Fuck Zangetsu, having a spoiled child for a partner is not a good idea.
A Shinigami's sword stays behind after they die unless it was destroyed in the process.
A Zanpakutō can be used and mastered by someone else other then its original user.
Just inquire with Kukaku if anyone other then Kaien or Isshin joined up and if they did if they left their sword behind.
I know Kaien's was killed and if there are no other Shiba Reapers in days long past then ask for Engetsu it's not like Isshin is using her these days.

We're not going to have bankai in a while though. We're not even going to fight hollows for a while. Appeasing Zangetsu can wait.
While the note from the Captain says that he's in no rush, you don't put that of for no good reason.
"I had to appease my sword"

Out of all three options, getting on the good side of Komamura is most likely to give Ichigo an assignement in the living world.

I'm not sure any of them really trust Kenpachi, per se. I wouldn't be surprised if they only trust that if they tell him to go fight someone, he'll probably do it. He certainly didn't get his Captain seat by gaining the approval of the other Captains.
"Tolerate" is probably a better word to describe their disposition towards Kenpachi.

their are 3 ways to get a captains seat.
1. pass the captains test with approval via 3 current captains.
2. kill a captain in 1 on 1 combat in front of 200 members of that captain's squad.
3. I don't remember this one, but I believe it's stated when Kenpachi fought another captain in the rescue the princess arc.
Do me a solid and don't be pedantic over this, as a general rule shinigami value the bond between themselves and their Zanpakutou a great deal, so it should be quite worrying for a powerful and talented student to have gained a shikai only to have problems with their partner when in battle. Now knowing this, if this issue isn't resolved, who would trust Ichigo to be able to perform on the Field without Zangetsu lengthening himself, or generally fucking over Ichigo in random ways?
Remember that Ichigo stated very clearly that he was a zanjutsu specialist in the arena. A zanjutsu specialist who has problems with their Zanpakutou.
