The College of Jewels (Magical Academy Quest)

She took on some extremely dangerous people... if she could not handle some of their less capable members, how could she face the Chairman, or even the Archmage? I think she should be able to do some damage here.

Of course, I also think that it will be Astrea who bites the dust. The Demon is unabashedly evil and does not seem to care much about anything, and the elf is considered a do-gooder by some. I find it hard to believe there is any sort camaraderie between the Council members, but we are aware of the tensions between some of them. A lot of accidents happen in the heat of combat, so if her death gives Wrath a bit more leeway, I'd expect her to suffer one.

And it would fit the theme for Divine Intervention to make things even more grim for everyone in an attempt to overthrow the dystopia.

@Wander For clarification's sake, does Elemental Pledge's element lockout apply to Elemental Planar Portals or only to pure Elemental spells?
Only pure elemental spells.
[X] [THE WORLD ANEW] Fled in the face of unexpected force.

[X] [PROJECT] A canteen of water which washes away enchantments, which refills itself from the Elemental Plane of Water. It allows for pressure adjustment.

What's with all the people wanting rebellion waifu to charge straight in? Also @Wander - how many people have to vote for xp spending for it to pass? I kind of want to save up our Dimensional exp for the big shinies.
It really depends on how many people decide to express dissent.

That does seem likely, and it's a big reason why I've been wavering. However, I just can't bring myself to support fleeing at the first sign of trouble. Up to this point the World Anew has never been in a shred of real danger. Her first response should be to fight and not to flee. What use a champion who doesn't champion?

It really depends on how many people decide to express dissent.
So noted. Vote edited.

World Anew can become an example of what happens when you try to destabilise Diadem. It used to be such a lovely place before the Pact was sent on a holiday.

[X] [MAGIC] Save XP

Note: I only want to save the Dimensional XP, if someone wants to spend the non-dim exp I'll go for spending that. Also Planar Creation 2 is acceptable since it only costs 3.

Let me make a case for an alternate spending plan...

[X] [MAGIC] Rechargeable Enchantments (5)
[X] [MAGIC] Minor Disruption (1)
[X] [MAGIC] Disruption (5)
[X] [MAGIC] Dissipation Field (10)
[X] [MAGIC] Planar Creation 2 (3)
[X] [MAGIC] Planar Teleport 2 (15)
[X] [MAGIC] Planar Control 2 (15)
[X] [MAGIC] Careful Casting (10 from Spiritual)
[X] [MAGIC] Maximization 1 (15 from Enchanting)

Because fundamentally working on an enchantment project when you can't recharge the group's work is a bit silly.
Beyond that, using freed up XP and the kinda useless Spiritual XP to pick up a trait combo which will let Saphira do big booms if she needs to while not killing herself or her allies in the meantime. Expand size on Elemental Planar Portals, etc.

and my old vote appended

[X] [THE WORLD ANEW] Fled in the face of unexpected force.

[X] [PROJECT] A 'perpetual motion machine'. Similar in some ways to the canteen of endless water in that it uses a lower pressure area of the elemental plane, but more complicated in that one portal opens, water falls through it to spin a wheel, and then the water exits through a portal to nowhere. Not actually useful for anything, but the kind of weird niche idea you think would appeal to Dishevel when he judges the projects.
-[X] For fun, attach the wheel to a fan to create a constant breeze.

What do you want to buy with Dim XP?
That Which Dwells => The Twisted Path > The Firmament.
Probably just one since I don't think people would want to save up for more than that, depending on the rate of exp gain. It sort of depends how much Wander intends for anything to have any story implication. Because TWD is freaky, but TWP has us teleporting basically anywhere we can picture/do things by units of measurements, so we could travel the world more. And The Firmament doesn't seem 'that' useful, so I am hoping there's maybe something it's worth taking for that someone can mention to me since I've brought it up? :p

With The Twisted Path and Method we can go anywhere not carefully warded by the archmage. We might be able to rob the Dragon of Wealth.

Lul. Yeah, you go ahead and try that. See how it works out for you.

[X] A canteen of endless water. Not exactly inspired, but with help from Lusca to aim your elemental planar portal at a very low pressure area of the elemental plane of water and materials provided by Ruby, this would be relatively easy to make.

I recognize I made my post late but I would implore everyone voting on a magic spending plan to take another look at things. Mutable Enchantment doesn't really give Saphira much compared to getting the basic life utility of recharging enchantments along with the other general wide applicability general traits I would like us to purchase.

Reasoning is i don't view the World Anew as someone who backs down easily and the washing away enchantments fits in all three of our specializations and is pretty neat.

Edit: With mutability we could totally enchant a few rings or something to open up a portal to various places.

Saphira doesn't have much in the way of enchantments at the moment - mutable offers more immediate flexibility in terms of actually creating enchantments, and charging/making them more resilient can wait until that base has been built up. Maximization is interesting but I don't know precisely what that offers Saphira at the moment? Her current spell selection doesn't lend itself well to enhancement. Careful Casting is a good pick if we do end up going down that road, but it'd probably be better to pick that up with more ranks of Elemental Portal, for instance.

Several of the other generalist spells are nice as well (see Superior Speed Casting, for instance) but it's probably better to broaden Saphira's base a bit at this point.

Saphira can't recharge the enchantments her project group would cast without Rechargeable, whatever they may end up being. This is kind of an oversight, no? Much less any other enchanted items she may acquire at any point in the future. It's basically a life skill in terms of applicability.

Maximization can be comboed size wise with any of her portals or length, together with Careful Casting to then make sure the unstable portal doesn't hurt her. The obvious immediate application is that it can also be a backdoor into EPP2-like effects while still maintaining relevance once that gets picked up. This also has the effect of saving DSci XP for something more interesting, since we get to spend XP out of categories we don't care about as much.

I'm glad to see Wrath didn't get taken out so easily.

Saphira's group's enchanting project will be over the course of weeks. Yes, it's essential she'll have to pick it up at some point (i.e. next buy), but at the start she's just going to be designing, enchanting, and scrapping for the time being. I'd argue that Mutable Enchantment should provide more insight into how to tweak what she knows to make it all work.

This is an interesting idea for a build, so please bring it up again if your vote doesn't get through. Actually, @Wander, how does the interaction between Maximization and Stabilization work, particularly in regards to an already unstable spell? (Say, Elemental Portal).

As you might expect, they cancel out. Though they will make the spell take longer to cast.

Alas, I could not justify the purchase of Haste given the thread voter's already apparently proclivities, but that would be something I would want to angle us towards next. And Superior Speed...
