You had only sat there, but this time, your smile had formed on your lips.
"What would you rather me say, sister?" You had given her the faintest of smiles, a shadow of it like it were a minute circlet of tin around your head. "I don't think you would prefer I lie, and we both know that you have suitors." Her blush was beautiful, you had thought. The moment dawned on you further, and whilst whispers of the thoughts had made themselves known, there was one prominent thing that just echoed in your mind.
"You can lie?" She smirked at you, her voice tinged with amusement as she recalled the times where you tried and failed miserably.
"Occasionally, sister." Your voice rumbled back to her; it was different and unlike yourself or like the both of you in this moment. Where everything seemed to escalate with but words and no further needs or tugs of emotion.
"One day I shall like to see you try, but what is it? What do I deserve from your lips?" She laughed, and again, you're reminded of how different it is to yours.
Yours would have been songful, like windchimes, and it was not daunting or as loud and thunderous as the Baratheons when they had knocked back tankards of mead. No, yours would have belonged to a bard in some sort of seedy tavern where you wooed wenches and made lords spend their gold as you made those who understood know that you had done this for them.
Yours was a laugh that brought people out of their darkness and that there always was a light in a room cloudy with darkness.
Yet there was Rhaena's. Where yours was the light, or perhaps the candle, she was the sun itself.
Your beautiful sister had always made herself available for you or Aegon both; she had tried to soothe you both and ease your worries. However what came here was her strength.
While you had cared effortlessly for people, including your family, Rhaena had made it an effort to bring you love and comfort both.
Where you would always hear her and be aware if she were near you. When you were capable of seeing her in ways that no one else would ever appreciate, you wanted to give that back.
To make sure she understood that unless she decided it, no one, not even the lord paramounts and their claws would ever be good enough for her. She needed to know her value, that you and Aegon both cared for her in ways that she would never understand.
"Father had wished to marry you off. To stave off lords and prevent rebellion from reaching us in our home." You stared at her now and you hadn't even needed to see how Tessarion had mimicked you.
How Tessarion's tail had tried to intertwine with Dreamfyre's, but the dragon had given for what you were certain was a purr, as if it were the beginning of some sort of dance, you tried to not pay attention to it.
Nor the thrill you felt as your sister's eyes widened and her lips thinned.
She misliked being carted off.
"Should I assume there is a good ending to this, my little brother?" She cooed softly, but her voice had already threatened some sort of anger, but you had nodded your head, giving her a moment to compose herself.
"You do not need to pull rank, sister. If I recall, I lay claim to the larger dragon between us both." You had easily allowed your songful voice to slip into competition as Rhaena had rolled her eyes playfully, offering you a coy smirk.
"Ah~ My mistake. I forget that you are a veteran rider of eight years. My apologies, little brother." She cooed once more, and you stammered, blushing but rolling your eyes in defeat as you continued.
"There was a choice to make. However, I begged for him to allow me to find out the truths. To find out who harbours ill intentions towards our family, and it equally played into our uncle's near banishment, but of course, we needed him, sister." Your voice had been careful, far more than it had before as Rhaena narrowed her eyes on you.
She hadn't needed to prompt you to continue; instead, you had already leapt before you looked. You had needed for her to understand you, for her to know that this was not a moment of betrayal or something else.
"I learnt some things. We have a bigger enemy than those amongst ourselves. There is the faith, Rhaena. The High Septon wishes for us to not last, that we are abominations of incest and the like. If you and Aegon or...anything else for that matter were to go on without intergrating into the realm. It would be seen as less than stellar and a cause for rebellion. Egg wouldn't have been ready, I know that."
Your voice was filled with confident as you felt ten times taller, and your sister's eyes had only met yours with not a shake but the slightest gleam of dissapointment.
She had shaken her head and placed her hands into yours. "Is that what you believe? That Egg wouldn't have been prepared to fight for what was ours? Not his, but ours, by right, the faith would burn regardless, but I can see why you did what you thought you had to do. However, little brother, you have given someone a key to their ascension. Do you trust our uncle to do what is best for the family?" You had chuckled at that, and you found yourself somewhat believing in your uncle.
He would do it, yes.
You recall the looks he sent you, the moments where he thought that you all couldn't be trusted to do what needed to be done, but you had done it. Sometimes it was necessary, and though you opted and even begged for it, peace was not always viable, and your family would need someone to make the tough calls.
You could not be the perfect prince, and that hurt you.
