Semper Ad Meliora (Code Geass/Britannian Royalty Quest)

yeah and because its during the middle of the week many will be far to busy to read the massive amount of posts in the thread, eg i missed the entire moratium and a lot of the early voting and discussion period because i was either asleep or at work

and honestly with how close the vote is it might make sense to extend the voting period for a bit to see if the result might not change to a truly compromise plan
Yeah, that might be honestly a better idea if the vote seems to be tight. @Slayer Anderson, how do you feel about extending the vote if the knife-fight between the top spot seems to be still ongoing later on?
Probably to late for it but I'll throw my own plan into the mix as well.

[ ]Plan: Humanities Interest

-[ ] The Empress' Hand in Marriage.

-[ ] A Place in Her Administration.

-[ ] The Taklamakan Desert Research Grant & Small Political/Trade Favors (For Charles).
-[ ] A Formal Non-Aggression Treaty & Defensive Treaty Between the Federation & Britannia.
Missing X in the brackets. Also, the gap between the name and the options might cause them to be counted separately, though not sure on that part I admit.

Adding the newest Stewardship + Marry Lihua plans to my votes. I don't care if we are the first or second husband. I really want to give Lelouch a chance to shine in a large leadership position with Stewardship and think Piety will be an action sink which we won't have the willpower to follow through to make it work (the same sacrifices as getting the 3rd Intrigue action at least in my opinion will be required). As to the other options in the leading plans I don't have strong feelings and I think we can work with any combination of choices in the last two positions.

Other than extraction, the least important of my picks, I'm really not getting what I want. Quite the opposite. Piety Admin + Treaty is a dangerous combo that will spread us thin in the medium term when it comes to security on our Psionic facilities while increasing the pace and possibly scope of Anti-Psionic attacks.

I feel we'll be able to work past initial rocky start, particularly with how high we are starting either way and if we are contributing to Lihua's aspirations of bettering her peoples lives by overseeing her Stewardship efforts. Half the process will simply be a function of fulfilling the obligation part of the stewardship minister process to unexpected levels of success.

I still think first husband status is a bad idea given Lihua's preference. Plus I don't think the locals will appreciate a foreigner being first husband over the local war hero.

On a different note, had an idea another omake involving Thunstone to try and get us some research actions we can do in the future. I didn't want to initially mention it for fear of unduly effecting the vote but after some careful thought I realized it doesn't matter which plan wins ultimately since I don't know how Slayer might rule on its canon status. But anyway one of Thunstones little adventures involved him dealing with swords from around these parts.

A later part of the story clarifies the namesake sword is not actually Arabian but actually from some group of mystics in the Himalayas which shares its name with an ethnic group in China.

I feel like Randino Treviani hilariously stabbed himself in the foot by putting first consort that it would have had a more confortable lead if he had put second consort. I'm also against first consort because I feel we had enough action sink like that and we can let Lihua with Xingke one year or two then when we have shown our competency to help her people as stewardship advisor then we could take some actions with her. I feel just we have already too much to do to add the responsabilities of first consort whatever they are.

But I am surprised so many are focused on piety when plans with second consort position and stewardship exist. That duel is not that important and we can build labs for research rather than focus personnaly on it, building a nation is cooler than mindbending to me.

i think you are too optimistic here cause there is a reason why letting xingke going first was part of the path to blank check and not letting him will have a steeper price than you can imagine
Yes, but that take on the situation was back before the over 2 dozen 100 rolled that followed. By the time we sat down in front of Lihua it's a bit out of date.

I don't think it'll be that steep. We'd have gotten a bit more of a warning otherwise. It's a rough start, a sour note in a relationship of one person doing an extraordinary amount to help a complete stranger and succeeding vastly beyond anyone's expectations.

Lastly, as slayer has said before, following the Guide puts us in the best possible circumstances with Lihua, but comes at cost elsewhere. I think Lihua has come out of this sitting fairly pretty, and it's all but confirmed that we've accomplished things well beyond what we were expected too when slayer gave his page 600 Guide, so we can deviate from the script without too much loss.

Lastly the wedding shouldn't be all we consider in this vote. That combination of Piety and Treaty is going to see our security stretched thin and potentially overrun when we have facilities in both China and Australia to cover as well as new Caledonia.

There is factually a majority that quite simply wants to marry Lihua instead of Meihua, a decent portion of which prefers stewardship, but are hesitating over the order in which we Marry her that sufficiently that it is still in quest whether we will Marry her at all. Were these people to just let go of that preference for specifically marrying Lihua second,b rather than focusing on marrying Lihua at all, Plan A Better China could easily pull ahead of by a good ten or more votes and we'd be ensured of success.

As for the backup options, I'm voting for them. Have been for over 24 hours, because I'm perfectly fine with Marrying her second and made a plan fewer than 5 hours after I posted the first one, because I got over my preference for marrying her first an hour after waking up, gyiven it's the marrying her that all and avoiding compromising the security of Lelouch and his Retinue thats important.

