You know, I guess this really will not take traction... is I guess I will change to my other proposal. Some more additions to the vote as follows.

[X] Finish that creepy, giant, skeleton baby!
-[X] Use more Energy Slashes, but only if it tries anything else
[X] Once the barrier collapsed, high-five your friends for a job well done
[X] "Okay, how many Seeds do you have at the moment?"
-[X] Hand this Grief Seed to whoever has the least amount of Cleansing Powertm left

High fives because hugging people is getting old... and honestly, it starts to feel less special after five hundred pages. Let us do something else for a change.

-[x] Just in case, throw another energy slash at it for the finisher, let's not get close and risk an injury.
[X] Telepathy: "I want to do something... and it's probably not a good idea. Cover me?"
[X] Hug the creepy, giant, skeleton baby!

Please? Not the type but it would do.

It's time to finish it. The skeleton baby monster that's probably a witch looks like it would die to a gentle breeze. But as the saying goes about things being cornered, it's probably best to play it safe. Kishi would never forgive you for getting hurt because you were not careful, and she'd never stop bringing it up in situations like this.

Oh, and getting injured would probably suck too. Pain has an unfortunate tendency to hurt, after all.

You stick your sword into your shield, and draw up on what remains of your shield's energy charge. You'll finish this with another ranged attack, another slash at the creepy skeleton. The thing is already fumbling for another big thing to hurl at you, and you'd rather attack first.

[Tamiko attacks: 73 vs 73]
[Kishi attacks: 99 vs 19]

You draw your sword in a quick motion, sending a flash to the direction of the skeleton. At the same time, a hail of familiar rifle fire from Kishi's position strikes it. The thing lets out one final shriek, before it falls down in shattered pieces, dead.

You breathe out a sigh of relief and nod at your friends perched atop the giant toy. 'Good job, everyone!'

Mariko seems suspicious, however. 'No, this is not right. This-' You hear a crack behind you. 'Look out!!!'

It doesn't register to you fast enough, and confused as you are by the warning, you barely manage to register what's happening as you turn your gaze around.

[??? Attacks: 108 vs 40]
It also seems to slow down for you. You see shattered pieces of Mariko's barrier in the air, already vanishing into thin air, the attempt having done little good. Slamming into you is a shadow, darker than the night in the projectors' lights, its shape that of a claw.

And then you're grasped by its chilling touch, and forcibly pressed onto the floor. The hand drags you across the ground, shattering both it and your body. You can't even scream until it pulls to a stop at one of the walls you're slammed against. The only thing that comes out is a pained gasp for air.

You're fairly sure something is broken, considering the all-encompassing pain you're in. It's the deliriousness that keeps it from overcoming you as you settle in and let it fade. But it's also because of your state that you're forced to look down onto the disintegrating floor.

Pieces of what remains of the clearing's floor are floating in the air, some rising, some falling, some floating. Around you, the ground is coming apart and the stacks of toys falling and floating together with it.

Below of it all are new walls and floors, built into platforms that all have their own gravity. Floors are sideways and upside down, in all directions. Gone are the toys, however, replaced by shelves, books tables, chairs that cover the walls and floors, some floating in the air without directions… all grey and shadowed between the projector screens.

Living and swirling in the scenery is an indistinct mass of shadows, as dark as the appendage grappling you. The dark hides the shape's distinctiveness, but you can understand how it coils unto itself, eating itself in ways that hurt your eyes the more you look at it. And in that darkness you can see a thousand lit green eyes, which are replaced by another thousand as soon as you blink.

All of them are pointed at you.

Tamiko shield charge: 20/100

What do you do?

[] Write-in.

...I had a lot of fun with this witch.

Who said the witch was dying and defenseless?

Here's something for us to start with:

[] Defensive positions!
[] Have Kishi spray rifle fire on the eyes while Mariko prepares barriers.
[] You focus on observing the surroundings and readying your sword (and shield, and magic) just in case.

Why is it that we can duel a high-end Witch without trouble, but the weak ones always get us?

Huh... okay, Tamiko probably has at least a few broken bones from that hit... and it might have happened that we are currently alone again.
And I just noticed that we are still grappled.

Tentative first draft:
[] Prepare Jump Boost, then use your remaining charge on a Force Bubble to free yourself
-[] If it works, try to gain distance from the eyes
--[] Are your friends still with you?
--[] How badly are you damaged from that hit?
[] Dodge incoming attacks and try to charge back up to 60 if you have a moment
-[] Try using the floating objects in case you have to dodge, either by jumping off of them or bringing them between you and... whatever those appendages are

Why do you think this is a weak witch :V?

Because the weak ones make up for their lack of brute force by employing tricks and gimmicks?

Something like that, yes.
Actually... is this not the exact same thing Uncle does when in conflict with actual Magical Girls... or Witches? Being "a cheating cheater who cheats"?

I really need to get at this with more paranoia...

Because the thing that just hit everyone is a totally different Witch.
Because somehow there's two existing next to each other, capable of going through other's barrier, and haven't consumed each other like witch behavior would dictate.
Now it makes sense there were none before; the Witch only has one, maybe a handful scattered around instead of a few dozen/hundred.
But the barrier was breaking down. That only happens when you kill the witch.

Or possibly the barrier itself wasn't actually breaking down but it only looked like it was because the house around the cradle entity was coming apart?

That's what it seems like to me here...

If a veteran girl like Tamiko or Kishi can't tell the difference between a barrier collapsing and a part of the witch's labyrinth collapsing, I've got questions.

Um... Tamiko has been a MG for two weeks; that is in no way a veteran. Veterans, by my understanding, have survived for at least three months.
As for Kishi... huh... nothing to argue there; of all the people, Mariko noticed that something was wrong. Weird.
