Jesus Christ we need more bodies to stamp out the Saberface menace
I don't like saberfaces much, but summoning Hassans doesn't mesh as well narratively.

Shirou wanted a servant that could act in the shadows, and who would not be opposed to using underhanded methods. Also, with his experience in the Ainsworth Grail War, he knew that he didn't need firepower, as he already has enough.I don't like saberfaces much, but summoning Hassans doesn't mesh as well narratively.
Another reason to pick Serenity over Arturia is that FSN-Shirou has Avalon while we don't. This means that it will be much easier to keep him alive if Saber is with him since Avalon only gives limited immortality when you are in a contract with Saber and constantly near her.
Saber is the lesser evil to me as no other choice beats Serenity. Personally, I'd rather get Robin Hood or alternate forms of other HS with their stealth phantasms like Seigfried's cloak or Arturia Alter with Carnwennan(?).Shirou wanted a servant that could act in the shadows, and who would not be opposed to using underhanded methods. Thus, instead of summoning a chivalrous knight that would have poor compatibility with him, he summoned an Assassin that would be more accepting of his methods, and would cover up one of the areas he's lacking in; stealth. Add to that the fact that he would be denying his enemies the chance of summoning a stealthy assassin with unknown powers, and Sabers are rather predictable too (Me hit with sword. Me have huge beam).
Really, what I don't see is why we would summon Saber of all classes, and King Arthur at that. Rider or Archer I could understand, but Saber?
Replace Shirou by Assassin and Saber by Shirou, and you got the same plan, with the added benefit that FSN Shirou will not horribly die due to Avalon not working. Also, Shirou and Medea working together can be the spooks a la Kerry and Maiya while Saber repeats her role in F/Z with less mindbreak.

Saber has to be close to FSN Shirou, and she will not be close to him if she's fighting other servants under a separate master, while Shirou has his own servant,Avalon works fine as long Saber herself is around, FSN Shirou doesn't need to be her master. And Pain Breaker works just as well provided he doesn't follow Fate route and do things like tank Herc's axesword or have a sword contest with Gil, which should both be butterflied anyhow.
How would they have been butterflied away?Avalon works fine as long Saber herself is around, FSN Shirou doesn't need to be her master. Are you seriously telling me the Fate route has any chance of still happening with all that's happened and the deviations we'll continue to pull off?
So the specific situation is butterflied. Are you seriously telling me the Fate route has any chance of still happening with all that's happened and the deviations we'll continue to pull off?
And remember that the master canon Medea killed is still around as well.
We killed him in the first update. And remember that the master canon Medea killed is still around as well.
And his involvement in the war by witnessing the Archer-Lancer fight can't be? Will Shinji even be around by then to cause it? Will there be a Bloodfort deployed to have Rin engage Lancer at school? We're derailing things quite a bit before the VN starts. So the specific situation is butterflied.
Shirou being an idiot that jumps in front of servant attacks has not been butterflied. Heracles and Ilya have not been butterflied. Gilgamesh has not been butterflied.
I was refering to herk introducing shiro to his big old stone sword. That is still a possibility since Ilya is still on course. Gilgamesh is pretty much unpredictable unless your the author since his power esstially makes him a plot device in most cases. Are you seriously telling me the Fate route has any chance of still happening with all that's happened and the deviations we'll continue to pull off?
