You had stood there, understandings passed through your shimmering violet eyes when he had waited. He always did, he waited for you.
He wished to know your thoughts and feelings, a brother that you would've wanted. It was a shame that you were not lesser, that you couldn't be what he wanted.
He would have preferred one brother that hadn't went behind his back. That tried to treat him as if he hadn't understood intracies or even worse, himself.
You knew that he cared, so much, but he cared selfishly. It was one thing that you both understood, one where you each had your flaws and strengths, you would need to play to each of yours.
You had quickly taken a breath, you would need to steady yourself.
Emotions would not be the death of your brotherhood here, you would need them and him, as he would need you and your skill with people.
Two sides of the same coin, you were a loyal brother, even if he hadn't understood that, yet.
"I would like an answer." He hissed impatiently, his eyes glaring at you when you had given him a smile that was amused, carefully so that it was twitchy with nerves.
"You might not like the words you hear." You easily sung back to him, your shoulders shrugging as his eyes slowly blinked, he closed them for a time.
Much like you he needed to count to himself to keep his cool, to understand himself.
Perhaps that is why Rhaena had come before Aegon, perhaps she knew he would still be angry and you would need your rest. Well, you might give her too much credit but you thank her thoughtfully with your eyes running along Aegon's face, tracing every twitch and breath that he willed to keep himself calm.
"It is not the way we have done things, but your words mean the world to me. I would prefer, greatly so, to hear them from you, Viserys." He carefullly uttered, his words smooth but held an edge for you to tell him the truth and you decided you would.
He had only deserved that much, hadn't he?
"Hm." You hum and step forward, your arms guided behind your back as you tilted your head thoughtfully to the side, your moments hardly measured but the truth uttered within seconds that you hardly note his face or the depth of emotions that play out like a mummer's performance with unpracticed worry.
"I worry about you, Egg. So much. It makes me worry about how you would handle enemies, and those who would act against you. I do not think you would be prepared for the execution of such matters. I didn't wish for you to find out this way but it is where we are, brother. So I have to say it, I care for the people and what they tell me, what they have spoken to me about is something that would leave you woefully unprepared."
Your words spilt with hardness, your voice an edge from anger, but not towards your brother, never towards him.
You loved Egg, you cherished him, and needed him more than thoughts and words could describe.
"Lannister and Hightower would have fought against you, Aegon. So I needed someone who was here, who could place them back into their seats and behave. That was Maegor, he is the weapon I would rather wield than face. He should be like that for you as well, because I have given you what you needed, Aegon. I have given you what you needed. Not wanted, and by gods not what you deserved, and I apologize for that but what was needed to prepare you."
Your words were harsh as you focused on Aegon as you saw how his face cracked but his fingers twitched, his eyes glistened as he turnt away from you. He took deep breaths as he his shoulders wracked, you did not need to see this but it was humbling when you saw how fragile and easily riled your brother was.
He hadn't said anything for a long time then, his breaths steadied him and you watched him as he kept his back to you. He had only managed to keep himself calm for that moment.
"And what is that? Who will follow me now, brother? What if by some miracle, the sword you would wield decides to have a child and then what happens? I am to wage a war against my own blood? Have you thought this through? Have you thought about the long term effects of what this is? How does this help me and why can't I get what I want? Hm? I am not a child for you to make choices for me! I would prefer for you to make choices with me."
He hissed once more. Though you try to consider it a lesser reaction, to hope it was just his emotions and yet you could tell something was shifting between you both.
You had looked down at the field. Where your dragon had rested, its snout even keeping itself to your feet as it felt your calm. Reacting in kind as you enjoyed the relatively stress free spaces of moments that kept you from feeling like you had messed up.
Deep down, you knew you had done what was best for him, what would guarantee your brother his throne.
"I have, brother. In every way, I have. Do you know why? Let Maegor take it all, handle every threat and worry, do you know what you will do, brother?" Your voice was that of a storyteller's, your eyes narrowed and you felt a thrill at the searing pride in your chest.
Your plan would be perfect.
