Semper Ad Meliora (Code Geass/Britannian Royalty Quest)

@Randino Treviani It seems an old version of your plan is being voted for, picking the Australia support option >_<
This is the least valuable reward out of all them since we can already conquer Australia ourselves and can easily gain support from negotiations.

Btw @Muramasa @Shaper47 there are two versions of a plan with the same name "Plan Alliance without Imperial Marriage" just as an fyi.
Ugh. Well I voted for the version I liked. I'm not sure how to actually fix that issue on my end.

[X] Plan: Imperial Alliance & Mutual Benefits
-[X] The Empress' Hand in Marriage.
--[X] As Second Husband.
-[X] A Place in Her Administration.
--[X] Stewardship
-[X] A Formal Non-Aggression Treaty & Defensive Treaty Between the Federation & Britannia.
-[X] Psionic Recruitment & Research Foundation on Chinese Soil.

[X] Plan: Left Hand of the Empress
[X] Plan Alliance without Imperial Marriage

[X] Accept. Kallen may return to Japan and spend this year at her leisure.

I'm just gonna pick this one and not touch it again.

I'm open to any plan that grants the marriage to the empress, it is why started this whole thing in the first place

Honestly a defense agreement with Britannia and the Federation would help Lulu's older brother's plan of being Europe's hero.
[X] Plan A Better China

Frankly don't care about the guide and its "Optimization" were gonna Rizz the Empress regardless. Besides just cause its not optimal doesn't mean its not better in another way. This is after all still a narrative and not a full actual game.

Additionally a treaty means if even one Pirate fires on either a Chinese holding or a Britannian one which is extremely likely given the Children's attempts on India then we can call on a massive combined Chinese and Britannia fleet to bomb the crap out of the pirates…it also kind of forces the bloods to bend the knee as they literally lose their political backing in one stroke. And furthermore combined with taking the husband role to Lihua (Second since it's the one that gives us her favor) it also ensures Japan won't try anything when Kallen goes to visit her family.
This is the biggest selling point of any plans with the formal treaty reward for me, in one stroke it undercuts piracy and solves the geopolitical tension between Britannia and China in the (South) East Asia, since most nations in the Federation are nervous about Britannia's encroachment into the area iirc. Japan is now cornered between two allied nations so it'll be forced to tone down their irrational behavior.

Approval voting, because while I'm not completely sure about the plan use the resource extraction rights for going for the Taklamakan Desert and the Thought Elevator? Second Husband + Piety Administration will still give us a pretty good shot for it, regardless if things will work as Zrayz10 is planning or not when it comes to this particular issue.

And besides, the main benefit to having access to eezo will make developing psionic infrastructure (and basically printing money) much, much easier.

[X] Plan: Left Hand of the Empress
[X] Plan Backdoor to Everything
[X] Accept. Kallen may return to Japan and spend this year at her leisure.

I would also point out that a combination of marriage plus piety gives us two ways to sneak our ninjas into the federation as either our bodyguards or as advisors and that the piety option gives us a higher chance of getting to examine the elevator and it basically gives us a bigger reach than just a research facility. A government position means we can use government resources to draw as many psionic related things throughout the whole federation to us as possible legitimately and lets us go wherever we want. Wheras a research facility by itself is arguably more limited in its reach. It's more of a personal project than a government backed action in the eyes of the public. Its basically "that guy whose married the empress wants to research psychic stuff" in the case of the research facility vs "Lihua and the government has a vested interest in researching psychic stuff" with the advisor option.

You're missing an 's' on Mutual Benefit(s) if you want to edit your vote btw - it's counted separately in the vote tally currently due to the typo.

Ironically the main argument against First Consort or the imperial marriage has been for narrative reasons, that it would be a political marriage with shallow emotional basis in favor of benefits/optimization and it would make Lihua happier if we didn't marry/gun for the top spot.

Honestly a defense agreement with Britannia and the Federation would help Lulu's older brother's plan of being Europe's hero.
A plan that is most likely outdated. Since we dropped a gigantic bombshell of new information on him.
Still, as you walk through the halls of the palace, he claps you on your shoulder and you still for a moment under his gaze. "Before we go further, Lelouch... I wanted to thank you. You've... made me reconsider some things. I am afraid I won't have time for the meetings we had planned this year. It... seems I need to account for some gaps in my knowledge."

A defense aggrement will have the following negative consequences:
1. It will inflame tensions with Japan even more
2. It might cause EU based groups to try and destabilize the situation even more

And combine it with a Piety advisor option (since we are known to do research in psionics) it is practically a guarantee that a certain anti psionic EU based group will try their hand at causing trouble. Similar how they inflamed tensions in Africa.
The EU will be happy to destabilize at least one of the alliance members and so soon after a civil war China is vulnerable. An official defensive alliance might also push the EU for closer ties with the Blood which will make taking them over without starting a major diplomatic incident difficult.
Japan is now cornered between two allied nations so it'll be forced to tone down their irrational behavior.
You want to corner a politician who in canon wanted to go for a "fight to the last man" resistance before his son killed him? He is more likely to form an alliance with the EU and become a base for their black ops to destabilize China.
There is also the danger that when the relations deteriorate and the Japanese will look at cutting off the payments from "Many Hands, Light Work (Turn 6 Phase 2)" they will discover what we did and we will have to deal with a heavy international incident where they can string us up.

