Operation Weihnachtswunder (A CK2 Style Quest to Save Christmas!)

...is there any chance of use at some point recruiting (some of) the mice of Gloucester?

I am loving all of these weapon ideas! :D
A spirit operated weapon idea:
The Light-ning snake
A Christmaslight. Can slither at enemies like a snake, coils around an enemy and stabs them with the plug before electrocuting them.
The lights themselves are off while hiding/slithering towards the enemy and only glow when charging to "bite".

The Light-ning snake, hot
As the Light-ning snake, but its an USAmerican model with a male and a female plug to allow daisy-chaining. Alternate attack: After coiling around something the male plug plugs into the female plug and the Light-ning snake does its charged-bite, short-circuiting with itself and catching on fire. (At this point the operating spirit would posess something else, this snake is done)

You are Ebenezer Scrooge. The second to hold the mantle of Santa Claus. And the last twenty-four hours have been the most chaotic you've ever experienced.
For Ebenezer Scrooge that's... actually a pretty high bar.
Since this turn only our Stats apply, we should look towards either Stew actions (for all his failings in the past, Scrooge always had a way with money, ledgers and the like, so it should come naturally to him) or those with a low DC like "Getting to know each other"
Our Occult is actually a bit better than our Stewardship, and Diplomacy and Learning aren't bad.

the things we shoudl be focusing on right now are...
- Time-critical stuff, fi we think that it'll have payoff that's worth it.
- Econ stuff - the things that either generate resources in an ongoing way or set us up so that we can do that later.

We are actively terrible at intrigue and shoudl avoid it. For Those Without is a feel-good action, but the actual benefits aren't great. It's primarily a "spend some actions to get some resources" and we're currently sitting on a major pile of resources that we'll want to burn into assets.

[x] Plan Prepare for the Long Term
-[x] Is There Anyone Else?: You're sure everyone who could have made it to you has. But is there any way to safely double-check? Maybe send the Ghosts out to see if they find anything? Cost: 10 CS (Success Only). DC: 50 / 100 / 150. Bonus: Occult. Rewards: ???
--[x] Feast Bonus
-[x] Shopping Spree: You have a lot of things you need to buy for the Workshop. Not all of them are in the Seen World. Cost: 0 (Initially). DC: 30 / 60 / 100 / 150. Bonus: Stewardship. Rewards: Interlude: Shopping Trip (Twelve Nights 2024/5)
-[x] Getting to Know One Another: You have a traumatized Reindeer, an injured Winter Spirit, and a new Maid. You want to get to know them, see how they're doing, and see how you can help them.
Cost: 0 CS. DC: None. Bonus: None. Rewards: Interlude: Getting To Know One Another

If there *is* anyone else, they might be in trouble, or in need of help. They'll also be *important*, on a spiritual level if nothing else.

Shopping Spree because it's a chance to build up the workshop more. We've got a huge pile of christmas spirit in the bank, and the entire quest ahead of us. This is the absolute best time to invest in infrastructure.

Getting to Know One Another to try to help our team gel better, and get a better idea of how to support our friends/upgrade our hero units.

Right now, our ability to help those in need is as limited as it will ever be. We'll be a lot better off investing in improving that ability, and *then* helping. Also, putting the word out on the Unseen Street of "Santa is alive and well and living in England" is maybe not so great for things like short-term survivability. Let's get our feet under us before we openly declare ourselves.

your reasoning for forgoing it is sound and i wanted to drop it too from a utilitarian perspective (we can help more overall if we can operate at a large scale first), but this is a quest about being generous and the spirit of Christmas so I'd expect it to be pretty obligatory, to the extent that I'm assuming a plan without it wouldn't win in the slightest
idk, not taking it could be failing a "secret test of character" (at least in the eyes of some) and we'd lose out because of it

You missed the fact it almost certainly unlocks another trait for the Sleigh.
And obviously the symbolic meaning (and thereby undercutting of the takeover)
Okay... why would you say that? Do you have any reasoning beyond "I'm going to guess, and then assume that I am right"? It doesn't even necessarily use the sleigh.

well if we're doing stuff over a wide area i'd hope we'd get to use the sleigh, regardless of if it counts as our "first delivery" or not. only reason not to is secrecy concerns, which i'm quietly hoping/not getting my hopes up are factored as a concern when it comes to any trips made

at first i was like "oh, did you edit something cool?" but then i realised you meant SV itself lol
if anyone's looking at this in the future/doesn't know where to check, this quest is SV's current pick of the month for quests
i guess it's fitting as the most christmassy one, huh? well regardless, it hopefully will lead to plenty more activity

out of curiosity, did you get PMed anything on getting it?

I did! I got a PM about it a couple days ago. In fact, the blurb in the alert is the current Front Header, and it was written ahead of time by the Content Promotion Department.

I knew this was coming, and I'm still a bit overwhelmed with emotion. I've even had to rewrite this sentence a few times. All I can say is I'm honored and thankful, and well... it means a lot to me. A real lot.

Fun quest so far! A lovely read for the holidays.

For the sake of reading through the archive, it would be really nice if you included the winning vote option in a spoiler at the start of a post.

Had not considered that! I should be able to do that, provided it doesn't break anything. Testing something, to see if it looks better!

Edit: I think Inline Spoilers look better then General Spoilers. But what does the Questors say?

Personally I prefer a spoiler block
tada!
because it doesn't eat up as much space in the post when scrolling through — when for inline, with a long plan, it can take a bit.
[X]Plan: Stay safe, and Keep Christmas In Your Heart

The winning votes can balloon in length very quickly, so I would recommend General Spoilers, which can be expanded and shrunk as necessary, instead.

Fair enough, that does make sense. Will probably have to do it first thing tomorrow, as I've still got some work to do tonight. (Mainly so I don't have to do anything for the next two weeks). Also, I need to put an Christmas Spirit Expense Sheet up.
