I doubt it'll be that easy, but getting a better understanding of WTF is even going on with all these survey actions is at least a start.
 
You know the setting is bleak when the developers cite Mad God and the Second Renaissance from the Animatrix as just a few examples of influence. As I mentioned over at Spacebattles, the tone, and aesthetic of The Forever Winter are immaculate.

Like, I bet this started as a sarcastic joke.

And then other people jump on board because they don't want to die and the algorithm just learned that Actual Literal Worship is a valid data point, so anyone not worshipping Europa even sarcastically got a massive relative loyalty value drop, and then after generations it's not a joke, it's not a tongue-in-cheek "we're doing this for more food", it's legitimate worship because that's what they, their parents, their grandparents, and their great-grandparents were taught, and it's what they're teaching their children and their grandchildren.

If this is the ??? that LA had, then that's actually very intriguing as a potential opportunity, because we suddenly have insane tools for directing and leveraging our human population.
 
We are however, also kinda insane! And everyone is following different rules, such as when the European technician followed ai rules in order to purge us for being suspicious. So, who knows how calmly all of that is going to react to us attempting to untangle everything.

And yeah, probally some form of facial recognition going on here, where if you don't smile, the ai might go "Well, clearly you are unhappy. If you are unhappy you have treasonous thoughts, time for a purge". Or something along those lines. Smile, cause your life depends on it.

If it helps the war get won then the system will be with us, and that technician probably does that multiple times a hour as well considering the amount of data decay of multiple systems of multiple types of multiple levels of capability and intelligence are working together in a Frankenstein mess.
 
One thing I can imagine that our conscripts will need is better AT and crowd control weapons with the mechs and zombie hordes about.

Is it bad that I want the AI Dice to go all in to Purge Malware to make sure there's no hidden shenanigans left? There's gotta be a reason why there are four thresholds to the task for it in particular after all. :X

An interesting hting that we haven't seen yet is algospeak. Because sometimes you need to say something that the AI doesn't like. For example, the AI is designed to avoid production losses, therefore penalize problems, but you still need to report those problems. So you need an ever changing, ever altering list of negative terms, each replaced as the AI figures out it's meaning and associates the term with the negative thing.
 
Oh, that's a youch on the power grid and resource production. We ended up getting both the night shift and enclave done though. So, what this open up is going to be really interesting. Since we'll know of problem, but have no idea on the power and resource situation in order to fix those problems.
