I don't think I agree with that. Unless, in short, it's a trap choice, which I would rather hope a one word binary difference vote wouldn't be, I would guess...

Hot Rage: Makes us more prone to lashing out in the heat of the moment, fiery and spontaneous.

Cold Rage: Makes us more grudging and unforgiving, less spontaneous but more prone to just... holding to our hatred forever no matter what, type of thing.

So, in effect, would you rather we be the grudging type or the brash type, not 'would you rather have good style anger or bad style anger?'

Not in the Exalted Limit Break sense:
-Hot rage means you fuck things up right now. You take suboptimal decisions, fights that you shouldn't
-Cold rage means you fuck things up which you regret later. You spend resources that shouldn't have been considered resources.

Hot rage is the type where you wind up dueling the visiting Elector Count in public because he's a known rapist. Yes, he has a runefang and your sword is going to last all of thirty seconds, you're going to fight him anyway.
Cold rage is the type where you wind up sacrificing your crew to win battles or engage your sister to the man she hates for political advantage.

Alrighty then.

What was the offer Sal gave to his sister? That she could stow away as a crew member? I don't think she would have objected that much.

Also, Sal definitely has mommy issues.

I don't know what you're talking about. He has a lot fewer mommy issues than lots of characters I could mention. Like Princess Azula, or Sterling Archer. Or Fate Testerossa.

As to the other, Isabella is not aboard ship.

I agree with this sentiment, but I also suggest we do not attempt to 1v1 the Black Arc. We should, however, paint something derogatory on the side if we get the chance.

Linguistics charms.

What does sunlight do the WH vampires, again?

Fun things.

Could we get our EXP and Essence add to the front page? I think we're at 7 and 2 respectively, but I could be wrong.

I only count the 6 xp from completing the last adventure, do you see any other xp awards listed?

Nothing ever happens in Mousillion (Kin near and far)
Wanted to make a little commentary on an entertaining, if long overdue update *looks pointedly at GM*

-Noting that our PC is cheerily xenophobic. Also doesn't seem to countenance a difference between High Elves, Wood Elves and Druchii, all of whom either make an appearance or are mentioned in this update.

-Isabella is a dear. Actually have to say that I have taken a liking to her phlegmatic suitor; given how the Estalians do seem to be on the hot-blooded side of things , a man who is demonstrably capable of keeping his cool bears investigating.
-I will say that I don't really get what happened with the chessboard and the dance lesson.

-Sal's manuvering around his mother is hilarious.
I wonder if his elder brother is married, since I suspect it's only her preoccupation with Isabella that's currently keeping her off his case.
So interfering in her plans for Izzy is entirely rational self-interest. Yup, no sentiment there at all.

-Interesting that his windfall didn't result in a Backing increase for him, either familywise or elsewhere.
At least he kept the banner.
Wonder if it counts as an artifact.

-That's rather a long, dangerous way to travel for a tourney, and with horses. That rather suggests the clan is more wealthy than I first thought.
While I can see a young man like Alonsico doing so, it's rather less likely that a staid misanthrope like Baltasar would. Which suggests he's using his son's enthusiasms as a cover for business. Whether mercantile, governmental or clerical is yet to be seen.

-Lol right to bear arms.
Who the fuck taught a bear to shoot, and why wasn't it a Kislevite?
Come to think of it, how did Kislevite ships make it to the Western ocean?

-Who's taking odds that we run into one several of Sal's exes on this trip?
Because the perfect time to do so would be in the company of family members who are obliged to carry tales back to the parental units.

-Insufficient data for the vote options, so I will abstain.
Looking forward to the fight though.

Solar XP and you!
Unless Solar xp is something completely different that makes 7.

Solar xp is indeed something different from regular xp. It is something I am blatantly and cheerfully stealing from inspired by Third Edition. There's probably going to be a few adjustments made over the course of the game given the difference in editions and play formats (forum game vs tabletop), but the two primary questions you have are 'what are they' and 'how do I get some'.

What is Solar XP?

Solar xp is, essentially, xp gained from acting like a Solar that you cannot spend on Solar charms. You could spend it on securing backgrounds such as Allies, Contacts, Followers or Artifact dots, boost your basic Abilities or Attributes, or invest it into sorcerous workings such as an all-weather road that burns any greenskin that steps upon it, but the xp is inapplicable to be spent on charms (Native or Spirit charms, either way).

