Home Again, Home Again
[X] You're in over your head. You can't help Ilya without Remilia's help.
- [X] Explain to Sella what you're going to do and ask her to go along with your plan.

You stare at the Soul Gem for a moment before sighing. Your hand closes and the Soul Gem vanishes. This is all too much for you, too far beyond your realm of expertise … and Deis is right. You had a lot of fun, got to meet all kinds of people, kill a lot of them, and see exciting new things - and now you're risking Ilya's life instead of going home to get help from a real magician? No. You shake your head. "No. … Sella, do you trust me? When I say that I want to help Ilya, do you believe me?" The pale servant stares at you for a long moment before bowing.

"I believe you, Lady Flandre." You take out the black rod, the thumb-length piece of ivory that will take you back to the library.

"I want to take Ilya to Gensokyo. Maybe we can do something for her here; I'm sure that if we could reach your home, they could do something for her, but I don't know how easy it would be to reach them. Maybe Tohsaka's plan will work. But … they worry me. They're chances, and there are too many things that have to go in our favor to make them worth it in my mind. But my sister and Patchouli are in Gensokyo, and they're really good magicians. They can help Ilya." You clench your fists, and your mouth works as you try to give voice to your feelings and the trust you have for your sister, but eventually you simply shake your head and look right at Sella. "I think that taking her to Gensokyo is the best way to save Ilya, but … I know I've made mistakes, and I know I don't know everything about Ilya's situation. So - I want you to decide, Sella. I think this is the best choice, but … but …." Words fail you again and you look down at the ground. You can be charismatic - it's not just your sister's talent - but you were always better at instilling fear, and an impromptu performance like this is hard for you, especially considering your feelings on the subject. You close your eyes and take several breaths, and when you look up Sella is still watching you, expression uncharacteristically closed and unreadable. She walks to the table and stares at your diagram of Remilia's spell. Finally, she nods.

"I understand, Lady Flandre. As for the decision …." She turns to look at Ilya, still lying in the circle, and at Leysritt sitting the chair by the circle, then turns back to you. "In Lady Illyasviel's name, we accept your invitation to visit your home." She bows deeply and tension floods out of you. Tohsaka edges away from you, stance shifting subtly. "When do you wish to leave?"

"The sooner the better, I think. Is there anything you, Leysritt, or Ilya are going to want?" Sella looks around the room, gazes up at the ceiling, starts to shake her head.

"Portrait." Leysritt interrupts the gesture and Sella flushes, but you nod quickly.

"My portrait of Ilya, you'll be bringing your halberd - then I'll go get Deis and Satsuki, and we can leave." Sella takes a deep breath and nods.
"Wait. Just like that, you're just going to walk out of here?" You stare menacingly at Tohsaka and she shows the jewels in her hand, prepares to use them.

"Because Ilya is important. You, ultimately, are not. You are a nuisance, and I haven't forgotten the penalty you owe me, Tohsaka, but important matters come before trivial ones. Besides, with the resources you have right now, servitude is all you can offer me that is of value, and I don't feel like suffering through your continued presence for the amount of time it would take for you to serve a proper penance." She stares at you, a little confused but clearly angry, and you huff disdainfully. "Stay, Tohsaka, and negotiate with the Japanese. Or flee to the Association you've mentioned. Keep your Servant. I will seek you out for compensation in due time; hopefully by then you will at least have become a competent mage." You walk past her and into the hall, then dash to Deis as your clones head for Leysritt's room for the portrait. The images of the city are still there; some the same, others different. Deis appears and cocks her head. "We're leaving. For Gensokyo. As soon as everyone gets together." The images wink out and she blinks over to you as Ershin rises. A gust of wind whirls around your head, ruffling your hair.

"I hope you didn't feel pressured by me," she says. You snort.

