A Dragon of the North VIII: Whispers of War

We'll probably end up wearing it more likely than not. Getting one from Margery seems like a very long shot. Much like getting an engagement with her.
Well, she thought Loras would win her the crown but Joffrey (aka the Fawn Knight) bribed him so he lost.
Guess who is known for winning jousts and made a good impression on her?
It's enough to make me wonder if the time investment is worth it (pursuing Margery
This...would need a longer explanation than I'm willing to write at the moment.
But to make a comparison, we all know that longer quests grant better rewards while easy solutions tend to backfire/be suboptimal. ;)

I want to know if Oberyn is trying to get at us through Willas, and by extension the Tyrells.
You've kinda highlighted one, I guess, problem I have with this quest: the omakes. Don't get me wrong, they're great but they also give us insights that Jon doesn't have. He shouldn't know that the Martells have connections with the Dragonsworn. Or are out to get him and his dragon. We know what they are up to, so we put our decisions around that.

I wish Droman hadn't done that omake, and left it a surprise. That way we could have figured it out ourselves as Jon learned it. I would have like that surprise. Just my opinion.

So far, I am surprised to admit that I'm leaning towards Cerenna over Margaery, although that may be because I worry about what might happen if we try to ally with the Tyrells only to get caught between them and Dornish Dragonsworn. Spending time with the Lannisters in general should let us keep loose tabs on Joffrey and "his" Lannisters while staying in the good graces of those few decent lions. Taking the favor gives us a leg up with Cerenna, although if we don't wear it later it would be better to have just not taken it rather than leading her on falsely. Spending time with the Redwynes and the Hightower funeral gives us some synergy to touch base with the Tyrells, although it's not the focus actually picking them for an action would be, and lets us build and maintain our good ties with those two houses and possibly get another in-road to Tyrell.

I'm not all that thrilled at spending time with Bobby B, but it does let us feel out his plans and attitude, which should give us an idea of the order of magnitude the fallout of the reveal will generate, whether it will spark a full blown civil war, and possibly influence it in our favor somewhat.

This...would need a longer explanation than I'm willing to write at the moment.

I actually have this horrific sinking sensation from time to time, it's telling me that both Cerenna and Margaery are actually well-concealed bad ends and the only safe choice is Desmera. I'm ignoring it because it's dumb, but I cannot help but feel it would be hilarious if it were true.

Edit: and then i went and changed my vote. Hoh wellz.

Do you think that the possible complications that might result from favoring a potential Lannister wife when the hammer is dropped on Cersei and and the Mad Brat are worth forgoing her favor?

[X] Yes - You'll take on Ser Daven as a sparring partner, and continue to see the lady Cerenna in a public venue. At least until his own tourney, two weeks from now. (Warning: This counts as a Lannister interaction, automatically claiming 1 of 4 weekly slots for the next two weeks)

[X] Accept - Take a few moments longer in kissing her hand to grasp the favour. (Effect; Acquire Cerenna's favour covertly, can choose to wear in near future for tourney appearances)

[X] Attend upon the Hightower funerals (invitation granted by Alerie Hightower)
[X] Attend upon the Redwynes I
[X] Attend upon the Tyrells II

Alright, fuck it. I couldn't decide, so I picked both! xP

We are here to get our own shit together first and foremost. So let's do that. And our primary goal here was winning the tourney, backing up Arryn, and getting a waifu. The first will happen at the end, we did the second, so let's focus on the third entirely - more poking around in major affairs can wait. The funeral is required, we need to meet Desmera, and I spent the last two on the Tyrells and Lannisters. Picked up the favor just in case we can't snag Margaery's in time - while there is concern it might be a let down, Cerenna is also the practical sort...or we won't be marrying her, so it doesn't matter if she's offended.

Drinking with Bobby and the poking around with the DS can wait till next week when the obligations to meet the Redwynes and go to the funeral are resolved (since Tyrells should be considered locked in for the whole ten remaining weeks and the Lannister thing is a two week commitment).

This could be a good chance to get our One Handed Sword skill up to Elite (it's sitting at Impressive right now. Has been for a while.)

More and more I'm considering not attending the King. I'll see where the vote is in the morning and make my decision then.

There's not any reason to do that apart from being irritated at having a skill at Impressive. If we're swording and boarding then we're at Legendary. If we're not swording and boarding we have a free hand to two hand Blackfyre.

The only time that isn't true is if we don't have a bastard sword (meaning we don't have Blackfyre) and things are fucked. Or we don't have a hand. And things are even more fucked.
