attended only by family and close friends-- a more public day of mourning is to be held on Coruscant, early next year. He has been replaced by Master Daro Thorn, a younger member of the Council.

War in the Corporate Sector: The Corporate Sector has been riven by war as slaves and revolutionaries fight for their freedom-- six years that sector has been torn apart by this battle, as the full brutality of war has been unleashed on its innocents-- and as all things burn. With the illicit aid from the Galactic Alliance, the rebels have gained some momentum-- but it is a fragile thing at best, one that may be stopped.

Mandalorians Missing: The Mandalorians gathered under Boba Fett have been silent of late; they have not been seen lately. Bo-Katan Kryze, leader of the exiled New Mandalorians, has urged the rest of the galaxy to be cautious of those usurpers who claim her rightful title.

Supernova: A number of worlds in the Colonies have had to be evacuated after the star Toron 009 went supernova. Many refugees are sure to be entering the Galactic Alliance, throwing things into a chaotic slump-- not to mention the incalculable damage done to those mines, which fed much of the Alliance military.

Apprentices: Ben Skywalker has recently taken on a new Padawan learner, found in the great search which the order recently undertook-- a girl, by the name of Kira.

Enclave Ransacked: The abandoned Jedi enclave on Dantooine has been, once again, ransacked-- many artifacts were stolen by assailants known and unknown.
--
So I'm thinking I'll post Tionne Solusar's character sheet, then turn 2.
