Winter is Coming: House Stark Quest

Isn't Ned not a hostage anymore? The Trial was won, which means he should be free. So, we don't really need to negotiate for Ned's release?

Decent point. I could edit it to make it not outright say exchange...though not denying a possible exchange outright. Cersei may suggest an exchange for a counter offer (or not, just to get one of her children away from the possible wrath of Baratheons).
Edit that option. Our objective is to get our family out Kings Landing. Why are we going to give them a hostage? especially when Cersei and Joffrey are still in charge and the Bare the ons are going to attack KL.

@spudman

I wrote a small omake about negotiating for Myrcella as additional insurance against Lannister betrayal. You can include it in your plan, if you're so inclined.

Also, someone brought it up that Ser Barristan may be in danger from Cersei. Perhaps we should do something about that as well?

[X] You will all surrender yourselves unconditionally to the One True King of Westeros, Stannis of House Baratheon, First of His Name. In return, I will ask him to be merciful (huhuhuhu).

The leading votes are pretty close (CM 22, Spudman 18) so I'll give people an extra few hours to make their cases and to vote.

Plus I only got four hours of sleep and want to try for a few more before writing.

Honestly I was on the plan about spudman's plans, but your omake convinced me. Great Job, man!

Might want to mention safe passage out of the city along with our party for Ser Barristan as well, @spudman. He's not a hostage, but Cersei is a vindictive fucking bitch.

Also, might want to make this for some number of months to be determined in the negotiations, rather than an absolute. Charcolt would probably understand it that way anyways, but I like plans to have clarity.

Done.

The omake assumes how Cersei will react. I can't put it in a plan. The arguments made there give possible material for charcolt, so there is that.

Mentioned Ser Barristan's safe passage, regardless of what he's doing. May not even be necessary, but it's a nice thought.

Already changed it. It may not come to an exchange, but it leaves the possibility open.

An exchange could be good though...having Myrcella helps ensure the Lannisters behave and don't attack the Starks. It's going to be hard to justify holding onto Tywin, Tyrion, etc. indefinitely. We'll have to Wall them at some point if they're not ransomed.

But like I said, it may not even come to an exchange to get Myrcella. If it does we can decide then.

Need one more vote to tie...

@Enjou ?

Remember folks, my plan is basically CM's plan PLUS getting Robert's bastards to safety, guaranteeing safe passage for Barristan (if he already left it's the thought that counts), and getting Myrcella as a hostage (possibly for free or choosing if we want to exchange hostages).

-[X] Jaime will be exchanged for Ned, Sansa, Arya (once found) and any of his men still imprisoned by Lannisters. Robert's bastards and any family will have safe passage along with Ned's party. The other noble hostages stay with the army as 'insurance'. Tyrion and Kevan's sons' release can be negotiated if Cersei makes a counter-offer.
-[X] Safe passage out of King's Landing for Ser Barristan (assuming he hasn't left already), regardless of where he goes.
-[X] The North and Riverlands will also receive fair compensation directly from Casterly Rock's coffers for the damage caused and men lost.
-[X] You will also be given back Ice, that book 'proving' Cersei's incest and Littlefinger's head right the hell now.
-[X] The Northern host will not march on King's Landing (for a number of months to be determined).
-[X] Myrcella as a hostage. An exchange of hostages could be on the table.

[X] Plan CM 1.0

Anything that isn't plan spudman. I'd support that plan if it weren't for the last part of it, but accepting the possibility of surrendering a Stark as a hostage under the current circumstances is downright crazy. Seriously, did you guys somehow all miss that part?

Even if we trust the snakes of King's Landing not to bite us (not just Lannisters! Varys is also there, and chances are he would happily murder a Stark hostage to destabilize the realm), there is still the not at all unlikely possibility of said hostage falling into Renly's or Stannis's hands if/when they take King's Landing. And Myrcella will be worthless to them, so you'll have sacrificed a family member for nothing!

And it's OOC as fuck. How the hell can you believe Ned Stark would willingly let any member of his family remain in King's Landing after this?

They want Myrcella to ensure Lannisters keep their word...
But that's completely unnecessary because they can only raise about 20,000 more men and we have Robb and his army to smack them down, they can't touch us whatsoever, also Myrcella cannot be Waifu'd because she's a bastard born of incest and she also causes major problems because when Stannis or Renly demand her head it's going to put us in a bit of a bind with Nedd's honour and displeasing the new king in a way that is actively detrimental to us.

Seriously, would all the spudman voters explain their reasoning? Do you guys even realize what you're voting for?

GUYS; YOU'RE VOTING TO LEAVE SANSA BEHIND IN KING'S LANDING. At least that's how it will likely work out if the dice roll poorly enough.

EDIT/ Spudman has since edited his plan, and it has been confirmed by the GM that no Starks will remain behind, so I retract this objection.

Hey spud, why do we want Myrcella as a hostage when we have Tywin and why are we giving them more hostages ?
IMO we shouldn't give them any more hostages.
Well, spudman's plan mentions that the release of Tyrion and Kevan's sons is on the negotiation table. So while "hostage exchange" is a piss-poor way to phrase it, one could consider exchanging those hostages for Myrcella to be what that line refers to. Any plan that ends with a Stark or a servant of the Starks still in King's Landing after Ned and Sansa leave is garbage though, that's not in question.

(To be clear, I'm not voting for spudman's plan. Just explaining why the logic might not be as bad as people are thinking.)

Not sure how many times I have to say it to get the point across...but that part is written to quite possibly get Myrcella for free. The exchange simply could be on the table, and that would be part of considering a counter-offer.

There are zero circumstances in which Ned would leave Sansa behind. I'd veto any plan which I felt suggested it. None that are winning have.

Any hostage exchange rolls would relate to releasing the hostages House Stark has taken, not to surrendering one of their own.

That would be sane, and if spudman clarified that that's what he meant I wouldn't oppose his plan and might even support it.

Though McLuvin makes a good point that having Myrcella as a hostage might actually in itself be detrimental to us. Even if we get her for free.

Thank the old gods for that!

I've just read through the arguments.
The Main ones are.
- Possibly Free Hostage! Although it's listed as an exchange.
- Save Myrcella! Despite the fact it is more trouble than it's worth and will cause more long term issues.
- Screw Sansa! Some want to throw Sansa out of the way and exchange her for a better character.
- Keeping the Lannisters Word! Which makes little sense as we will still have Tywin and several other Lords such as Leo Lefford and Lord Brax for insurance and we can counter their moves via Robbs army and a garrison and Harrenhall

Whew. That makes much more sense.
