[X] [Link Style] Neural Helmet (Partial Possession)
I think we are halfway through so it is more about what we can comfortably take, what actively helps, and what can be worked around. I found that the Cybernetic Immersion Tank to be one we can take and work around. We really need to get that skeletal agility and power control up, and Tech Simplicity can be built back up to C-.Put on the gaming helmet and give us that sweet sweet Combat Potential. I think it's too late in the project to try and compensate for a lot of penalties, and I'd also rather not make the pilot interface the experimental part.
@Verisaimilitude would we be able to improve upon the Cybernetic Immersion Tank later even if we do not pick it for this mech? I want to fill it with water that can read your nervous system through your skin.
Hmm, I do agree that the tank has a lot of potential, I'll vote for it now though it's unlikely to win. Maybe we can use it in the next design. I also think a more "full-body" experience would be better for bipedal mechs, whereas on this one with just the helmet, there's less learning how to act like a quadruped.I think we are halfway through so it is more about what we can comfortably take, what actively helps, and what can be worked around. Reqd the requirements for Cybernetic Immersion, and tell me how little or much you think that's going to kill pilot recruitment. Especially in the 2nd line nations we're selling to.Here me out guys, I really want the Cybernetic Immersion Tank to win. The heat management cost we can take without endangering our requirements, the Tech Simplicity we can restore with later choices, and the pilot protection can be corrected by armor and where we choose to place the tank. Arguably the most important aspect of a mech is the cockpit so we aught to put our best foot there and continue to develop it further over the generations. This option also improves Skeletal Agility by +2 and Power Control by +1 which are areas we seriously need to improve stat.
I am with you here 100%. We want to sell these in bulk. Having ten million mechs doesn't do you any good if you only have 1,000 pilots. The Neural Helmet feels like the most accessible option. Improving Crew Protection is very important. This isn't Third Succession Wars Battletech. Compared to training a decently skilled pilot mechs are cheap. Being able to point at the unit and say 'WHEN you take a crippling hit you have a much better chance of walking away' is a key selling point.Reqd the requirements for Cybernetic Immersion, and tell me how little or much you think that's going to kill pilot recruitment. You are making expensive, invasive cybernetics that breed an extremely dangerous form of psychosis a fundamental requirement for a cheap "everyone gets one" Mech.
In other words, Absolutely Not. Not this round.
I'll be happy to do it after we've let it cook some more.
That's a good point.if magic users have been technophobes to this degree so far the company might be able to make a big profit off turning that software our computer techs cobbled together into an actual program for the company to offer as a product.
That's pretty much the prevailing theory yeah. I'd iamgine the homegrown Zaibatsu mechs have them.I think the magic one would be for the high end mechs. They will be expensive so there will be less. So magic for the high end mechs.
bit nit-picky but I would draw more comparisons to the Renault FT than the T-34 (real or meme).1/50 is not a bad ratio... For a mech that isn't designed as bottom of the barrel mook.

If we were making something that wasn't intended to be a T-34 of a mech, a little bit shit but simple enough to export on mass, Maybe I would feel fine with the magi-tech option. For our corprate security force, Or similarly small but elite, or just elite in general mechs, maybe, but not for this and not for now.