"In all honesty, Rhaena? I believe Uncle Maegor wants our dynasty to succeed and do what grandfather did not. Conquer. Uncle Maegor is, hm, he loves father. He truly does—that much, I can see. He expresses it in the strangest of ways, but he has care, and he believes that he should be the one leading us in these difficult times, but if he hadn't cared, he would have fucked off and waited for us to be killed by the faith or others. Instead, he puts down rebellions and is assuring that our dynasty lasts as long or longer than these so-called great houses." Your voice had taken a different edge.
Arrogance belayed your usual softness.
You had felt your eyes burn with satisfaction as you shivered before you turned your eyes to Tessarion. His head tilted, and a small thrill of power rushed through your body.
Tessarion had merely given you appreciation and understanding that you were above the ones who wished for your family's hand.
"You even speak like him." Rhaena hadn't seemed disappointed, but she had held your hand tighter, her lips curled, and her head softly rested on your own.
"He is not wrong. They will grasp for the dragon, and that means, sister, unless you wish it, unless it is something you truly want, no one will ever marry you. Father adores us and he loves us; he can and will give us this benefit at the very least." Your voice was hard there; you felt as if it was necessary to give her that, to give that assurance.
Your arm circled around her waist, and for a time, there was only silence before your sister had cleared her throat. It had felt like cold water had been doused over you both. Quickly, she had thrown herself off of you, and her smile was brittle.
For a second, you thought you saw some sort of flush on her cheeks. The way she just seemed to turn herself away and cleared her throat again, heavier and harder before she found her gaze on the dragons.
In the time that you had both taken to so easily wind up in peace and tranquillity. There was Tessarion and Dreamfyre; the two were easily circling each other this time. It was again like a dance. There was something far more primal about it, however, Dreamfyre had retreated and Tessarion had stood there, a growl, low and proud that only the two of you could have heard echoed throughout the dragonpit as there was silence for all of a few minutes.
Awkwardness had settled finally as you turned to see your sister studying you.
She had eyed the side of your face, and for a moment you could have sworn there was just some sort of nervousness to her. Like she couldn't comprehend what was happening in this very second.
Rhaena Targaryen Relationship Change: Very Complicated
"So." She cleared her throat, her eyes focused on your feet, and her cheeks flushed again. "You have claimed your dragon." She meandered on that again, as if something else was making itself known to her as she finally looked you in the eyes.
"We have been over this. Yes, I have, and can I ask you a question?" You had smiled as she had excitedly bobbed her head up and down; the way she had seemed like some sort of dog bounding towards you, eager for some sort of turnaway from the moment minutes ago.
"Please, Viserys." Her voice was terribly different; there was not the sign of softness in that tone of hers.
You had rubbed a hand at your chest and threw away that moment of hurt but decided to focus on what you'd felt with Tessarion.
"There's these feelings with Tessarion, like they're both my own and his. Like they are intermingling, and I don't know how to describe it, but it feels as if I am...two, or perhaps sharing a body even. It feels difficult to explain, Rhae." You growled to yourself; your voice eeked out with some annoyance as you shook your head and just frowned at the sand at your feet.
It was silent, and you caught the astonished look on her face before she nodded her head with a hum. "Yes, that is, uh, well, it is what happens with dragons. Though interesting, you're not meant to feel anything. You have only just bonded; it took me years until I could connect with Dreamfyre like that. How...what did you do to bond?" Rhaena was softer now, but it had only been tinged with worry as she stared at you closely.
You coul have sworn her fingers twitched at her side as if she wanted to cup your face inbetween her hands but had stopped herself.
"I spoke to it, sister. It just seemed right..." At the same time those words had left your lips, Tessarion had growled low, it had sneakily nudged your foot and laid itself back down at your side with a huff. Your eyes held love for the boy as you felt what it did for you in return, words couldn't describe the feeling you had with it.
"It felt like I had a friend, a brother, everything I could ever need with Tessarion." Your words continued, describing the mystery and intricacy of what you shared with your dragon as Rhaena had stood there, she had taken in ever single word before she just shook her head. It was if she hadn't even understood it before she too had stared at her dragon.
Dreamfyre had crawled towards Rhaena and yet, Rhaena was surpised when Dreamfyre had merely snuzzled and huffed at her feet. Mimicking both you and Tessarion, it was as if it were the first time it happened.
