Fractured Fantasy: A CK2 Style Final Fantasy quest

Oh, okay, gotcha. So the play option would just be a chance to have Aerith up there herself, without being soft-required?

... If so, I'm honestly considering Visit Wall Market. We have all this gil we're sitting on, and it'll be a good way to get information, otherwise.

[] Visit Wall Market: You know this little slice of criminality still existed even when you were a kid. As you learned during your time with Cloud, as long as you carry a weapon and stick to yourself, you'll be fine. Maybe you can get some shopping done and keep an eye on the rumor mill. (Reward: Information on the conditions in Wall Market and Midgar as a whole. The opportunity to buy illicit goods.)
[] Visit Mom's House: It's risky. There's every chance the Turks are still there, or already there. But you really want to check on Mom. (Reward: Visit your childhood home.)
[] Visit the Church: Your head always feels clearest at the church, it's the only spot in town where you can clearly hear the planet, and maybe you could ask some questions. Although if the Turks see you, they may have some questions of their own… (Reward: A chance to clear your head and commune with the planet)
[] Coach the Infiltration team: You've already given them the gist of what they'll be facing, but more coaching never hurt. (Reward: Add Aerith's Intrigue modifier to the Infiltration Team's initial rolls.)

[] Bodyguard Aerith: Not technically in your mission statement but, it's something to consider. The client can't pay if she's been kidnapped or worse. (Reward: Shadow will take steps to hide and protect Aerith from Shinra. Adding his Intrigue to attempts to hide, and his Martial to attempts to fight)

[] Dancing Lessons: LOVELESS isn't a play that really has any dancing or singing in it, but there are still scenes where footwork is important, and your voice has to carry during a play. Maybe some of your exercises will help? (Reward: Agnea applies her Diplomacy to the performance roll)

Thinking this combination of actions may be our best bet all around. A bonus to both the performance and infiltration rolls, extra protection for Aerith as she goes about Midgar, and taking full advantage of the fact that this is likely the last time for a long while that we'll be back in Midgar. This is the best chance we have for getting more Materia and gear with Materia slots, the best place we currently know of to commune with the Planet, and the only chance we have of getting Elmyra out of Midgar, or at least putting both her and Aerith's minds at ease.

Thankfully none of this necessarily involves Aerith taking a train/going up to the Plate(s), as those are the areas where Shinra has it's automatic ID scanners, rather than in the underplate sectors proper. We only need to be on the lookout for the Turks personally spotting and identifying us, which we have some leeway considering that they'd be on the look out for someone 3-4 years younger than we currently are.

Hey so, remember how Crystals traditionally pick teams of 4? Here's your fourth! I thought it would be extremely funny if you kept missing Angea for one reason or another but, the dice let her find you. I'll get her character sheet to you when I have a chance.
Okay, wow. Was not expecting to gain a new hero just like that. I thought Freya and Alfyn were able to see the vision of Chaos because they already were Aerith's heroes in a way, while Wakka and Basch were kind of guests. So all four of them were choosen by the crystals them huh? Interesting. Anyway, I'm more than happy to have more help around. Thanks Zidane! :p
Entreat: It's honestly kind of amazing what you can do with a little charm. Get people to help you with things, ask for favors, 'borrow' something, and that sort of thing. [Add half of Agnea's diplomacy to Stewardship and Intrigue checks done 'face to face']
... I said it as a joke before, but now i'm serious, thank you Zidane!. This trait is gonna be such a great help.

Now, as for the options, it's hard to pick. I want almost all of these options. For now, the ones i'm more interested in are:
[] Visit Mom's House: It's risky. There's every chance the Turks are still there, or already there. But you really want to check on Mom. (Reward: Visit your childhood home.)
[] Visit the Church: Your head always feels clearest at the church, it's the only spot in town where you can clearly hear the planet, and maybe you could ask some questions. [] Coach the Infiltration team: You've already given them the gist of what they'll be facing, but more coaching never hurt. (Reward: Add Aerith's Intrigue modifier to the Infiltration Team's initial rolls.)
[] Prepare for the Play: You've only really been on stage once before, so you have some experience but not a lot of experience. Baku point blank refused to let you participate unless you attended acting boot camp. [Note: Cannot be taken with "Really Prepare for the Play"] (Reward: Aerith is allowed to perform on stage)

I wonder if her mom's been revived too.
if this Midgar is earlier in time, then they probably never died? though do note there's chance either something bad may have happened to them, they've been snatched by Shinra, or they've been sent somewhere random, so don't get your hopes up too much. (even if she's still alive there may be issues involved, it probably wouldn't be safe for her? which is a huge can of worms)

(went through comments a bit after after sending the first one, sorry if it comes out weird)
But... Wow. I... Wow, hey! We have a 4th hero now! And apparently all along, she just kept missing us? XD
nice try but "all along" has only been a couple turns. that's less a scenario of freak absences and more some romantic comedy style stalking/refusal to say hi
Yeah, especially with Agnea there to help, I feel that putting two actions in prepping for the play is overkill. We're likely not going to head to Midgar all that often for a while, and the Church is one of the best places for Aerith to communicate with Planet
hard to say, could be a scenario where it's a contested check or the higher the better for keeping the distraction going?

