"<…No," was all Sfira could say at first, "<It's just the Rosethorn Clan was one of the few times a Clan was sentenced to being a lower caste, for having once led a rebellion.>"
"Hah, I like them already," Koyomi said.
"What about Zinnias, are they okay?" Vasilisa was quick to ask.
"<Yes, Zinnias are okay,>" Sfira said only so helpfully, but even that made Vasilisa sigh with relief.
"So, if the Dandelionhearts can be reborn into a 'higher caste' for sacrifice, is that what the Resurrection is then?" Miyako asked, putting two and two together. "That all the dead Hanazakari are going to come back as flower-people?"
Koyomi went cold hearing that, and even Vasilisa looked a little queasy.
"<I… can't say,>" Sfira did say, "<When our war with Frost Fair began so long ago, in defence it was decreed that no other peoples could be reborn as Pathragadan.>"
"Infiltration through reincarnation, huh. Now there's a story," Reiji said, then sighed. "Though if Hanazakari Resurrection were possible, it still isn't resurrection for everyone else who died in the war," with Miyako taking it he meant his brother.
Sfira resumed, "<However, now that's the war's over, it's possible that's been lifted, but I'm…>"
"Not high caste enough to know?" Koyomi took it, with Sfira nodding.
Very interesting if there's actual reincarnation.
Also, awful actions by the government and societal inequality, huh? Lots of those in this fic. Should've expected the Pathragadans to have issues, too. Guess Dandelionhearts, like WallFlower said, were dissatisfied and decided on their own to give the powers to the minorities.
Also. Sfira grabbed a ship out of curiostiy and wanderlust, and comes from a powerful and likely stuffy civilization. Her ship getting stuck as a vase is close enough to a police box I guess.
"A Bad Seed is a person who does one of the five worst things ever," Freesia said, holding out her fingers. "There's unaliving your daddy, unaliving your mommy, unaliving a Dandelionheart," Koyomi tensed up hearing that one, "hurting the Nice Lady, and making all of us Hanazakari mad at each other. Once we beat all the Bad Seeds, only then does the Nice Lady bring all our friends come back."
"One last thing about Kamizono's followers," Palmira said, "She's been seen leading some who look weirdly like folks who previously committed suicide. Maybe coincidence, maybe something more. Like she's getting 'em to feign it to cut off ties with their old life, so I'd guess."
She dealt with the guilt by dissociating from the person she was, and now hides that behind so many masks that she's largely forgotten what it feels like to not be playing a role 24/7.
There is no Hibiki. There was, but she had her surgically removed.
[X] "Tokyo Summerland? It's really reopened? Wow, it would've closed before I was even born." Keep the conversation moving, distract from the sudden appearance.

Yep, there's definitely some of The Doctor's backstory in there, though Ax from Animorphs was just as much an inspiration if not more. There's also another, more subconscious than intended inspiration, though it's a bit of a spoiler for where you're up to.
... Why is there "submit vore and reply" here? I didn't vote at all
"Tokyo Summerland?" Miyako spoke up. "They said the place used to be the greatest, er, before the Frost Fair came. Ooh, can I go?"
She spoke up a bit too much there, as Koyomi, Hachiro, and Shiori now all noticed her. As Emi shrank back and Kazuya stood there pondering what to do, Miyako was left going, "Eheh, I can explain!"
There are some things we'd rather not have anyone submit to this thread.

Oh, very cool. At first, cybermen didn't interest me, but then that Twelfth doctor special came. This just makes me more interested. Fascinating story of medicine and desperation for survival going wrong.
By the way, you might like the DW audio play Spare Parts, since it's considered possibly the best ever Cybermen story. Helps that it's free on Spotify:
That's intended as part of the joke. Tatsuya Endo (the Spy×Family guy) is a pretty well-known mangaka, but he's no Akira Toriyama. It would be very silly to judge someone for not recognizing that name.

Ah, guess the reason I got confused is that he isn't listed on the Wikipedia page for the surname Endo. Which may or may not add to the joke.