"You made a good point. Besides, coming back voluntarily because I need help, or being dragged back because I'm in too deep to even ask - I'd certainly prefer the former." She smiles and begins fading away. "Down in the workshop; I'll be there as soon as I talk to Satsuki." You dart away ahead of Ershin. Where would Satsuki be? Her room? Your room? Somewhere else? Well, if you haven't found her by the time your clones finish delivering the portrait, you can have them scour the building for her …. You see her staring out a window near her room and clear your throat. She jumps and spins around.

"Oh! Flandre-sama! Um …." You look at her as she trails off.

"Satsuki, we're going to Gensokyo." She stares at you. Realization creeps across her face and she looks back out the window.

"I … I'll be able to come back, won't I? When … when I'm more confident and I can do things by myself?" You nod and she takes a deep breath before smiling away her nervousness. "Alright! When do we leave?"

"Now." Her expression freezes and you grin before hopping forward to pick her up. She automatically puts her arms around your neck to keep herself steady as you fly through the hallways down to the workshop. You spin around to stick your tongue out at Ershin as you pass it, and it rises above the air and zips along after you, no longer walking. You set Satsuki down before you reach the workshop, letting her compose herself, and Deis flicks your forehead with a burst of wind. You glower where she might be before getting yourself ready, then the three of you walk into the workshop together. Tohsaka is in the corner, watching unhappily, almost irritatedly. Sella and Leysritt are by the circle, with the portrait, and your clones file back into you as you approach the circle. You take the black ivory rod from the table, and when everyone is ready - Satsuki carrying the portrait, Sella carrying a gasping and short-breathed Ilya - you spare one final glance at Tohsaka and snap the rod.

Unlike the white rod or the library itself, the black rod doesn't create a portal for you to walk through. Instead, there's simply an instant of disorientation before you're all standing in the library in the portal area. The portals are all gone right now, but you see Patchouli sitting at a desk and start to ask her for help. Koakuma steps in front of you and puts a finger to her lips. You scowl and look worriedly at Ilya - but she's quiet again, breathing easily in Sella's arms. Koakuma smiles; you glare at her and look at Patchouli again. The magician is watching something, and your eyes widen when you recognize it as Ilya's workshop. Tohsaka is still there, staring in shock, but so is someone you've never seen before, a tall, grey-haired old man. He seems to be staring at the point Patchouli's scrying is coming from - and then he makes a pass of some kind and the image freezes and turns grey. Patchouli sighs and shakes her head.

"So that was Kaleidoscope." You frown, unsure of how important the stranger and the 'kaleidoscope' are, and she floats out of the chair and toward you, wearing the same nightgown she always does, and looks intently at Ilya. "I don't mind, but …." Before you can finally say something, a familiar presence makes you turn around. Your sister stands at one of the entrances to the area, Sakuya at her side. She smiles lightly as she looks over your friends.

"Be welcome, Einzberns. And you, Sorceress. Be at ease, and rest without worry." She inclines her head as she welcomes them, and Sella and Leysritt bow politely, and Deis appears and nods as well. Satsuki looks around, confused; presumably, since she's you're servant, she doesn't need to be welcomed. Remilia looks at you. "Patchouli will help Illyasviel. Come with me, Flandre; I want to talk with you." Sakuya starts walking toward you, evidently to assist Patchouli somehow, and Remilia turns away. After a few steps she stops, however, and turns her head to look at you through the corner of her eye. On the one hand, you do miss her and you'd like to talk with her … but you also want to make sure Ilya is fine, and that Deis and Satsuki don't feel neglected.

What do you do?

[ ] Go with Remilia.

[ ] Stay with Ilya.

[X] Go with Remilia.

Haven't gotten a chance to see Remilia in a while and Patchouli/Koakuma/Sakuya should be perfectly capable of making them feel welcome.

[X] Stay with Ilya.

Pretty sure this is the correct response, showing Remilia that Flandre has matured enough to care about a friends wellbeing over simply talking to her sister is a big step.

