Bleach: Derailed

@WalletLord , Ichigo is already kind of like Kaien, but different. He's not likely to get more similar.

Next time, on I'll Totally Just Learn One or Two Good Jutsu and Use them for the Whole Series with Minor Variations...

[] Hoho
-force a single step, vision blurry, eyes watering, but past her with your blade swinging

[] Hakuda
-but you continue the stroke, and then turn to smash your elbow back into his arm

[] Bakudo
-stops, halted by the flat plate of blue light on your wrist! "So I thought, why can't I just do both

[] Hado
-lightning crackles down the steel of your sword, and the spirit's smile fixes into a static mask that
Man, Bakudo sounds fun. Originally I was leaning toward hoho, but now I'm glad I caught all the way up before voting.

Lookit dat sweet sweet tactical flexibility. Aw yeah.

100% in for an Ichigo who can do more than run at things with a sword. Hado is neat, and I want it as well, but it's not as varied as Bakudo.

You know what's great about Bakudo? We can Aizen before Aizen does!

Aizen has a small barrier protecting his back to guard against the exact kind of "no, I'm behind you" hoho shenanigans that infest a lot of higher level Bleach combat.

Yeah every choice is very nice. Except for Hoho. That's boring. We have a chance to make Ichigo into something really different fighting-style wise, or at least start the first steps on his road. We can pick up flash-steps later, but incorporating extra elements to fightning should be done as early as possible.

I keep you from moving and put up a shield before you can hurt me.

While I continue stabbing you with my sword.

I'm still completely in the camp of wanting to see Ichigo become a Kido master - and I'm also still in the camp of thinking that adequate Kido skill trumps everything - included speed, FISTPOWAH, Sword swinging and all the rest. And to those inclined to say 'nuh uh, speed is king!' lemme ask you this; how's that work out for the Flash et all, when those speedsters have to fight people that can throw up barriers and/or fuck with their senses? As I recall, that general group, those speedsters, get pretty regularly fuuuuuucked by 'em! And of course, I shouldn't even need to say why theoretically, being able to throw out barriers and suchlike is more versatile than punching harder or slicing more neatly - it's just more widely applicable to problems than 'I punch it' and 'I swing my sword at it'.

Let's be the fuckers, not the fucked!

Also, I feel like of all options, Bakudo's got the best chance of advancing Ichigo directly towards his overarching goal of 'get back to his sisters, reassure them and be with them' - if any Kido's gonna let a Shinigami induce spirit vision in others, or temporarily harden their Reiatsu just right so they're as tangible as a gigai/are mundanely visible/audible, it'd be Bakudo.

...I always laugh when I remember how much of a siscon Ichigo canonically was, and how little that was played with.

"But Omegahugger, I thought you were in love with Squad 11? Why are you going for a shameful Kido?"

Because no one can deny that what Ichigo's doing is a very Squad 11 type approach to it.

...ok, you seem to forget you need incantations for spells.

Also, Karin can already see ghosts.

I want Hakuda but I want Bakudo more, and with the new surge of voters I might actually get it.....

Remember, we can always become generalists later. Just because we head towards sanicspeed now doesn't mean we can't train other skills. Given that Kenpachi is going to be a problem soon, I'd like to have our dodge skill up as high as possible. We probably won't be able to hurt him or avoid being hurt, but maybe we can turn a lethal wound into a mere incredibly painful wound with a last second dodge.

You can say them ahead of time.
and you can load a muzzle-loading gun ahead of time too, that doesn't make it less of a liability after the first shot.

Edit: wait, you quoted the bit about saying the name, not that chant. I... don't recall any instances of someone being able to fire off kido without saying anything at all like that.

I get the feeling they are severely misunderstanding Kido of all kinds to a lethal degree.
