So for immunity locations, our home obviously. I actually think we shouldnt bother with Dumvalds farm. He lives close to us and can come say hi if he wants. I think we should pick either place near Godi Sterki or Modolfr, and somewhere in a major trade hub in order to buy and sell stuff we need

[x] Return home to the farm, taking all due precautions, and inform Bestla of what has occurred and see if she has any ideas of why or how to resolve the situation

[X] Modolfr's place

Picking Modolfr house as one of the safe spaces is so ballsy.
So I'm saying our house, Modolfr's and either someplace in town or somewhere on the other side of Iceland to exploit traveling laws.

We should pick the Godi's home so we can talk to him.

Surely we can talk to him here? I'd imagine the Godi would be much more willing to talk to us here than Modolfr will be, and we kinda need to talk to them both.

Well, given that trading with outlaws is illegal, I'm not sure how useful the trade hub will be. Also, why are we choosing Modolfr's place, when he was the prosecutor against us?

For the first, it's a place to meet and talk with people, which is useful. For the second, I think the plan is to go get answers out of him, possibly at swordpoint.

I'm not entirely sold on the second, personally.

Outlawry and You: An Informational PSA
So, you've been outlawed. Things are about to get very difficult for you; but, if you're a lesser outlaw, things aren't quite so bad. If you are a full outlaw, then I'm sorry but this will not help you.

Immunity
What is immunity when it comes to being an outlaw? Immunity means that, should you be killed while under immunity, your kin can demand weregild for your death. This weregild is usually much greater than normal, as not only are you killing a man, you are also breaking his immunity to do so.

Legal Status
In order to enter any sort of deal with another person, you must have some level of legal status in society. An outlaw does not have any level of legal status, because they are outside the law.

In practice, this means that you cannot engage in business such as trade or other exchanges of money, not legally anyhow.

Note: For a lesser outlaw, this legal status ban does not apply when arranging passage away from Iceland. A full outlaw will likely need to make an arrangement through a proxy.

Interpersonal Interactions
Interacting with other people has become significantly harder. A man can face a lesser outlawing for giving food, shelter, or other aid to an outlaw. Women are not able to be outlawed, making them a sort of gray area for interaction. Her husband, father, or other kin may be outlawed in her place, however, or some fine may be levied upon her for the breaking of the law.

Also, I've added a bounty tracker to your character sheet. This bounty tracker is only updated when Barki learns of increases.

Real quick, do you ride Olfossa or do you go on foot?

As Olfossa is Dumvald's property, riding him would make it appear as if Dumvald is giving you aid. Because he would be.

Dumvald, as a wealthy landowner and a high status member of the community, would not be outlawed for this. He would still pay a fine, however, and that may irritate him, though it is unlikely given your strong friendship.

What's the difference in journey time? Like...how much longer would it take to get back sans horse?

Unlike when we were trying to get to the Thing in time, Barki doesn't have a huge reason to rush back home. Until he avoids any fights he doesnt need to tackle, I think he could sneak back to his home. I don't think we should sacrifice Dumvald's good will on this since I think we'll need it later.

It depends heavily on the timing...if it's a three day trip without the horse, we need to take the horse so we can be the one to tell her. If it's 6 hours rather than 3 without the horse, that's not as big a deal.

And we're unlikely to lose his goodwill for this, per IF. He could take offense but very likely will not.

I would say use the horse. Sucks for Dumvald, but the world just became a much more dangerous and scary place. Road-immunity just protects from wergild. We still have a rich and powerful enemy.

It'll take about 3 or 4 or so hours on horseback, 7 or 8 on foot. That is, of course, if you forgo sleeping.

Including sleeping will bump the time up to about 9-ish hours on horseback, 14-ish on foot.

We probably head back before sleeping either way...it's been a long day, but we have cultivator endurance, we should be fine for one long day.

I honestly dunno on whether we use the horse...I lean towards yes, but I'm not positive and there doesn't seem to be a consensus among other people. Is there some possibility of asking Dumvald, or would that make things even worse for him?

Sillier, more mythic version - ask the horse if it will help us. :V

(In theory, there's some rules-lawyery that could be done here if the horse chooses rather than Dumvald, but I'm not sure how this would play out. It would be funny though.)