The closest of alternatives are still more than a dozen votes short of the lead, compared to Plan A Better China's handful of votes behind. There are enough people paying attention to easily put it in the lead over the none Lihua Marriage option and the Piety options, if only they could get over the difference between first and second, as I have. Let's not let ¼ of a plan impede us from supporting our preferred ¾ of it, and maybe we can secure the marriage many of us want, but are oddly and unnecessarily divided over the specifics of.

Well I am going drop the Left Hand of the Empress Plan...

I went to sleep literally 45 minutes after posting the vote and had an second marriage alternative out half an hour after I woke up from barely 3½ hours of sleep. Maybe I'd have shot myself in the foot less if we had a longer or shorter delay and I'd been able to change the vote when it still hadn't already secured more than a dozen vote and been barely in third.

Forgive me for underestimating how absolutely bonkers people would get over the difference between first and second despite being particularly insistent on marrying her over her cousin. I compromised more than a day ago, have been pushing almost the entire time except for another nap for plans which marry her and have stewardship regardless of whether there a second or first consort

Frankly, it feels a Little unfair to expect me to predict how my plan would end up just short of everyones favorite plan because of one small difference. I expected it to sink or swim, not barely stay afloat for 30 hours. I made a reasonable plan the majority of the voters like ⅞ of, and have been very reasonable about being willing to support alternative votes that favor a different marriage.

It seems it's everyone else's peculiar insistence on marrying Lihua no matter what, but not as first consort, that's the unreasonable element of this dilemma keeping the possibility of not marrying Lihua a possible reality. as well as keeping us just a few votes short of a stewardship minister position and more Jaeger tech.

I've done all I can for more than a day. It's in everyone elses hands now, though I will continue to advocate for the sensibility of securing the marriage with stewardship minister by voting for Plan A Better China and similar options. It's all I can do at this point.

i dont think the crits matter all that much because from my reading of the situation marrying xingke as her first consort is the secret win condition for lihua with all other steps of the guide leading us up to the chance
so making her loose her golden ending is going to cost us far in excess to the gains

EDIT: and that feels to me like preparing everything for the new haven final duel, and making sure we cant loose no matter what, and then in the last moment decide to call in the chinese fleet and flatten the entire faction instead of doing the duel and reaping the rewards

i doubt we will ever have our forces strechted across three facilities, instead merging two of them into one
and given that we are likely going to build the "ninja schools" in the coming turn we are likely able to manage with the duties if a bit tight

and i repeat it once again for you:

becoming the first consort is a deal breaker for me while becoming piety advisor is not
just like you are willing to compromise on the consort position but are absolutely unwilling to compromise on the stewardship advisor position

in the end its all a matter of priorities and which parts one is willing to compromise on

I'm willing to compromise on both the position and the marriage order, as long as we get a position and marry Lihua. And while I prefer Stewardship (and Intrigue) over piety, the leading plan does at least has Second husband, so I'm more than ok with it.
Also the leading plan also has the favours for Charles, and with that our favourite uncle V.V, thats also a huge plus in my book

Well, you can always tag your voters and ask if they are ok with switching the marriage option...
I'm pretty sure Multi-tagging is fairly frowned upon especially in double digits, and almost two thirds of them have been around since the alternative was posted. We could ask Slayer anderson to make a threadmark to draw everyone's attention perhaps? Thoughts?

We need her secret win condition after obliterating all projections of possible success in chinese invasion and reward negotiations?

I feel like Slayer anderson would have been clearer on how bad it is going to be in that case. Instead of reading "Marry Lihua Second" It would read "Under no circumstance should you marry Lihua first" much like it warned us against killing the body double or letting others kill the body double.

That still has thriving psionic communities and facilities across two continents with hundreds of potential entrances to the country. The final interlude of year ten paints a pretty clear image of the costs of letting yourself be spread to thin with commitments across multiple continents.

Not everyone is going to be suited to be a ninja, and even less may have the psionic talent required. Our ninja school is planned to stop the bleeding of talent. It's not going to instantly be a massive boost to available security ninja. As Sayoko once said, to be Shinobi is a lifestyle. The academy finishes in three years and probably takes at least half a decade before we could expect an increase in our projected shinobi force.

I guess we just see those actions as of different importance. Marrying a girl first or second. committing to establishing a chinese psionic ministry possible from from scratch while dividing our security and potentially endangering Lelouch and his retinue, or taking a position which has Lelouch directly involved in helping Lihua pursue her aspirations of bettering her peoples lives and using China's wealth and resources to build up our Australian kingdom.
Really @Randino Treviani edit your Marriage option and you are extremely likely to win by default...
This is more frowned upon, and I remember a good couple of voters who are voting for it because they want the 1st consort. Further more, I think a few of them are voting for the full plan rather than just [ ] Plan A Better China part, so I'd probably lose a few.

It could work, so I don´t see why not try it...
I wouldn't be against this vote being extended and/or there being a threadmark by Slayer Anderson thrown in to ping everyone, but this is obviously wholly dependent on Slayer himself being okay with it.