The Piety Ministry also has the most latitude and potential - it's a blank slate with the most freedom for Lelouch to build from the ground up in any way he wants - his own version of the Geass Directorate within China. Whereas the Stewardship Ministry will have a lot more obligations and oversight because Lihua will need a ton of attention to restore China's economy/industry from 19th-century levels after the Eunuch's mismanagement and scorched earth policy.

The same arguments about India becoming 'All Work, Not Very Fun/Rewarding' applies to Stewardship as well, we'll have a lot more resources but the main currency, namely our time/AP will be a lot more restricted.

I feel like this gets us a lot of stuff we already want, without adding (too much) more to our super overfilled action hell.

I like the place in the administration but I could also see replacing it with Australia. Besides, I do like the idea that princess gets to marry her prince (Xingke)

As a bonus we should get a fairly decent SL start out of this!

Edit: do we really want to fight with our sister over woman anyways? Jkjk

I have a feeling...this is going to be the most contested vote in this quest for a long while.

Honestly it's kinda tough...I kinda want to go something with the First Husband option so we can stop worrying about min-maxing cause that's frankly getting a bit irritating for me, plus I want to interact with Lihua more.

On the other hand...I really want Australia.

You do realize that the EU won't be able to help them right? Anyone from the EU would have to either go through Britannian or Chinese airspace or sail through Indonesia which is a part of the Federation. Which means we could easily enforce a blockade. Plus what help could they offer them anyway? The EU only has power armor, their Knightmare equivalent are junk and they have no psychics. We could tear them apart or easily blockade their asses. Plus Japan has a vested interest to not piss us off due to the Knightmare development agreement. And besides in canon the reason they stood up to Britannia was they had an exclusive monopoly on Sakuradite and thought the Federation would back them up…which turned out to not be true anyway but that's irrelevant. The point is In this timeline they don't even have the ability to consider that an option.

I mean, letting the EU out themselves as the main terrorist sponsor of the world and become Enemy #1 counts as a win in my book. The EU/Japan won't be able to meaningfully contest such a major alliance between two superpowers when they're half a world apart, the black ops would only serve to boost the alliance's legitimacy/necessity. The politician who went "fight to the last man" was a suicidal move in canon provoking Britannia alone, this time it's two superpowers that would smack them down like a red-headed stepchild. Let Japan become a hypocrite if they resort to covert terrorist plots, that'll be grounds for an intervention except this time we'll have ninjas.

"Payments from Japan" is a funny joke when we're about to hit the infinite money glitch (China). They're in no position to cry victim about Lelouch's ninjas after their failed coup attempt on Lihua either.

It may not actually net us everything, but the pitch convinced me to jump on-board.

Edit: Also, approval-voting for this because it is almost the same and covers the important parts

Its politics.
For the Blood just the appearance of EU support will make a peaceful take over impossible as there will be a strong anti Britannian sentiment. Support doesn't even have to be realistic.
Japan might turn into the next Rus Republic if we push Genbu to much. They will lose a war but there will still be a war.
"Payments from Japan" is a funny joke when we're about to hit the infinite money glitch (China).
You missed my point. Every time we revealed what we did with the ninjas the other person (Euphy, Kaguya) explained that it was a diplomatic landmine. Cutting off the funding combined with investigations into it will reveal our crimes.
You remember the rule of Britannian royal politics "you can take risks as long as you win/get away with it"? If the Japanese publish our breaches of international law the Charles will have to punish us and it will most likely splash on Euphy and Nunnally. Since they should have known according to our enemies.
The same way you are ok EU outing themselves as sponsor of terrorists, they are ok with us being an international criminal who breached diplomatic treaties.

Don't view it as min-maxing for benefits, look at it from the narrative perspective where Lelouch already has a ton of commitments and baggage - does he want to add more to the plate and burden the relationship with Lihua in that way? Is a political marriage in such conditions truly ripe for a promising romance?

We have Australia in the bag even without picking it as a reward here - we just acquired a medium-sized faction (the Crowns) by default, we'll be meeting Governors of Area 8/9 for extra help, the Indonesians are keen on joint military operations for anti-piracy, and Lihua mentioned that sparing a few Chinese fleets is a breeze for her if we ask her outside of this. All of that combined with Lelouch's own mercenaries = rapid conquest of all but the Big 3 Pirate factions.

Except in this case Genbu has divided his country in half against his faction, and is totally infiltrated by Lelouch's ninjas. There won't be a war, there will be a swift coup as he is toppled from power between all the instability, ninjas, political/diplomatic censure, and threat of military domination between two superpowers... You know, like what happened in canon but even worse?

And Euphy/Kaguya/Charles have been informed and made necessary preparations in case of discovery, so we already have contingencies for that. My other point is that Japan doesn't have much of a leg to stand on crying about diplomatic breaches after they tried to coup Lihua and we caught them red-handed with the captured Eunuchs. Just call them liars and false allegations.

I like the Plan A better China the best but I am against going for the first husband position when the QM said in an OOC question we should leave the first position for the general, so a slight variation of the original Lulu's position as second husband

I don't think players really grasp the implications of the Stewardship Ministry - despite the greater resources, the sheer workload and oversight involved will probably make it a net loss for Lelouch as he gets bogged down with China's recovery instead of focusing on his own psionic projects and conquest/development of Australia. We're still limited to 2-3 actions per turn so there is a very real risk of being stretched even thinner as Lihua requests more of our attention on China AND Federation politics.

When you combine that with the social commitments involved as the First Consort... it really becomes not worth it for Lelouch personally. At that point he should just abandon the Space Race as he'll only find time in the far future. "A Better China" is indeed apt, with the caveat "At the cost of Lelouch's personal goals"..
