The Enemy Within (WHF Witch Hunter Quest)

[X] Seclusion

The description of slumming it out describes Markus trying to relive his youth, which I don't think is healthy? Especially when it concerns his father.

I think after encountering a Greater Daemon, taking some time to reaffirm his faith and inner peace would be good. Meditation and prayer does that to a man. Might also give Markus an opportunity to talk with other theologians who can perhaps help him reconcile the Mutant Edict, or other aspects of his faith.

I would think nobels know how to read though.
Duellist as a cover and by skill, but by her own admittance, she can't even read the works of the old masters. She probably got gud through sheer practice and experience, imitating the drawn stances and strikes and using intuition to understand what those were for.
Regardless of illiteracy, she's a duellist with a rapier and everything. That sounds indicative of the lifestyle she wants to have. Heck we defended her a couple updates ago because she got in an affair with a nobleman, so she's definitely hobnobbing with those types.

This is a fair point. Much as I would love more social scenes with our retinue, Markus' faith needs some shoring up. Maybe some time spent studying theology will help him in regards to the Mutant Edict.

[X] Seclusion

Also, a incredibly funny possibility. We go to the monastery Edel has been banished to. :V

I think if she's showing Blue Wizard allegiance she may have had a spidey sense/precognition as well.

Oh yeah, did anyone in-thread have a guess as to what the purple handshake thingy was about?
I recognise it from something; it might have been an adventure hook or a Black Library book etc, etc. but I'm not exactly sure where

but basically, he's been Marked for Death/to be used for a plot/piss in his drink by the Purple Hand cult.

its a way for one cult cell to let all the other cells know (probably magically) that if they can, Fuck that guy in particular

Is the hair we are going to lose by becoming a monk so luscious it would be a crime against humanity?
"Attractive 1 Markus is handsome, and knows how to use it when the situation calls for it. He can substitute the number on the units dice for his SL on a successful charm test against someone who finds him appealing."
From the character sheet, so yes he has good hair.

Edit: Markus is canonically so hot it has a mechanical effect. Personaly I picture him as sort of a fancy lumberjack type; big, tall, hairy, well groomed beard. Scars all over. Hair a little less than shoulder length

Faith isn't something you write down and read, it's something you do
Granny Elvyra told us so after all, wouldn't want to disappoint her by ignoring her advice so soon and squirreling ourselves away in some monastery

"See, that's because you've stuffed your head with donkey shit," the apothecary says cheerfully, and while you are processing the shock of being sworn at by a peasant she presses on, "Don't care what those fancy monks in their monasteries say, faith isn't something you write down, it's something you do. A living thing, right alongside you in every town and village from here to Wolfenburg and beyond. Law too, I reckon."

That might be the crudest possible explanation of the living law doctrine you have ever heard, but you can't deny it rings at least a little true. The true strength of any faith lies in the heart of the people who practise it, after all, and the law is born from the teachings of the faith.

But really, I'm pretty sure all these options are going to address Markus's doubts and Corruption points, so I wouldn't worry too much about one of them being "wrong"
For me it just comes down to Seclusion sounding less interesting to read about than Slumming or Society

[X] Society

I like the idea of drinking brandy and smoking halfling pipes in the fancy-schmancy clubs where Bruner can semi-relax as among social peers and equals, and hearing of all the news and gossip bubbling up with the Mutant Edict of how like literally every noble house had a cousin whose sixth finger they had surgically removed or whose red eyes they hid behind an iron mask or whose ambiguously mutant and/or neurodivergent 'eccentricity' had them locked inside the inner courtyard and upper chambers of the family estate, imprisoned away from the world. Really giving Markus an eye-opener on how like the magically gifted all sorts of non-Chaos people are oppressed and marginalized and worse.