good reasoning, especially regarding shadow being good enough (it's a nice reassurance for me lol) though i'm thinking long-term it may be best to skip wall market? there's no need to go here specifically for shopping since we have other uses for funds and are trying to phase out our use of Materia so it's main appeal would be information. that's possibly helpful to the infiltration, but if wer'e going to other places for information too we may be safe to skip it? depends if you think direct info from Elmyra (hopefully)/the planet trumps underworld info i guess

if so, the freed option could be an opportunity to try and look into AVALANCHE (if an action for it is added, which griffinw mentioned being a possibility) or make sure it goes off safely with a disguise (could free up shadow for something more specific?) or practice just a little to perform (we're not needed, but it would give us an achievement, which i'm choosing to interpet as performing on stage being one of our life's dreams? and it would presumably have a reward which are nice too:)

maybe the power of friendship convinced the crystals to pick 3/4 members from the same group? it's definitely awfully kind of them, they seem pretty helpful.
you could also interpret it as them being jerks and going "ew boys" to wakka/basch or something, which might be a comedic take?

Just to be transparent, the Play essentially has a sliding scale of results ranging from "a bunch of people leave in the middle because they think it's a bad play" to "Tantalus receives a standing ovation from Genesis himself, and an enthusiastic request for an encore."

Without spoiling the DCs, Tantalus are good at their jobs, so they are fairly likely to get a good result. But of course, spending actions preparing for the play can let Aerith and co put their finger on the scale.

... Oh, true, I guess it's just felt longer.

trying to phase out our use of Materia
Yes, but given how Aerith needs time to learn a spell, and we only have 1 equipment piece with a materia slot to learn spells with, I feel like that isn't a reason to discount shopping for it. Besides, we can also pick up some accessories or equipment or something for our other party members, or hand them the materia after Aerith is done.

Allure: People have always complimented your looks, and as a dancer, your beauty is one of your greatest assets. You'd be surprised what doors being such a charmer can open. [+10 to diplomacy checks against those swayed by beauty]

The game was rigged from the start. For Zidane, anyway.

I like to think Agnea's been missing her rolls because she's been searching for us very unsuccessfully and couldn't get her various bonuses. But along comes a teenage boy who makes an overly enthusiastic first move, probably brags about being part of Tantalus, the same group she saw the two women from the vision go talk with, and boy oh boy, the world simply does not make marks this easy these days, let alone this perfect for Agnea's stated goals.

Thanks for being the failsafe there, Zidane.

[X] Plan: Déjà Vu! I've just been in this place before
-[X] Visit Wall Market: You know this little slice of criminality still existed even when you were a kid.
-[X] Visit Sector 5: It's risky. There's every chance the Turks are already there looking for you, or have staked out the places you used to frequent. But you really want to check on Mom, and the Sector 5 Church is the only place you've really been able to commune with the planet in Midgar (Reward: Visit your childhood home. A chance to clear your head and commune with the planet)
-[X] Create a disguise: If the Turks are looking for you, they'll have an easy time finding you in public spaces, or places you frequent. Luckily Tantalus has plenty of stuff for you to use. Costumes, cosmetics, hair dye and more. (Reward: Reduce the chances that Aerith is spotted or identified by Shinra)
-[X] Coach the Infiltration team: You've already given them the gist of what they'll be facing, but more coaching never hurt. (Reward: Add Aerith's Intrigue modifier to the Infiltration Team's initial rolls.)
-[X] Spy on Shinra: This is a different environment than what you're used to, and Aerith has gone to great lengths to illustrate the danger of the Turks. Still, more information can only be helpful. (Reward: Observe Shinra, potentially gleaning useful information)
-[X] Dancing Lessons: LOVELESS isn't a play that really has any dancing or singing in it, but there are still scenes where footwork is important, and your voice has to carry during a play. Maybe some of your exercises will help? (Reward: Agnea applies her Diplomacy to the performance roll)

With the Sector 5 actions combined, we can easily fit in a disguise for Aerith, which should free up Shadow to investigate Shinra on his own. Hopefully he'll find some info that will be helpful in the infiltration, but at the very least it will get him more familiar with their systems/habits.

I'm not super convinced in visiting Wall Market. I mean, we'll be able to buy some things we can get up north, so it's not the worst option, but I'd rather have Aerith be there on stage.

Heads up, Mom's House and Church got turned into one action because they're so close, so you have one extra action for Aerith available

Even though I've focused on Wall Market as an avenue to acquire Materia and Materia slotted gear, I do want to point out that tapping into the Midgar rumor mill is a valuable opportunity! If the action from Turn 7 is anything to go by, we could learn about some of the locations or wandering Heroes within Shinra's claimed territory, as well as any anti-Shinra resistance groups like the Forest Owls in Timber.

very nice we got the two actions fused, that simplifies options a bunch

wall market's decent, but spying on shinra should achive similar results hopefully (for the infiltration maybe, for the rest hard to say) and other plans get us able to perform (maybe even with the disguise? could be useful for avoiding a positive ID during the performance too, at least if we're fine with Tantalus+person who went to sector 5 being connected?)

[X]Plan: Aerith on Stage

think i'm happiest with this (unless visiting wall market gets us avalanche connections, but that's a longshot)
