This is asoiaf, marriage is a political tool more than anything. Cerenna is cool and the gold is great but gold is the only useful thing we are going to get out of that match in my opinion. Tywin isn't going to make Tyrion his heir. Remember, Tysha? Remember that this is the asshole that was going to watch him die when he suspected he was innocent? Once his usefulness is at an end, I doubt Tywin will humor him any longer.

We're great at interacting with the Faith. It's just that our preferred method involves swords and strangulation, which probably won't be as helpful here.

This is actually sort of funny but I'm actually more concerned about the High Septon thing... I actually would like to get involved in it and back one of the two anti-Tywin candidates. I can't support Charcolt's vote because it just strikes me as crazy... As much as we may want it, the Northern High Septa isn't going to win. It would be dramatic enough to elect the first woman High Septon but also the first Northern? That's something that requires dramatic amounts of political power and can anyone honestly tell me that you think Jon has enough political allies to defeat both Hand of the King Jon Arryn's candidate and richest man in Westeros Tywin Lannister's candidate? Honestly it seems like a trap and it's going to just backfire. The fact that an Old God worshiper is so arrogant that he's going to try to involve himself in the election of a religion that he doesn't even worship and then tries to do it past the objections of both major factions? At least if we backed one of the two Anti-Lannisters we could portray ourselves as doing so because:
Mern Goodman, like us was a knight and we respect men who live by the chivalrous code or Dolora Stone who most people would just expect us to back out of sheer loyalty to our namesake. In contrast if we back Dana Wells, it's pretty obvious to the rest of the Seven Kingdoms including our own smallfolk that Jon doesn't really care about any region except the North and frankly our support is likely to backfire on her. Seriously we should just pick one of the Anti-Lannister candidates and look forward to a High Septon who either likes Jon for being a soldier like he was or is willing to put aside former differences due to having mutual political patrons.
Don't back the trap. Unless we pour 100 DPs into this, you're not overriding the political desires of The Reach, The Hand of the King, or Money Bags. And even if we do, we'll be left with a High Septon who'll be so busy convincing people she's not simply a puppet of Jon Stormcrown (since he'll have been the one who single-handedly engineered her election despite not even worshiping the Seven) that she won't have time or the political will to help us.