[X] Stay with Ilya.

A responsibility. Considering what she'd feel if she woke up, surrounded by unfamiliar people, with the only response being Berserker eating up all her magic

Let's see ....

Well, I'm kinda curious what Lancer thought about Flan,
Lancer was pretty ambivalent about Flandre; he's certainly a Hero and she's a monster, but (as was, I believe, brought up after their first fight), she took him pretty seriously and gave him a good run for his money. He wouldn't have 'gotten along' with her, per se - or with Caster - but if Deis had managed to take him as a Servant, he wouldn't have been too bothered by her unless she got out of hand (he wouldn't have approved of her rampage in the other city, for example, but probably wouldn't have made too big a deal out of it). When he tried protecting Flan from the Gate of Babylon, it was more as a final 'Screw You Guys' to Kirei and Gilgamesh for using him the way they did against Flan than any personal interest in saving her life.

and I'm definitely curious about what Caster was really up to behind the scenes, what she thought about Flan,
I agree with @HymnOfRagnarok, I'd be interested in knowing what might have happened with Caster if things had worked out differently
Right, this. So, you remember this? That wasn't anything Flandre did - or Caster. That was Patchouli, (very) subtly telling Caster to stop trying to put hooks into Flan:
... Someone broke in and eliminated a single, specific defensive spell I had set up, but left others of the same kind alone."
...
Whoever had destroyed the spell intended for Flandre Scarlet had to have left some kind of mark.
Essentially, had things gone a certain way, Caster would have tried to subvert Flan - perhaps making her think they were related, instead of outright puppetting her - but she tipped her hand when healing Flan and then Headless decided she was going to take matters into her own hands. Headless's concern over just how skilled Caster was played a part in her making the snap decision to move when and where she did instead of trying to explain things to Flan. Of course, if Caster had succeeded, that just means that Remilia and Patchouli would have become involved~.

Which isn't to say that a friendly relationship with Caster couldn't have happened. But Deis's point was pretty accurate - Caster's a bit of a control freak and doesn't really like playing second fiddle, so with Flan staying there (and her growing friendship with Ilya), it would have been difficult to accomplish. The keys would have been Caster's personality - she's incredibly devoted to Souichirou and genuinely loves him, but has trouble believing that (because of her 'crimes') she's 'allowed' to be happy. And while she has 'embraced' being a 'witch' because of how people view her, she doesn't like it

Assuming that things went well, she would not have agreed to go traveling with Flandre to other worlds, but had she been able to go to Gensokyo, she would have been perfectly happy just living together somewhere with Souichirou. Maybe he would have been a teacher at the school Keine works at. Caster probably only would have had problems if someone egged her on or was accidentally dragged into something (>.> Marisa).

For instance, it would be interesting to see how she would have reacted to Flandre's stories of Gensokyo and the other worlds, and how her reactions are similar and different from those Ilya had.
Similar reaction to Ilya in that she wouldn't have wanted to go traveling the multiverse, but her reasoning would have been different. Ilya had pretty much internalized the belief that Berserker was nigh-invincible, but meeting Flan and coming to the realization that she had a weapon that could bypass the defensive properties of God Hand made her realize that other worlds might possess similar capabilities - and one of her biggest fears is loss. She lost her parents, the only good things in her world, and was treated almost more like a tool by the Einzberns until she got Berserker, and so much of her kinder emotions were bound to him that losing him is something she desperately does not want. Flandre is weaning her off the 'Berserker is the only good thing I have' mindset ... but given Flan's attitude towards personal safety that doesn't make Ilya feel much better.

Caster doesn't have those particular hang-ups, but she does have her attachment to Souichirou - AKA, the man who doesn't care. Getting her to travel to other worlds would have required making her want to - a nearly impossible task because of the risks to Souichirou and the lack of a real 'purpose' behind the trip - or making Souichirou want to. Getting them to Gensokyo would have been pretty easy in comparison, because it's a pretty accepting place as long as you don't go around making a nuisance of yourself.

