[X][Cape name] Write in: Lux's Zenith (light's highmost point)
I think that's what the name would mean at least? Friends and most of the public call her Lux, people who are formal (like Armsmaster and the PRT) can use the full name and lose precious seconds of battle saying the whole mouthful
Zenith for times when she gets pissed off or gets a little too, well
Zenith.
[X][Costume] Magical/Modern-ish?:
-[X] something functional, with a robe/trench coat combo that's functional but no less distinctive
-[X] not too baroque, go for a simple design and warm colors evoking light, the sun etc.
–[X] consider adding abstract designs that evoque who she's become as a hero as time goes on (harsh edges for when she acts violent, wavy ones for when nice for example) all similarly centered on sun/light/warm/sky ideography
-[X] loads of pockets and maybe a basic aid kit later on when/if we get more money
-[X] Try some lower face coverings or sunglasses for now. Two choices for a mask either:
–[X] A power effect that can be applied to the face and make those who see us unable to describe how our face looks like after the fact (cameras only show a ball of bright light in place of where her face should be (definitely requires magic))
–[X] A featureless mask with no visible eye-holes that lets the caste-mark shine through nonetheless (probably requires sorcery or some nice bit of DIY, but I'd bet it can be done with mundane materials or toybox acquired ones)
I'm taking a bunch from
@Profilozof's plan here, in my defense, it is a good plan and I only plagiarised it a little.
[X][Doggo name] Write in: Solana
In the southern Mediterranean levante is the name given to the easterly wind, it is also known as (wind of) solano, thus Solana.
[X][Initiation] Hierarchies are to be abolished (Initiation: Salina's Humility – Whenever you spend a scene deliberately humbling yourself in service to those of lesser status and greater need, overturning the natural hierarchy of power, you gain 3 Will. Taylor will gain the minor intimacy "Hierarchies are meant to be abolished")
Canon!Taylor was a master, thus she had by default some serious issues with not being in control of... a lot of things really (capes who trigger as masters tending to desire control most above all), which is understandable but when your power is the one thing both holding open the wound in your psyche that caused you to feel that and is low-key keeping your psyche together as a result... things get messy. So her taking this path seems to me like a very interesting direction to take the character, which is also in someways surprisingly similar but feels to me... different, fresh in some hard to define way, I want to see where it goes.
From a mechanical POV I don't think it'd be so bad, pretty much most of what she'll do will fit under that category from a certain point of view. Something as simple as riding public transportation on patrol when not in a hurry or helping a homeless person get to the shelter in one piece while going through Empire territory could count. I think so at least. Am I at least half-right there
@Amazing Abzan?
It's not like we'd have to grovel in front of our 'lessers' all the time and while this is a decision that will shape Taylor it's not like she has to always go about it the same way or like she cannot eventually develop other ways to gain Will. In point of fact, I'd argue that the more time goes on, thus the more powerful she gets, the easier it'd be to trigger the conditions for it. Is it not humbling for one who has battled Endbringers and made S-Class threats bleed to help an old lady cross the street?
The image it brings to mind reminds of both Superman (who could just dedicate himself to fighting world-ending threats and not the 'little' stuff), taking the time to rescue cats from trees and reasure the owners the feline is fine before he flies away with a smile; and of Spiderman being deceptively strong and powerful and having run with the capital A Avengers (seriously the guy holds back from using his full strength in comics from what I know because if he doesn't he might just accidentally some poor random robber, the people in his rogues gallery meanwhile are... well they are not slouches that's
for sure) yet incredibly down to earth to the average New Yorker, who adore him because sure he has punched at least one cosmic being in the face, but he's still there for them.
Fakedit (you can skip this is just me shaking off the nerves of posting by writing some stream-of-conciousness panicky thoughts): *painfully sarcastic (as in I am in pain)* I love timezones because I will find out I just got out of my daily duties and crossed all 't's and dotted 'i's and then I'll be going to bed and I'll cluelessly check SV before bed because I found a really good quest that has actually made me invested in surprisingly few updates and it probably has no updates because it always updates at night for me and there was an update last night and the author, who lives half the world away is closing the vote in two hours, so I'll. just. write fast lmao
Really liking this quest thank you for writing QM. Sorry for coming in so late but uhh, time zones evil