In other news, the summer uni courses I'm taking so far are a little more heavygoing than usual, since they have to cram more into fewer weeks. The update rate shouldn't slow down too much, but a heads up just in case
Been leaving the vote open for longer than I meant to, will be closing pretty soon.
But in the meantime, I've been getting together a thread specifically for that SV Original Magical Girl Crossover I've been talking about. We're already discussing new takes on Fool Bloom's worldbuilding (mostly Pathragada) that'll probably be crossover-exclusive:
As I've noticed there's a ton of Original Magical Girl works on SV, I've been thinking about what one big crossover between at least a few if not al of them could look like. I've brought this up on multiple threads, so I thought it'd be easier to have a single thread dedicated to this crossover...

[X] "Hi, I'm Miyako, this is Kazuya-kun, and you'd be Shiori-san. Nice to meet you!" Introductions are always nice, and this one gave Emi time to slip away if RUNE really did have their eye on her.

Miyako went on babbling about Tokyo Summerland, in part to distract from the whole 'sneaking up on a RUNE official' thing, Hachiro had to intervene.
"Whoa, let's calm down there," he smiled at her, lowering his hands, "Let's not forget it's Arisugawa-san who is the birthday girl, after all." Such language got him a glare from Koyomi again. "But don't worry, I included a couple of spare tickets, so she could certainly invite you along."
Koyomi was going to say that she'd just give Miyako all the tickets in that case, but then thought otherwise. No, if this is some RUNE plot, or if Blue Lotus is anywhere near that park, I can't leave her on her own. Sheesh, some days I don't know if I could leave her on her own in a place like that without anything afoot.
"Oh right, I should probably introduce you to my daughter," Hachiro said as he ushered Shiori out, "Shiori, this is Nozawa Miyako and Kai Kazuya, they're an aspiring reporter and wealthy scion who came to visit me at work one day."
"To simplify," Koyomi hissed out.
"It is most pleasant to meet you, I am Ogami-Ueno Shiori," she said, even adding a curtsey. "My father told me, well they both told me, that they were giving Kuramazov a birthday present. And since I've read all her books, I simply had to tag along for a chance to meet her!"
Though Miyako may have smiled back, said smile couldn't help but twitch. "Wow, that sure is something. I knew her first as a Hanazakari," she said, as her having read only a single Kuramazov book, and that was debatable, was again hammered into her head. But she still went on with, "It's nice to meet you, Shiori-chan, I read lots of books too." Hey, books with pictures still count!
"Though I'd much prefer to be known as an author," Koyomi had to say. Even though one of the first things she'd told Miyako, thinking she had read her books, was 'Alright, let's get this over with'. "Since there's no international author association breathing down my neck," she added, again to Hachiro's face.
Kazuya had just been standing there since his introduction, with one foot leaning slightly back like part of him was still in flight mode. But then he brought himself to bow and say, "I am not the best with introductions. Emotions are, as they say, not my forte. But yes, I am Kai Kazuya, it is good to meet you. I, er, have gathered it would be rude to ask about your covered face?"
Wait, did Hachiro-san not tell Shiori-chan about Kazuya-kun's Heart Leech? Miyako thought. It made an eerie sense though, with Kazuya having been a Frost Pawn who RUNE had done nothing to help.
"Likewise," Shiori said back to him, "though I most hope I've been eloquent in greeting you so far," as 'eloquent' as her speech patterns were. "As for my, er, appearance, I… have this really nasty blemish on that side of my face, that's all," she spoke quicker than usual.
That just left Emi, who Miyako had been too quick to hope that Hachiro wouldn't notice, and whom Koyomi immediately took a stance over.
"That's Daimon Emi, she's no concern of yours," Koyomi was quick to say as she strode from her door to stand between Hachiro and Emi. I don't even want to know what RUNE would make of her Cultivar.
"Alright, alright, didn't mean to impose," Hachiro said, but then said, "Though it would only be fair if you gave her a chance to speak for itself." Emi currently being a crouching position, her mouth mostly trapped in mumbling, made clear that wasn't about to happen.
