I dont really care about Sansa so I'll abstain from that but there is no way that I'll advocate being a consort.
[X] No.
[X] No.
Being the Queen's Consort would be GREAT for the North. We could affect policy and the future rulers would be decended from the Starks.
As for who will rule Winterfell? Bran or Rickton. Ned's not that old.
Why the hell would Stannis be mad at us? We're supporting him without taking the betrothal in return. If we frame it in our usual Stark honor-bound speech, he should be very pleased that we're doing our duty to him without any transaction in the mix. This way, Stannis can be assured that Robb isn't supporting him because he wants his ass next to the throne. I don't see why Stannis would be upset at all. We're not outright denying it either, we're just postponing it until we kick Renly's teeth in.
Are you just going to pick the option with the most votes for the Shireen-marriage?
Well firstly, both of the votes I quoted were waffling votes that tried to reach a middle-ground. Secondly, in Westerosi politics, putting a ring on it is how you really secure an alliance, and we're putting off giving him a yes or no question.
Are you just going to pick the option with the most votes for the Shireen-marriage?
Not really... On paper, this isn't an alliance of equals, this is a relationship between Lord (King in this case) and vassal. Stannis needs our men to win and he (or Davos) thinks that the best way to get them is to offer us Shireen. Robb fighting for Stannis without the betrothal is basically Walder Frey going 'Oh, no need for a toll, my Lord. Toll Shmoll. We need to get to Riverrun.' I think you'd like him a lot better if he did that, now wouldn't you?
Besides, the offer sounds a lot like he's trying to bribe the Starks to do their duty with a favorable marriage. That could offend their honorable sensibilities. Taking the deal outright implies that it's a transaction and seems a bit mercenary by Stark standards. If he wishes to honor us at a later date with the offer after we've shown our loyalty, fine.
