Naruto not having anyone believing in him/respect is somewhat accurate, probably more accurate than the fact that people hate him for having Kurama sealed in him. He was a little shit that never took anything serious and boldly declared that he would someday become their leader when he's half assing everything until his Jounin straitens him out.
It's a recursive loop. People don't bully him or anything, they ignore him. As with many attention starved children, he plays pranks because he craves attention, and the punishment at least means people give a damn about him.
Jaraiya's version of training is to steal from his apprentice, unseal the seal Orochi put on his stomach, and then throw him off a cliff in order to get him to use the ninetail's chakra to summon a giant toad rather than you know, teaching Naruto the basics beyond water walking. But to be fair, Naruto sucks ass at picking up the basics due to the years he half assed things but learned a forbidden complex technique in a few hours.

God damn inconsistent idiot savant.
On the other hand consider that Naruto is extremely good at all the things associated with Kitsune, learning them at a savant's pace, though having Yang Kurama sealed inside makes him extremely poor at anything primarily mental.
But as far as anything I can tell, Naruto IS a genius, he's just not motivated at all to work hard over getting some attention right now, and has zero patience. Sasuke meanwhile works his ass off to just stay up in front, it's why he tends to give in to the temptation of power, and freely accepts training from anyone.

Neji is both a genius and works hard. But his pride gets in the way so he misses out on all the community and trainer buffs.

Could that knucklehead possibly be getting training from Jiraiya of the Sannin?! Hero of the Second Great Shinobi War, Famed Sage of Mount Myōboku, and most importantly Lady Tsunade's teammate!

I do kind of love the idea of approaching the legendary member of the Sannin, Toad Sage, etc. solely to ask him for someone else's autograph. Kind of a hilarious kick in the teeth to his ego.

You blush slightly at the thought of all the bars and gambling houses you got thrown out of, literally in some cases.

You're pretty sure your picture is still on the wall in a couple of them.

Hey, no such thing as bad publicity.

"Quite obvious who it was as well, made it very to find you."

Very easy to find you, I assume you meant here?

"I-" She pauses, just for a split second, but enough for you to notice and when she continues her voice is ever so slightly thicker, "-wanted to ask a favor for a friend, she...wants to talk with you about something you saw."

<Doesn't want to reveal her identity to you.>

Your eyes widen slightly at that, why...no, she's ANBU, of course she doesn't want to reveal her identity. Though why would that be her overriding intent? Unless, she's not asking for a friend.

See, on the one hand, ANBU identities are top secret and figuring them out should be a major cause for concern.

On the other hand she did just do the 'I have this friend...' thing, and really she should be embarrassed about being so obvious, wouldn't even need SRoI to figure that one out.

Man, SRoI has paid for itself several times now, and just this week.

This was precisely what I was hoping for.
The services of a chuunin/special jounin class sword user is worth way more to Tenten right now than better immediate relations with Jiraiya.

Jiraiya would have been worth way more if we could have convinced him to go grab Tsunade and get her to come back to the village and help both Lee and with the invasion. Problem is that success there is far from guaranteed, and moreover there's only like, a week and a half or so before the finals. Don't think that's enough time for him to locate her and get back in time. If we'd met him week 1 of the month gap between prelims and finals, sure, maybe, but I think it would be a measure too late now.

Thanks, fixed.
Dudes, conflict within is obviously Sakura. Inner Sakura, duh!
Not actually in conflict with herself.
She and Inner Sakura tend to be in tune; just that she exercises more verbal (and physical) restraint.
Actually it is Sakura, but not quite because of Inner Sakura.
Naruto sullied his relationship with people for years by playing practical jokes in order to gain attention and loudly declaring that he shall grow up to lead the people even though he terrorize them by being a little hellion. Now that he has an old master to teach him the way to cultivate his soul, he will eventually realize pranking people is not how you gain respect, but through action... no matter how many times the old master had to hit him on the head with the enlightenment stick.

Next time on Naruto, the old master teaches Naruto how to commune with his inner demon by wisely throwing him off a cliff. This causes Naruto to make a foolish mistake with a nine tail fox. Since instead of calling it his prisoner, he calls it his tenant and demands rent in the form of it's chakra. We shall get to why that is a bad idea later but with that chakra he summons a great toad spirit and later, through actions and not falling off it's back, earns his respect.

Later Naruto returns home semi drunk as he had to drink sake with the great boss toad in order to complete an ancient ceremony of mutual respect, Naruto finds someone humming in his apartment and actually cooking what smells like a decent meal. He looks towards the kitchen and sees a woman with nine red fluffy tails. Stirring soup and shaking her butt to music only she can hear. Thus as per the deal, the nine tail fox is renting a room from him in his apartment complex, which is much cozier than a dirty sewer.

Nextime on the Xianxia tale called Naruto; The orphan, the hot nine tail fox chick, and the old master's headache.
Oh god, female Kurama. While it certainly doesn't top the list of bad Naruto fandom cliches. It's on there.

I only knew of a few good stories ones that did female Kurama well. Most of them were shit and just made her female so she can worship naruto's...I probably would get in trouble for finishing that sentence.

-edit-

But there were some that took influence from the Kitsune myths, making her vindictive, deadly as well as cunning.

[X] A Traitor's Lot

How could I pass up the chance to see what's going on with the future Nidaime Hokage?!

...actually, neat though I thought Kin's design was, I'm more curious about... what does the title refer to? Kin's not a traitor, she's a Sound Ninja. Orochimaru's a traitor cubed, but "traitor's lot" suggests it's not referring to his situation, since he's doing fine right about now. Kin's the only uninjured, living member of the Sound Genin - did she try to betray Orochimaru in order to avoid being disposed of? I'm quite curious.

She defected to Konoha and presumably told all she knows about Sound to the people here.
That counts as treason against Sound and Orochimaru in most definitions.

It turns out emotionally unstable teenagers make bad decisions. Who could have possibly foreseen this?

However bad the decision, it may still turn out to be the best she had (although maybe "ditch the headband and run for it" would have been another contender). She certainly didnt have any good options, since staying with orochimaru would probably lead to her being sacrificed or used as fodder for some crazy experiment (orochimarus approach to failures and people who outlive their usefullness), even avoiding that places her in the middle of the whole konoha crush clusterfuck...

What other options does she have?

Well, hey, it's absolutely canon that Minato only sealed the male half of the Kyuubi's chakra inside Naruto. No wonder he's a big angry snarling ball of testosterone.

If he'd sealed the Yin Chakra, she'd totes have been a motherly redheaded fox lady.

What an awful goddamn father.