How do we gain Solar XP?

There are two primary ways to obtain Solar xp; being a good team player and acting to your Caste. Normally the 'be a good team player' means letting other players at the table have their chance to shine, setting them up to succeed or otherwise being a credit to the team. If the Dawn Caste is planning a major campaign, the Night Caste spies on the enemy camp for them. If the Night Caste wants to play Santa Claus, the Twilight makes sure there's enough toy trains for all the good little boys and girls. If the Eclipse is trying to drum up funds for an expedition, the Zenith can give a charity concert, etc. However, given the paucity of circlemates in the story so far, I am interpreting this as inspiring other people to act heroically. Warhammer has no shortage of heroes, but it does have a great need of them. A Solar inspires, by word and deed alike, and when Salvadore helps someone help themselves, acts as a mentor in their heroes journey or otherwise kindles the flame in others, he gets a point.

Similarly, when he acts like the Eclipse Caste he is, he gets a point. In short, that means 'being a diplomat' and 'being an explorer', though obviously there's more to it than that. Exploration means going to the places on the map that say 'here be dragons' and coming back with the dragon's name, boldly going where no man has gone before (or at least returned from), or otherwise conquering geographic obstacles that stand in the way. Similarly, it isn't enough to just deliver a message to someone, though delivering an important message to a city under siege might qualify. Bringing people together, either as individuals or societies, resolving meaningful disputes, adjusting or exploiting traditions or legal systems to your ends or otherwise navigating social obstacles also gets you a point. Mending the divides between Ungols and Gospodars in Kislev would qualify, or exploiting Dawi traditions surrounding gifts to gain an audience with a mountain-king who personally bears a Grudge against you.

The last way to gain Solar xp is to be meaningfully challenged, threatened or harmed in pursuit, defense or upholding of a dearly-held belief or intimacy. The reason this is not one of the primary ways to gain Solar xp is twofold; because I expect the players to put themselves at risk for most of these anyway, and because what constitutes 'meaningful' here is a bit nebulous, so I currently anticipate using this at my own discretion more than awarding it due to player activity.

Basically going maximum Kirk.

Possibly getting in bed with the incredibly sexy dragon along the way :p

Harumph. Typical umgi impatience.

-Noting that our PC is cheerily xenophobic. Also doesn't seem to countenance a difference between High Elves, Wood Elves and Druchii, all of whom either make an appearance or are mentioned in this update.

As to your first point, it isn't so much that he's xenophobic. Just by leaving Estalia he has become more traveled than 90% of the non-refugee humans in the Old World and has experienced stereotypes firsthand. Some he has debunked in his mind, others he has seen reinforced, and others aren't as common back home but wow are the Border Princes a bunch of banana republics. For the second...academically he acknowledges that the dark elves and high elves aren't the same political entity or would if he was a better academic, seriously Salvadore the point of getting you all that fancy, expensive education wasn't just so you could oogle your instructors get it together man and you'll note how he short changes the one but is out for blood for the other. As to the wood elves...who even knows?

-Isabella is a dear. Actually have to say that I have taken a liking to her phlegmatic suitor; given how the Estalians do seem to be on the hot-blooded side of things , a man who is demonstrably capable of keeping his cool bears investigating.

Hasn't met the lad yet himself, but from what he hears from Isabella he'd make for a respectable Burgermeister for some middling town in the Empire somewhere. As she is an entirely reliable and unbiased source of information we can assume that this means he's happy counting coins, doesn't cause problems for anyone and is so blandly inoffensive he could get lost in a crowd of three people.

-I will say that I don't really get what happened with the chessboard and the dance lesson.

I may go back and change it, it was one of the bits that I just wanted done and over with so I could move on and post the chapter. I make no promises.

His oldest brother is married, mami has changed her harping from 'when are you going to settle down' to 'I want grandbabies'. With any of her other children she'd try subtlety but sadly her eldest has Souske Sagara levels of romantic perception. His wife managed to get his attention by stabbing him with a knife with a letter attached to it. (Though in his defense, that was partially her working up the courage to ask him out manifesting in a...mostly harmless outlet. And the scar is a talking point at parties now anyway). So mami is regularly sending baby clothes, cribs, setting enough food in front of his wife for two and other suggestions that maybe it's time for her to be a grandmother now. The girl is probably just vain about her looks.