"Daimon Emi-sama. I've heard that name before, but can't quite place where," Shiori said, finger on her cheek.
Had she not stopped in time, Miyako would've blurted out, 'Ooh, she's a mangaka. Silver Cloudcast, Shin Dragon-Slaying High School Diary Epsilon, c'mon you know her!' But then she remembered everything about, well, everything Emi had been through, and thought not. "She's, ah, one of Arisugawa-sama's friends. Puts herself down a lot, but she really shouldn't, she's so much better than that," she settled for instead, throwing in an attempt at cheering up in there too, but Emi's expression didn't change.
If RUNE did already know of her Cultivar through the Earthly Purified, that info didn't seem to have been in Hachiro's division. So that was one less thing to worry about, for now.
"I see. And must admit, Arisugawa-san isn't always the most uplifting person. But anything," Hachiro said, then turned to face the 'not most uplifting person' and held out his hand, "Here's the tickets as promised. You may even see Shiori and I there at Summerland, we'll be helping Mikoto out with catering. Well, hope to see you there."
"Of course you'd give me tickets to where you were already working," Koyomi said, though her attitude made barely a dent in Hachiro by now.
"Au revoir, Kuramazov-sama. It was most incredibly fortunate to meet you!" Shiori said and waved, clutching her book of Koyomi's even tighter.
"Bye, Shiori-chan, nice meeting you too!" Miyako called back, with Kazuya trying to mimic her wave. Though a guilty Miyako still tried to not look at that book as Shiori left.
The moment Hachiro and Shiori were out of sight, or seemed to be, Koyomi handed all the tickets to Miyako. "You heard me. They can't get me with it being in what's left of Tokyo, I am not the amusement park type. So if I think Blue Lotus is gonna be there or anything, I'll just sneak in, suits my Cultivar fine," she said.
But then Miyako handed a ticket right back to her and said, "Really, Arisugawa-sama, you deserve to go and have fun. You've been through heaps lately; you've earned the right to have fun for once. Hmhm, though of course I'll take a ticket myself," she grinned.
"Er, thanks, but you would've heard me. I mean, I wouldn't mind seeing Tokyo again, but an amusement park isn't really my idea of fun," Koyomi said. But as Miyako kept looking at her with pleading eyes, Koyomi went, "Alright fine, but don't think I won't be tempted to just sneak past the lines anyway."
That got Miyako thinking. "I suppose Sfira could just sneak in with illusions, or even speed in, then. No, that's not right. I don't know how their human-imitating is coming along, and they're new to Earth, we shouldn't be teaching them to break the rules," she said.
"Not if the rule isn't worth following," Koyomi said with a shrug. That made Miyako wince a little, though she still nodded.
"Also, er, please don't tell him I said this, but it's probably not best to invite Hayato-kun," Miyako then said. "If Daimon-sama got him acting all jealous, I'm kinda nervous about how he'd react to Shiori-chan. And given what he's into, amusement parks probably aren't his scene. Ooh, we could show Higashi-sama that we can hang out together fine… but she's probably busy," she sighed.
"If it helps lighten your load, as they say, I assume I could ask Ryoichi for tickets, they'd be little expense," Kazuya said. "And amusement parks are supposed to be good at drumming up emotions, well, so I hear."
This made Miyako picture Ryoichi losing it at the idea of Kazuya wanting a job at an amusement park, but he surely wouldn't take it that way, right?
"I… really can't accept. I'm not worth it all," Emi said, which made Miyako grab her by the shoulders immediately.
"Don't say that, Daimon-sama. Like I said, you only think you're not worth it because people kept saying you weren't. Just like Arisugawa-sama, you've more than earned a break," Miyako told her.
Emi nodded in response, and even tried to smile, but couldn't manage any words.
"And that leaves Reiji," Kazuya said. Well, that also left Maimi, but she was a non-starter for obvious reasons. "Does he like amusement parks? I mean, I was his only friend for a while, so I should know… shouldn't I?" he muttered.
