Bleach: Derailed

Next time on, Bleach: Bounts are Canon and Nothing you Do Will Change That!
Nothing at all.

Actually, we can almost certainly get the dance later, for now we can bond a little with our friend.

I feel like we won't get another chance to see her worries like this for a long time. Plus be the good friend, Strawberry.

I cannot tell if this is sarcasm or not.

I am not kidding. Because depending on the tone, I could be getting insulted right now.
Nope, you've already stated you hate her character and your posts come across as bashing for not being a faultless perfect supersoldier (even down to deriding her for "trying to show off").

You seem determined to twist everything to make her out to be some evil incompetent harpy.

Evil? No. Harpy? Yes. Incompetent? Jury's still out on that one.

As someone who has never seen the anime, I must ask: Why do some people dislike the Bounts?

I actually thought it was a pretty well done filler arc.

Bounts are a handful of spiritually powerful people. They were created by accident when Unethical Soul Society Experiments (TM) blew up.

They each have access to the standard Bleach superpowers of being fast and tough and stylishly dressed. They also each have a unique superpower of some kind which is embodied in a "Doll", which is an object that is intelligent and can turn into something fancy and magical. One bount's doll turns into a fire monster, one is a metal spider thingy, one is a snake that makes more snakes, and so on.

They can live forever by eating dead people. They can also eat live people for a power boost, but that's really unhealthy for them. They plan to break in to the Soul Society for Revenge!

The end.

Hmm, come to think of it, I stopped watching the anime after the conclusion of the Bount arc.

The problem with 'em for me was their obvious filler nature, they remind me of the ninja peacock from Naruto. Their Arc did nothing for the overall story (how could it, the manga didn't have it) and just introduced a bunch of characters which it then killed off, fine and dandy conclusion everything was right in the world and the actual content could be aired with no change.

It's been years so I don't exactly remember much but I believe their powers were kinda meh as well.

Edit: Not that I particularly care that they're in this quest. I just have no clue where they fit in. I guess it'll be something that'll come up when we reach the first milestone, seeing the family again.

The summary of it is fine, but the execution was lacking and they weren't actually integrated into the story. The Fullbringers explained why humans could have spiritual powers. The Bounts... are just kind of there, and then they're over and never mentioned again.

At the start of the series, Rukia was still...how to put this...

Still torn up over Kaien's death to some extent. Obviously, before Kubo thought that bit up it was just 'she's weak, yo'. After Kaien became a thing, we see at several points how torn up she is inside. She's not operating at full and hasn't been for years.

Unless I'm seriously misremembering my Bleach trivia.

Rukia is easily strong enough to be a high ranking seated officer, possessing both shikai and being an expert kido user, but never really got over the PTSD of the whole Kaien situation. (Because Soul Society doesn't have any psychologists I guess)
This is less to do with Soul Society or Kubo so much as it's about Japanese(and to an extent, Far Eastern in general) culture. Psychological failings are considered to reflect poorly on your upbringing, on your organization and on your family. As such, culturally you're supposed to be stoic mchardass about it and act like you're fine without acknowledging it, allowing everyone to also pretend it didn't happen and save everyone the shame of having to acknowledge your being an embarrassment.

Makes it rather hard to implement mental healthcare initiatives, despite the professionals on the job

Kind of part and parcel with being anime-only filler, though. Can't do anything that affects the later arcs.

I dunno. When I watched it, it felt sufficiently Bleachy to me. Wacky band of antagonists with unique powers. Some cool fights. Yumichika getting dispatched to the World of the Living because he's the only one in Squad 11 who does his paperwork in a timely fashion. Ichigo having to deal with inner hollow trying to break out and go berserk at inconvenient, or very convenient, times.