[X] Go with Remilia.

Okay, I have to ask, what the hell is wrong with Rin? I mean she act like a total bitch at the end there, even when we decided to leave and fix the Grail problem for her she still try to act hostile toward us.

I'm really regret I didn't vote to kill her when I have a chance, her attitude is really pissing me off.

Ah... All in all, I think we made the best choice by going the Ilya route.

Well, first would be that she's actually in rather a lot of physical pain from her magic circuits being used to transport the energy from the spell, so she's not exactly in the best shape. Also, while the Grail problem was 'fixed,' she still has all the other side effects of Flan's visit: the Japanese are getting their act together and potentially going to kick the Association out of Fuyuki; the Association isn't happy with everything being on fire and exploding and triple-digit body counts; the Church isn't happy about losing a Burial Agent and her very custom gear nor a former Executor; and a few people are liable to be upset about the Grail being destroyed. And for all she knows, the Einzberns are going to come down on her like a ton of homunculus bricks. She has very few actual resources and Archer is a pretty severe drain on her energy, and she doesn't have a successful Jewel Sword that would show that she's done something successful. Sakura and Shirou would be basically no help in an inquisition, and she can't really tell people to go talk to Arcueid, either.

From her perspective, everything is fucked sideways, and the one responsible - Flan - is just going to skip town with Ilya - who at least has the family connections to possibly defuse some of the issues - and leave her to deal with everything on her own.

Problem is, Rin could avoid lot of this by being friendly with Flandre at the beginning. Should she give her the informations, Flandre will happily befriend her and even take her to Gensokyo if she would wish it ...

Also with Zelretch already on the scene when Flandre left, Rin is in for interesting times I think.

The problem is that people don't work by wanting to befriend everyone. After all would you go though the process of befriending someone who you might have to kill tomorrow?

That's the thinking that got Rin into troubles. Like I said Flandre explicitly offered a ceasefire and possible alliance. Rin refused so she can't really blame anyone but herself - she pushed Flandre to sought out Caster, Medea, of all people. Rin deserves any misfortune she ends in. Flandre doesn't care now, she has her friend with her, is helping her and that's what matters to her. Should she ran into Rin in the future, she will demand only one thing - a good fight from her, before she probably kill her. Rin made herself Flandre's enemy - which is no smart move in ANY case.

... Look at her teacher for the past 10 years of her life, now look at the vampire that your talking about, now stop being an ass because I highly doubt in the same situation you wouldn't have made the same choice which was to refuse to give housing to a murderous Vampire that depopulates cities for funnies.

Well, kind of. Except sort of the other way around:
"I believe that's a fair amount of information to give you. If you want more, you'll have to pay for it, one way or another. Now, I'm going to leave, and unless you have some kind of offer to make, I don't want you to keep following me. For the rest of tonight, Archer won't attack you, and after that, I won't deliberately try to attack you unless you make my life more difficult. Good-bye."
Rin left open the possibility of further cooperation, and when Flan tried to follow up - with ... a reasonable but not outstanding offer - Rin countered with what Flan considered a deal-breaker. Flandre broke off negotiations at that point.

Did Rin knew it at first? She also is a part of society that is far from innocent - and she should know better. She should at least be diplomatic. Her motives could be fear but also greed - she tried to enslave Flandre with geas and was furious when a creature more powerful than Rin refused to even entertain it? Look how Homura, who knew what Flandre is and what she actually DID handled the situation. Rin didn't know Flandre, didn't know what she did will do and can do - and botched the negotiation spectacularly.

So it was partially Flandre's fault - she is proud, probably too proud. Rina also doubted Flandre's ability to fight at least once or twice. She knew by then Flandre is stubborn, proud and is easy to anger. Still, Rin managed to anger Flandre so much, she left to kill Gilgamesh of all people alone!