"That is different, brother. I had to, well, I guess you know how I spent my time with Dreamfyre but even our bond is hardly like that. What you're describing sounds like the truest form of a bond. Where you are partners in every sense of the word, where your thoughts are its thoughts and its thoughts arre yours. Those types of things are supposedly dangerous because if any of you were to die, well, it would be like you could never ride another dragon again. Nothing would compare, nothing could ever compare. It is a bond that is described in one of father's books." She was quiet, her voice a whisper of a thing as she stood there, staring at you with wide eyes.
You, however, had looked down at Tessarion. It hadn't seemed that way but when you thought about it, your thoughts had quickly turnt scattered. You could not live without Tessarion, it was your first and only. You would not have another, that was for certain, you could not.
"It is true. He is mine and I am his." You had uttered the words without thought before your sister had teased you with a giggle.
"You married it now? Should I tell Egg?" You had turnt to her with a small furrow of your brow.
"Why would Egg care? Why do you for that matter? Don't tell me you two are jealous I am the first." For a moment, your sister had froze, again. Her eyes had shifted and there was just the flicker of surprise in her eyes.
"I do not care. Now, you have claimed your dragon, what's next for you, Vis? Don't tell me you are done now." She had switched paces so quickly that you had stared at Rhaena with surprise as you shook your head.
"Wait. Done with what? What could you possibly mean, sister?" You frowned as she had muttered something beneath her breath.
"Of course, you don't notice, you never do." She had stared at you plainly then. "Your dreams, what else do you want to do? What else do you want to have now that you have your brother with you?" She had easily waved her hand over towards Tessarion as you had thought about it clearly.
What else did you want?
What else would be a dream you could acomplish?
[] [Dream] To See the Known World
You have always wondered what lies beyond Dragonstone. It is your home, and besides your one trip to Oldtown to see your father crowned king. You have not known the world beyond that, to see the wall or perhaps the slag towers of Harrenhal, you have an ever increasing imagination that begs for you to see more than what you have. One day, you will see it, and perhaps you may yet see the free cities in which a different fate could have awaited your grandsire, Aegon.
[] [Dream] To be the People's Champion
The people have long been trod upon. They consider themselves lesser, they have no names, and barely know their letters or numbers. It seems that you have earned a reputation. A notice that perhaps you are someone who will fight for them, who will give them something worth living for. They wish for you to be their champion, to help them, to give them rights, to stop their wives from being taken by an overzealous lord. They beg for a dragon, noble and steadfast, to protect them.
[] [Dream] To Master the Blade
You have seen how Aegon easily finds himself sparring in the yard, you notice how Maegor is considered one of the best amongst those in Westeros. You have claimed a Dragon, now you wish to have more, to have your blood sing for the field and to have the greatest tale known to man. From tourneys to duels, you will be one of the greatest swordsmen that history recalls. You will take this chance and more to be something more than what you ever thought you could be. To protect your family.
[] [Dream] Write-In
"Would you like to ride, brother?" It is sudden but Rhaena is before you. Her eyes amused when you jumped back with fright. Your arms outstretched and your lips quivered softly before you released a breath. You feel the teeniest bit of shame from your bond as you looked down at Tessarion, you could have sworn that there was some sort of furrowed brow and second hand embarrassment coming from the lazy sod. You just scowled at him before he snorted and left you to your sister once more.
"Aren't you afraid?" You challenged this time and Rhaena's good sense had left her as she poked your chest. You had laughed but this time she had pushed further. Her eyes levelled with yours and it was sudden that you could have sworn there was an entirely different colour to your sister's gaze.
Before you could have noticed the gleam of purple but it was differet in the shade. They were like uncut gems of amethyst.
You had smiled for certain when they were so expressive. She wasn't able to help herself, to see how easily she had made herself seem so...
Amazing.
"Vis? Are you good there?" You were brought out of that...
What had just happened?
You smiled faintly but focused as your sister had leaned forward sighed, she turned about. "And here I thought you were the big strong protector of us all, brother. Are you afraid you're going to lose to me now?"
Your emotions were a mess but you had felt that searing burn of pride in your chest as you locked gazes with your confident sister who had only winked at you...
She wanted this.
[] Race Tessarion against Dreamfyre and Rhaena...
[] Do not. That feeling was...different.
A/N: So yes, the stretch of the bond with Tessarion has been revealed and the level it is at is the reward, as well as surprise because of the opposite happening in others. Now there is also Rhaena and Viserys, which I assure you is fine...
(Maybe...)