"Hey look, there's often heaps of things friends still don't know about each other, it's not like, er, an emotion thing," Miyako tried to put it. Since Koyomi was right there, she went with another example instead of not reading her books. "Like I mentioned I knew a guy called Sora in school, there was still heaps of things I didn't tell him." Like my gender. Or where I ran away to. Or that I was gonna run away at all. "Knowing Reiji-kun, if he does say no, it'll probably just be him getting all stubborn."
"Ah, naturally. And er, is him being stubborn good or bad?" Kazuya then went and asked.
Miyako had to shrug. "Depends on what he's stubborn about, I guess," she said.
"Alright, that all sorted then? Good, now could you get going?" Koyomi had to ask. "Well, except you Daimon, I didn't mean to shoo you away given your, well, living circumstances."
"Oh, thank you, Arisugawa-sama!" Emi said, but Koyomi still sighed.
"Just know I can handle the housework myself, alright?" Koyomi said, though Miyako had to smirk hearing that.
Afterwards, Miyako spent the rest of the day, or at least the rest of the day not taken up by shrinework, finding out anything she could about Tokyo Summerland online. Soon, she had a clear image of exactly what she wanted to do.
Hm, I'm looking at the hounted house and can't help but wonder if taking Kazuya there is a good, or horrible idea. I'm sure he'd appreciate at emotions, but there's also the potential of it not working out at all. Well, probably at least worth a try.
Talking about bad ideas though, the Frost decade exhibit looks like such a horrible idea.
And that partially because the idea of Miyako taking "herself" somewhere just brought mirror images to mind and in part because it feels bad not to have anything with Koyomi at all.
P.S. Where's the Reiji and Ryoichi option so we can have them square off for our amusement at the duelling Arena, huh? Definetly a serious suggestion.
So about the SV Original MG Crossover, the current proposition (for the first project) is that each series, on top of the main character, can also include up to four 'companion characters'. Mascots potentially get a free ride since they're usually attached to their MGs, but that's not a concern for FB for obvious reasons.
Koyomi and Miyako are obviously musts, but I was wondering who the readers here would also like to see? I'd say Kazuya and Emi are definitely candidates, though can't imagine people being that enthused about Palmira or Vasilisa.
We haven't worked whether villains contribute to the character count separately yet, so it's possible either Blue Lotus, Yumemi, or Kamizono could also get a 'free ride'

Miyako, Sfira, Vasilisa are the mascot character so they get a free ride and I think the magical man you know the dog one technically counts as a villain so he can come along
Er, I think you mean Sfira instead of Vasilisa, right?
Anyway, looks like everyone's voted for different options. That's not too much of an issue given multiple votes are allowed for this one, but a tiebreaker could help give things a bit more direction

"Happy birthday, Arisugawa-sama!" Miyako said as she ran, jumped up and hugged an unsuspecting Koyomi at the train station.
"Ergh, punctual as ever, Nozawa," Koyomi muttered as she squirmed her way out of her embrace. She then sighed, "To think I'm in my forties now…"
"Huh? I thought people were usually happier on their birthdays," Miyako said.
That left Koyomi chuckling. "You're only twenty. Trust me, one day you'll understand exactly how I feel right now," she said, though thought, or maybe not, given your track record.
Then she brought up, "My grandmother's hometown was Zelazowa Wola, a little west of Warsaw. My piano teacher back in school was obsessed with that fact since it was also Frederic Chopin's hometown. Heh, to think I've now outlived Chopin, Mozart and Mendelssohn too… while Higashi Tsukasa is the one now dead from tuberculosis," calling back to Asahi's husband and Hayato's father.
Any flame of celebration extinguished, Miyako nodded and was about to say 'I'm sorry' but knew Koyomi would just tell her something like that apologising would achieve nothing. So she shortened it to a simple, "Yeah, I see," before trying to find a silver lining with, "Wait, you took piano? I never knew that."
"Only because my parents made me," Koyomi said and shrugged, "Haven't touched the keys in years," snuffing out the birthday atmosphere again.
