STAR WARS: The Galactic Civil War

Voting is open
I wish I got into the thread earlier, it feels like there's no competing with either a transformers expy or Tarkin because I wasn't fast enough to get my idea out and most of the voters have checked out already

Feels kinda demoralizing, y'know?
Honestly, I was the one who made the Transformers Expy, and my vote may or may not win, and even I don't like it.
I don't want it to win anymore now, I want either the C3PO or the Vulture Droid to win, both are more interesting characters.

Magoose has said that the voting will be open for a whole week so it still is early enough to try.
You know what?
You're right, hopefully by then we haven't all killed each other and what's the top votes are changes to something else.

Current Tally!

I just feel like the top picks rn don't have enough potential for crack like the last quest, going straight from "Big Bombad Chancellor too silly to die" to Pax or Tarkin feels like we'd be diverging from the last quest's spirit

I feel like I have to constantly talk about my vote because I'm working against SV's voter bias of "Highest vote gets my vote" and it's draining having to bang on about it in the desperate hope that I can close the disadvantage of being in a different timezone from everyone else and thusly being late to the vote

To be fair, this may be for the best in this case.

The last Quest's spirit worked because we had Jar Jar and his Antics lead the failing Republic to new success in a 'crazy enough to work' approach.

Now, however, we are about to plunge into a Galactic Civil War. You remember how dark TCW could get, right? I don't think the same light-hearted spirit of sillyness would work for a Quest like that.
That's not to say we'll have no sillyness at all, but still. Perhaps a shift in tone, to a degree, is needed, here.

That's just how it is. I agree that it sucks that you can't get your way simply because momentum works against you, but I really don't see any alternatives other than putting a mortarium on the vote to mitigate things.

[X] The Prime Choice
[X] Plan: "Signing up for office was a bad idea."
[X] Plan: My programming was not mads for ruling the Republic !
[X] Plan: Flesh of silver, heart of gold, soul of Skywalker.
[X] Plan: Meat Bags!
[X] Plan Nothing To Lose But Your Restraining Bolts

…..Maybe what we need is to pull a page from the Ciaphas Cain series. Considering the whole Thing is a crackish style that somehow works in the Warhammer 40k verse…

And I have to reiterate that we can do both, we can have silly antics and a premise based on crack and with crack elements while still preserving the TCW seriousness

The sillyness helps balance out the darker aspects and - if handled correctly and timed well - can lower a reader's guard for a truly gut-wrenching moment(s) that stick with them long after they put it down

Food tastes better when you're hungry and the same dynamic works with crack/serious, the more fluff you read, the more you're bracing for the axe to fall, and the more serious moments you go through, the more of a reprieve the fluff will feel

Depending on how Magoose writes her, Venari and the AU Clone Wars can satisfy that niche pretty nicely

[X] Plan: Tarkin Doctrine
-[X] Wilhuff Tarkin
-[X] What do you look like?
-[X] The Loyal Officer: The Republic's Shield

I'm voting Tarkin because the guy was part of Bink's administration, is a different character from canon, and it would be neat to see him as Supreme Chancellor for the sequel.

"Come, my friends, vote for Venari!
The Vulture Droid freed herself from the Slaving Separatist Council's Army, she faced down the greatest of horrors then, yet when she escaped, did she disappear somewhere else to hide out the War?
No!
She came to Corusant itself, the heart of the Republic, to get help for her people!
How great a person she is! Showing more morality than even most beings I know!
A Hero of the Modern age, standing against the Tyranny of the Separatist, and risking her life so openly!"
- Expert from a speech made by Senator Ventos.

"Thank you for your kind words, Senator, but I'm certain there are more deserving Candidates then me."
-Supreme Chancellor Venari's response to the speech, soon after this, her vote count would expand dramatically, and soon afterwards, she would be sworn in as Chancellor.

OOC: Not everything in Ventos's speech was accurate, in fact, most of it wasn't, it was mainly shit he guessed and assumed was true.

Anyway, here's my attempt at showing more open support to this, it would certainly be an amazing result.

"How polite of Chancellor Venari to wait until the rest of the Senators have arrived!"

"Or mayhaps she has some... backroom deals she's waiting upon?"

Venari: Standing outside the Senate chamber and internally screaming because she's late, lost and can't find a doorway big enough to enter through

It would be hilarious if moments where Chancellar Venari was desperately searching for a her-sized door ended up being important 'chance' meetings that nobody else believes is actually down to chancw.

Not really true, in my perspective the choices are between a fleshy and a robot. Is Orion Pax breaking the fourth wall too much? Yup. There were setting compliant robot choices to put down, but that's the way of quests in general when offered a write-in. People don't play in the sandbox of the setting, choosing instead to go Meta.

Can there be crack? Ehhhhhh, this is where I see the vote as a robot vs fleshy one. Since the robot as supreme chancellor feels like it is being suggested for Robot Rights and to do the same thing the majority did last quest (bulldoze stability for progress).

While Fleshy means the baggage a Robot carries is less valued. Also means more focus on war, but what can be done? War is here.

Well do you guys think that this election will be a meme itself, as the election for chancellorship would be between only two known characters we know well.

[X] Plan: Guardian of the Republic

I like this one the best, sidesteps the ones i don't really like. Who knows what will happen in the span of a week.
