Semper Ad Meliora (Code Geass/Britannian Royalty Quest)

Out of curiosity what is the noble ranking hierarchy for this quest? Princes and Princesses and their knights are probably in their own hierarchies but what is the order of Brittanian nobility... simplified of course because I imagine there can be exception to everyone of these titles. I also doubt it's straight feudalism, and since it's Britannia probably fiendishly complicated

Emperor > King > Viceroy/Grand Duke > Duke > Count/Lord > Baron/Lord Mayor > Citizens > Numbers

is my guess.
Viscount and Earl are in there somewhere, too, I think.

Edit: yeah, modern English peerage is Duke>Marquess>Earl>Viscount>Baron.

These are the known canon ranks:
  • Grand Duke
  • Duke
  • Marquess
  • Earl
  • Viscount
  • Baron
I have no idea how SlayerAnderson has adopted these for his quest. Just Viceroy is not a noble rank but an official position similar to governor.

I know Slayer's mentioned lordships which implies Lords are around Where were Marquess though?
It was later on revived in the British empire as a rank between Duke and Count, more comingly it was known before as marcher lord or margrave. Earl and Count were by the way the same rank, but that goes back to William the Conqueror who treated them as being the same rank even though earl, coming from the old jarl, was actually higher. Many British nobles retained some pride in this rank and staunchly argued that they outranked every continental count.

[X] Boot Camp: Although Jeanne isn't quite comfortable enough to begin socializing with you as an equal, she is willing to impart some lessons in physical training. There is, of course, the possibility that you could manage to get her to relax a bit in the meantime. Possibly even in your company. Cost: 50; Upkeep: 0; DC: 40; Rewards: Jeane SL Progresses, Possible Martial trait.

[X] SCIENCE!: Aside from his rather convoluted and... insane records, you honestly know little about Dr. Kenshin Jaegar and less about his assistant. You should perhaps fix that. After all, if it turns out you can trust the man, you might be able to broach the topic of certain secrets with him later. Cost: 50; Upkeep: 0; DC: 20; Rewards: Kenshin's SL Progresses, low chance of Learning or Piety trait.

Gotta say that I'm really enjoying this quest! Was a little concerned when I saw Lelouch was chosen as the MC but now I'm actually liking the current direction he's taking!

[X] Red Queen: Kallen is obviously an extremely talented knightmare devicer. Perhaps you could introduce her to your mother and sister, both of whom share that trait. In all likelihood, they'll hit it off splendidly. Cost: 0; Upkeep: 0; DC: 30/60/90; Rewards: Kallen's SL Progresses, Chance of Nunnally's SL progressing, Slight Chance of Jeanne's SL Progressing.

Inserted tally: Red Queen is the clear winner with, Euphie edging out Boot Camp by a narrow margin.

[X] The Ashford Heiress: It's been quite some time since you really spoke to Reuben Ashford at length. Perhaps you should make some effort this year, especially if you intend to 'borrow' Milly for an extended period at some point in the future. @Slayer Anderson
A question: what sort of psionic abilities are known/demonstrated in this setting?
Pre/post cognition, minor TK, danger sense, empathy/telepathy etc?
I'll do a write up of psychic stuff later on, remind me if I forget.
…so the Club is essentially worthless. We are never going to waste an Intrigue option on making contacts. There will always be vastly better things to do with those slots.

If you want the Club to actually provide some meaningful benefit have it give a Diplomacy action that uses Intrigue. Thus allowing us to have one less action of our weak stat and one more with our strong stat.
Let it never be said that I can't take criticism, although you could phrase it more helpfully. I'll consider the point, though, and may make a change in implementation.
No option for Shinozaki Sayoko :(
In that case anyone but Hannes is fine.
I have a Personal action planned for next year involving Kallen and Sayoko giving you a tour of important Japanese historical/cultural sites as a kind of vacation.
@Slayer Anderson I know some qm are a little bit more rigorous about votes. Currently, 5 or 6 questers voted for Euphemia, but made a mistake. Probably copied from someone. Do you still count such votes or will they have to change to the correct wording?
Given the fixed options, I'll usually adjust the tally. I only become a stickler for exactness on voting when people do five different write-ins that are all subtly different in their five-paragraph instructions.

To that end a tally - Since I'm busy and the runner-up is still in a reasonable contest, I think I'll leave things open for another six hours and look in on the vote at that point.

While Sister2 are tempting, Jeanne needs some love too.

Where did superscript go?

You'll take some time to look in on her, and maybe take Nunnally with you. Cost: 100; Upkeep: 0; DC: 20/40; Rewards: Euphemia's SL Progresses, Chance of Nunnally's SL Progressing.