"You are the perfect prince, brother. The handsome, martially inclined, and gifted swordsman. You who will hear the pleas of the people and consider the plights of the ladies who feel threatened by the likes of their husbands and brothers. Brother, you have your beginning right here. I am by your side, Rhaena is at your side, why? Because we love you, tell me, do you know what they say of us?" You did not need to do anything else.
But you had, this time like a slithering snake you had circled yourself around him. You had leaned forward, arms folded over your chest and your smirk was beautiful. Yet it was Aegon, he smiled at you, his trust in you was there and you fucking loved it.
You had only felt this well when you had claimed yourself Tessarion, your brilliant brother.
"What hm? What do they say?" His lips moved but you had focused on his eyes.
You did not need to see anything else.
"The three heads of the dragon. The charmer, the Lady, and the Dragon. Aegon the Dragon, reborn, some would say. I did this, for you. While you may doubt my intentions, and consider my ways a betrayal. A good advisor, no, gods no. A good hand has to make decisions that others would consider detrimental. A good leader must know one to rely on himself and when to rely on his support. That's what I am, and all I ever want to be."
You had said it outright as he stared at you with a red flush to his cheeks. His eyes widened as he looked at you, his eyes welling with emotion again as he looked a little choked up.
"I hadn't known, I wouldn't have cared if I were honest, but why Maegor? Why couldn't we have done it this way? The way we should have? What caused you to act like this?"
He was still curious but you wee glad he was calmer. He considered you now as you sat idle in the dragonpit as he stood there, watching you.
"There was a plan, to marry you off. To Rhaena." You had looked at him squarely when you wondered about how they made you feel, them leaving you to start a life of their own.
You should have been happy but there was just something off about it as you cleared your throat, enough of that.
"And should I assume you stopped it?" You heard it then, how his voice was both amused and glad for it.
"For now. I think with my coming nameday that he will have a plan of some sort and our cousins in the Velyarons or perhaps he will go further afar. Essos is easily considerable as is our further ashore valyrians in House Celtigar. One day someone will offer a dowry big enough or an alliance easy enough to have one or both of my siblings, and it will be a day I welcome."
You smile at that as you looked at him clearly, the way his arms idled at his sides when you had simply looked up at him.
There was a difference now.
"Then what am I to do in the mean time? If Maegor is to be the scapegoat, what should I have in mind for myself?" You watch as he turned himself away, kicking his feet into the dirt as you wondered about that too.
It would need to be something clear and wild enough for your brother's blood. He would not count coppers and if you were honest, neither would you but you stared at him again as he just waited for a word.
"What?" You blankly asked, your lips quivering up into a smile as he crouched down to your level.
His hand on your shoulder and his eyes far softer than before but even you saw there was worry. He looked for hints of something, of deceit. You misliked it, but even now you knew some sort of trust would need to be built back to where it should have always been.
"Well. Seeing as you wish to be a hand, brother, why shouldn't we make the most of it?" He teases with a soft lilt to his voice as he leaned himself forward. He bumped heads with you and rested there a moment, intensity burning in similar eyes to your own as you smirked with pride to yourself.
"Me and you? Where? Haven't you hear of what I just said? The realm? You would consider travelling now? Have you gone mad?" Your voice had already gone several octaves higher as he simply smiled, a wilder side to himself than you recalled but your brother's blood had always called for battle, to prove himself before those that would doubt him and his family.
It was one of the few things that made it easy to love him. To consider him the realm's best hope for something. It would not be Maegor, and even your uncle understood that it was only tempoarary.
"Of course not, but why shouldn't we? Consider it. Me, you, and Rhaena travelling. Singing, sword, and sonnets with ladies and lords. It could be a belated gift as well, I have not gotten you anything, yet, and as I know you would not pick up a sword." He laughs as he presses his head against yours, but he is not wrong neither...
Depending on what happens, it could be good for you. To make friends, and perhaps even then, see the rest of the realm. You have not seen it....
And if you had, the memory of it fades with these times growing uncertain as it is...