-Interesting that his windfall didn't result in a Backing increase for him, either familywise or elsewhere.

This was actually supposed to lead into a vote (and one will probably happen later, when I'm between updates where there isn't really a vote going on) on how to cash in the treasure. The windfall is not enough as-is to take Salvadore's Resources up a notch (though they're certainly a boost in the right direction for the Chavez family, and with it Backing) but House Chavez itself isn't a major player to be backing anyone right now, though they back him as best they're able. Boosting Resources shouldn't be hard as an Exalt (and even less so for an Eclipse whose metaphorical card reads 'have ship, will travel') but it will become increasingly more difficult to raise dots the higher you go. Similarly, higher dots give greater boons, but take more effort to maintain; a merchant empire needs someone at the helm, a legendary artifact will have forces scheming to take it from you by hook or crook, a world spanning spy network requires constant attention, and political allies have a lot of give, but need a lot of take to make the relationship work well.

At least he kept the banner.
Wonder if it counts as an artifact.

Two dot artifact, a mass unit does not take environmental damage from sun-based environmental effects. No word as to how it interacts with creatures of darkness. Currently simply something Salvadore has in his possession, not 'his' in the sense that it should go on the character sheet.

While Baltasar Chavez would swear on a stack of holy icons that he is a nobleman, his contribution to the house is that of a horse rancher. Winning renown at a Bretonnian tournament would be something of a feather in his cap, and provided the mares he brought are in fit shape after the voyage he feels confident in his and Alonsico's ability to steal an Estalian victory from Mousillion. After all, the Men of the Grail may produce the largest knights, the strongest knights, perhaps even the hardiest knights...but the Lady of the Lake does not produce the cleverest of knights. Why, just look at what Tileans did with longer lances.
As to the expense...surely Gabriella would not sabotage her own son by sending her brother-in-law on a trip she didn't think her son could afford.

-Lol right to bear arms.
Who the fuck taught a bear to shoot, and why wasn't it a Kislevite?

They played a Kislevite on stage, if that helps.

Come to think of it, how did Kislevite ships make it to the Western ocean?

First, Kislevites build a ship from scratch. There is little proper timber to be had, so best they can do is scrap together what withered, gnarled old shrubs that lie on the oblast and hope that it doesn't pitch over at the first wave. Next, they make sure their sailors have a proper funeral. Can't do much for them all told, and it isn't like they'll have that sort of luxury when they make it to the open sea. If they have unearned luck it'll be a kracken that finds them, it will only take a sailor in each arm. If the winds blow from the north they'll find something worse, which is more likely. Then they have to actually leave port, which is best done during winter months as it avoids the mud. You will of course have to send men out to break up the ice so you can leave harbor, but only some of them will lose themselves to frostbite and drowning. And of course the cargo; it has to be hauled in by hand, uphill both ways. In the snow of course, usually during blizzards so thick you have to cut them with a knife. The nights are so cold they steal breath from a man's lungs, and the only way to stay warm is to cut your horse's belly open and and sleep in there, hoping you won't find a bear. Then you'll find a bear of course, because Ursan has his sense of humor he does....

Solar xp is not handed out for losing your shirt. Besides, Paco would be upset that your wardrobe budget has to be spent on replacements rather than covering any fashion eventuality. Do not upset Paco, he makes sure your fancy hats remain the fanciest of hats. Paco deserves a raise.

Speaking of Paco, hats, and family, did we keep that elf's hat? Can Salvador wear it in front of his mother to annoy her with the implied shenanigans involved in getting it?

What about losing pants in a hurried escape from a liason?

Honestly he's better at bluffing his way out than conventional out the window shenanigans. I blame people putting physical ability tertiary, really. And the lack of any athletics doesn't help.

Speaking of Paco, hats, and family, did we keep that elf's hat? Can Salvador wear it in front of his mother to annoy her with the implied shenanigans involved in getting it?

Of course he kept that, don't be daft. How else would he taunt what's-his-face ("Ampescioun, you cretin! If you are going to take my dignity the least you could do was keep my name as well!") if when they meet again?

So basically ToraDora with him as protagonist and Isa as short(-tempered) tsundere?

Note to self; look into ToraDora. I do like me some tsundere....