Completely agreed. Once the vote is already ongoing, with this number of voters changing it will mean almost certainly that at least a couple of people won't notice. For editing plans while the vote is ongoing to be feasible in a fair way requires a somewhat small amount of voters and extreme dedication to following the thread from everyone.

we "need" it for the same reasons we plan to do the duel for the new heaven leadership instead of calling a chinese fleet on their asses
those being that the rewards are worth it and not because we cant get it in another way

eg i wouldnt put it outside the realm of possibility that lihua might grant us some of the other reward options out of sheer gratitude for being able to marry xingke first and also being much more tolerating of us using chinas ressources for our pet projects
I guess we just see those actions as of different importance.
thats the point...

Left hand of Empress pretty much wastes this golden opportunity. Access to desert stuff is important to Charles but whether or not he'll feel sufficiently grateful to give us something interesting is questionable.

The treaty is truly bizarre because right now nobody wants a big war and there is no threat of it that would require a defensive treaty. Even if there were, it would still be doing Emperor's /Schneizel's work for them without a direct benefit to us.

Finally, not only is Piety admin redundant with upcoming Australia cult, but it would also monofocus us on a niche sphere that might, at best, pay off in the far future. With Australia and anything else being left on the wayside while we are dealing with psionic bs.

On top of that, all those options synergise poorly with our/Euphemia's position in Britannia as most people don't care about piety. On the other hand Stewardship/resource options will possibly allow us to lure allies among Britannian elite.

Remember how useful Stadtfeld lord was? And how important Britannian support base will be /if Euphemia goes for the throne?

If Cornelia handles Russia, Schneizel EU and we Asia, then we need someone to bring in Britannia. Certainly Euphemia would be preferable to Guinevere - Odysseus combo.

It could work, so I don´t see why not try it...
It could work, it could not, and the voters in favor of Meihua marriage instead would certainly raise a stink about it following the vote closing. Believe me, I wish this silly debacle over the order in which we marry a girl we are sharing with another man regardless had a simple solution, and I'll try the reasonable alternative.

@Slayer Anderson would you mind making a threadmark showing the leading votes to draw attention back to the thread?

Boy. Marriage specifics sure are a hassle when people get obstinate about them.
eg i wouldnt put it outside the realm of possibility that lihua might grant us some of the other reward options out of sheer gratitude for being able to marry xingke first and also being much more tolerating of us using chinas ressources for our pet projects
This seems a bit optimistic. I'm pretty sure the greater rewards are just higher SL unlock, and less responsibilities. Resolving India problems, several turns worth of effort and multiple actions, gets us extra medium level rewards. Just marrying second isn't comparable.
Left hand of Empress pretty much wastes this golden opportunity. Access to desert stuff is important to Charles but whether or not he'll feel sufficiently grateful to give us something interesting is questionable.
More questionable is his ability to spare the manpower to aid us in an appreciable way. He just lost OSI operatives and Directorate members to a Praetorian attack, and now he has a new sight to secure, while the Praetorians are ramping up their efforts. rewards will be a long time coming if they come before we've invalidated them.
If Cornelia handles Russia, Schneizel EU and we Asia, then we need someone to bring in Britannia. Certainly Euphemia would be preferable to Guinevere - Odysseus combo
Even if we don't want Euphemia on the throne for some reason, stealing Guinevere's support base to keep her from ending up in charge is at least worthwhile considering her grudges against us. Fun to.

The treaty is truly bizarre because right now nobody wants a big war and there is no threat of it that would require a defensive treaty. Even if there were, it would still be doing Emperor's /Schneizel's work for them without a direct benefit to us.
To pull attention to what Slayer has said about it, to the following question:
4. What are the geopolitical implications for making a formal treaty between China/Britannia? I think it's worth an infopost so we can fully weigh the decision, like what Lelouch/Schneizel thinks of the second order consequences.
4) Japan and Europe would be the primary detractors from such a treaty. Granted, as its not a full Alliance, it would just be a worrying sign of things to come rather than cause for full alarm. The impact would be extremely complex, but...

Well, if there's ever a time to do it, it's now. In the wake of a major terror attack on Britannia and general world-wide worry about escalation and violence, a defensive treaty like this would actually be a good thing to settle a bunch of nerves. In terms of second-order effects, you can expect Europa to start actively courting the African Unions and creating a larger camp for themselves through that. It will also likely push actions against Britannia into more covert realms than they already are.
Basically, it most likely would have the effect of cooling things down on the global stage, at least when it comes to over actions. And I assume that we very much don't want an all-out war between Britannia and Europe currently.

It might settle things short term, but it will escalate shadow war as well as alliance building. It will basically be a prelude to irl World War I where countries made "defensive" alliances, which spooked other countries into making alliances of their own, people got more and more paranoid until eventually we got a Great War. Similarly here, de-escalation short term will just lead to even more extreme long term consequences.