I'm a bit curious too. I know most Psionic talents are minor, it was mentioned that being able to make something float for a few seconds was impressive enough to make us one of the stronger known Psionic users (emphasis on known). But I kinda want to know what the endgame might look like. XCOM Psionics? Mass Effect Biotics, replacing Eezo with Sakuradite?
I can't see the ME route since these are psychic powers with a somewhat broader range of potential effects then what Biotics can do (though there is overlap). It largely depends on how compact Jaegar can make the psi-equipment. Because while it is noted in the guy's talents he can't use psionics he's been able to figure out how to replicate the effects (or enable people to perform them) through the aid of technology.
Sufficiently Analyzed: +10 Piety. Although the traditional path to psychic power is closed to you, through intense study you have bridged the gap with sheer skill and knowledge.

In terms of 'super-KMFs' I see two improvements via this technology.
1: Man-machine-interface. Think the neuro-helmat from BT but for every aspect of piloting the KMF. As a result the piot would be manipulating the Knightmare much as if it was thier own body. This eliminates the inevitable latency (no matter how small) of using physical controls (pilot sees threat -> moves controls -> Knightmare moves). It would also allow much finer manipulations that are rather hard to program; and would potentially make it easier for the rank and file to pull the more advanced manuvers since they are essentially moving their own body instead of 'riding' the Knightmare frame.

2. Psyker Knightmares. Here there would be psionic enhancer equipment added to the knightmare that either allows the pilot to use said abilities or strengthen pre-existing ones. Forming TK shields to block attacks or enhance your own. See where the enemy is or what they will do. Mess with the enemy's perception (Phantom 'Mech phenomenon) or induce emotional effects. The list goes on.

A random question popped into my mind after reading the segment on Imperial Social Services (very informative by the way, good job Slayer).

Culturally, how different are Euro-Brittanians to "Homeland" Brittanians? Are they completely identical or do Euro-Britannians still have some traits/customs of the old cultures that were (possibly still are) present in Siberia?

One that I've already touched on is that Euro-Britannians still have have a bias against women in positions of power, particularly military and government.

EB has picked up a few Britannian habits, but they're largely their own thing culturally. That's typically why they're referred to as 'half-foreign.'
Is there a grand duke in Euro Britannia like in Akito the exiled? Or is there some other system of governance?
A Britannian-approved Grand Duke, yes, along with the Knight of Two ride herd on EB nobility usually, but they're trying hard to buck Britannian rule and taking back St. Petersberg would allow them to crown a new Tsar to formally become their own nation again.

It was a minor clause they agreed to back when they thought the war was going to be over in a few years, but has left them somewhat leaderless and open to influence by the Britannian throne.

Well there are some indication that the 'Homelanders" consider the Euros slightly behind the times in at least some matters as seen by Jeanne's backstory when we were hiring her.
Jeanne Rowe is of good breeding, has attended an accelerated year of officer school, passed with flying colors, and demonstrated nothing but loyalty to the Empire and its ideals. At fifteen, she is the very picture of a prodigy in the making and has purportedly attempted enlistment in several of the Knightly Orders located near the Ural border of Euro-Britannia and the EU state of the Rus Republic, all of which have a stated mission of taking back the western reaches of their homeland from the invaders who have occupied it. Were she to be accepted, she would no doubt win honor and glory among her fellows, likely advancing quickly among the ranks to a position of influence.

Save for the fact that she is a woman. Regrettably, Euro-Britannians have not quite advanced to the enlightened state of sexual equality which Britannia has attained. As such, her applications have been hung up on account of various 'paperwork errors.' Its a topic of some small discussion among certain progressive members of the imperial court, if only to note how Euro-Britannians have a ways to go before they reach the stature of true Britannians. She would likely jump at the chance to serve a royal, even a half-commoner one. The court would likely consider it fitting, too, given she is effectively half-foreign.
Though the Brits are far from flaw free as Romano's traits show:
Immigrant: -4 Diplomacy, +3 Learning. While you are relatively new to the country, the exposure to many languages and cultures has broadened your mind and allowed you to become more intelligent.
IE they tend to have issues with people that don't match up to their culture and will look down on them to varying degrees.

Not sure what the policy is behind suggesting things still new to sufficient velocity and questing. Just a warning in case someone is offended.

Speaking of the Knights of Round are there empty positions among the twelve seats of the Round or is the entire thing usually filled? Or is it going to be like the anime and only a few of the knights of Round are going to appear so it will seem like there is always some empty seats?
One last question. Seeing as Bismarck is the Knight of One and Marianne used to be knight of Six (Or is she still the knight of six it never explicitly states that she is retired) is Lelouch at least acquainted with Bismarck or any other knights of Round? Just thinking it is a possibility that if Semper Ad canon would provide an avenue to introduce them in the story.
