Why doesn't anyone want to play a support healing person for once? :(
It's your job to make the case for why you think a healing support character would be interesting. Asking why no-one wants to play one will only give you the answer 'It's boring' or 'I can't think of a reason why that would be fun'. Mind you, I think that might result in an interesting dynamic when interacting with other people or travellers, but why do you think it will be interesting?

because Support is boring? at least from my experience.
being the Healer is the thankless job that gets all the blame when something goes wrong, and none of the glory when things go right.
plus we can't attack with it, no aging grasp by forcing cellular division, no induce aneurysm by increasing the amount of blood until there's a larger amount than their blood vessels can hold, no inflict pain or paralyzing touch by playing with the targets nerves.

Could we please go with a male character this time? Literally every other quest Alivaril has done people have gone Female and it's lead to an utterly intolerable amount of focus on Moe stuff from the playerbase.

Healer and Shaper sound rather boring for a quest especially if its a more action orientated one. I voted Conjurer first because im confident that Alivaril will make those things utterly adorable amd/or interesting.

@Alivaril, what exactly does "holding an element" mean? I don't think it's "getting severe burns while summoning a fire elemental". If someone swings a sword or throws a stone at us, can we turn it into an elemental and send it back at them?

[5] Healer

[2] Shaper
@Alivaril, is there inertia to moving things? Can we launch projectiles with our ability? Can we levitate on a platform? Can we levitate without a platform by moving our body?

[1] Scout
I'm sad people dislike this. It's like having a radar for magic.
@Alivaril, how far can we detect magic?

Even if something can be done with magic, you still need a mage to actually follow through.
Something to automate, I see.

Reasoning: I want to hammer the horror button as hard as possible. Imperfect just screams body horror and Haunted is necromancy. Barring horror, Healer means our friends don't die and Conjured sounds like a solid generalist. The other two don't interest me.

As for gender, I don't really care in and of itself. However, since I'd like to keep my WAFFy romance options open and other people tend to be happier reading about cute gay women than cute gay men going for female keeps the pool of romance options bigger.

Either having your hands be in direct physical contact with the element itself, or holding an object containing or making such. For instance, you could use the fire from a torch, water from a lake, the metal from a sword, etc.

1: As long as you maintain physical contact with them, yes. They'll be slowed the standard amount if they come into contact with something else.

2: Covered in description; not directly.

3: You think so, but it's more expensive than something resting on the ground and you don't know why.

4: No. Your body is not dirt, stone, or metal.

@Alivaril, how far can we detect magic?

About ten meters now; you believe it'll slowly get larger over time.

:eyebrow:
As a rule, the improvements from mana provided to non-humanoid creatures are always physically helpful. If they don't manage to get enough of a type of mana for them to finish a given improvement, the partially-formed (or altered) parts will revert back to their old state after enough time has gone by without sufficient exposure. Creatures taken out of their natural habitats may even have partially-completed improvements overridden early if the mana "wants" to work on a conflicting change.

From everything you've seen and felt, your own Talent seems to follow those same rules, complete with partials fading if you leave before it's done. For example, you don't think your odd feathers are a completed adaptation. As such, they'll probably go away unless you travel someplace capable of finishing them—fertile land next to a forest, maybe? You're not sure.

I apologize if the mention of (paraphrased) "careful exposure to avoid strange physical changes" made it seem like you'd forever have incomplete odds and ends from your travels and/or would need to avoid mana at all times. You wouldn't.
Necromancy in the terms of communing with spirits, gaining the wisdom or strength of the ancestors, basically everything but raising skeletons is highly highly respected in many cultures. Ancestor worship predates most organized religions. The idea of a shaman or some kind of spirit priest as a leading figure or wise figure persists in fiction in everything except the western d&d style fantasy, and even there it still exists. Necromancy, more as Siofra presented it in Ignition, may not have negative associations at all. It would very much depend on what type and the individual cultures or even persons.

TL;DR: Neither option would inherently lead to any direct body or normal horror. A risen skeleton may be scary to some others, but for you, it could be Tuesday. See also: Splintered.

Locking the vote.

EDIT: Conjurer & Female wins, both with a comfortable lead.

EDIT 2: Double-checking real quick. EDIT 3: Or not so quick. Yeah, this is close, which means I have to use the pain-in-the-A method. EDIT 4: Can say with certainty that Imperfect lost, still working on calculations between Conjurer and Haunted.

I feel the vote for Conjurer was quite close. Imperfect had more 1st place votes, but the preferences broke against it more often than not.

People were afraid of the potential infamy for necromancy with haunted and the ugliness of imperfection (can't remember reading a quest that doesn't idealize a girl protagonist's appearance). Disappointing but it's the point of preference voting to make the option which has the least amount of people disliking it win and not the one that the most people really prefer.