It was then Reiji and Emi arrived, the former dashing his way in while the latter dawdled up. "Kazuya and Ryoichi have already headed out, then?" Reiji asked first thing.
"Yep. Er, Ryoichi-kun kinda didn't see what the big deal was at first," Miyako said, "but when I told him you wanted to take Kazuya-kun to Tokyo Summerland, ooh boy, he was super-insistent on taking him first."
"Of course, as I'd expect of that cad," Reiji grumbled, fists shaking.
Emi having ultimately been convinced to come yesterday, she said, "I'm sorry, I don't want to ruin anyone's fun, but we might want to be on guard. Amusement parks and fairgrounds were a go-to recruitment spot for the Purified, so I'm really hoping they won't see me again."
"If they do, they'll have to go through me to get to you," Koyomi was swift to address, "Besides, we'd better all be on guard anyway, Purified or no. No matter how well-meaning Hachiro's invite was, he's still with RUNE."
Despite being fully aware of RUNE, what with her article and all, Miyako still thought, I know, I know… but does Arisugawa-sama still have to be this suspicious and on edge even on her birthday?
Sfira was last to arrive, having adopted the appearance of a sparkling, green-haired young man, dressed in what would've been expensive clothes were they not illusions. "<Ah, I've finally gotten down that form you were interested in, Miyako,>" they said but admitted, "<I do have more attachment to imitating Black Rose Koyomi though, she was the first human form I managed and all.>"
Regardless, Miyako still squealed then ran up and hugged Sfira. As their preference in form dawned on her though, she added, "Hey, that's okay, I just wanted to see if you could pull it off, that's all. Really, take whichever form you're happy with."
"And which saves us the most on special effects," Reiji couldn't help but say.
Hearing Sfira preferred copying her made Koyomi grimace, her wondering how much Sfira had really grown beyond their in-grown 'my clan are possessions' mentality if they still orbited around her. On the other, she had to ask, "About my 'form', did you ever get my hair colour right?"
"<Er, well it's closer in shade now,>" Sfira said.
Koyomi also thought to ask Sfira about imitating Chigusa. If that woman started trouble again, tricking her into thinking Sfira was but another of her clones would be quite handy. On the other, mentioning Chigusa at all right now could be a little too soon.
"Alright, train's a-waiting," Koyomi said instead.
The rows of houses that were Tokyo's outskirts may not've looked like much at first, especially compared to the colossal ice sepulchre that still entombed most of the city. But staring out the train window, Koyomi still couldn't help but tear up a little.
Miyako was about to ask her about her hometown, like which Ward she was from or what it was like living there, but backed down. The look on Koyomi's face said it all really.
Stepping off the train, Miyako immediately clutched her arms and rapidly rubbed them. She'd been told it'd be cold, what with all the ice obviously, but there was cold and then there was cold.
She gazed up to the shimmering Summerland gates, a cartoon sun plastered right above them. Were she quicker to anger, she would've felt that sun was mocking her. The queue in front would've frozen anyone's spirits again anyway, leaving no doubt Koyomi would instead use her darkness to get in.
"<I take it would the people up front would be like higher castes, right?>" Sfira then said, "<Pathragadans are usually all let in at once to those areas, our roots letting us check multiple of us off simultaneously. Higher castes get priority of course, and maybe some lower castes if they're in the possession of the high.>"
Wincing as that part of Pathragadan society was brought up again, Miyako said, "Well, fast passes cost more, so I guess it's a little like that on Earth."
Luckily for them, Hachiro had shilled out for such a thing. As had someone else.
"So, you again?" Ryoichi spat out at Reiji, him and Kazuya among of the first people the group ran into once they were in. "Pay no attention to him, brother, you do not need him getting you a job as a carnie or something else humiliating."
"Carnie?!" Reiji spat back, then pointed, "Are you that one-note? I'd honestly say better a carnie than anything you could grant Kazuya!"
"Oh really? What about a stake in the entire park, hmm?" Ryoichi went ahead and spoke.
Given the distance from Hinodeharu to here, Miyako wouldn't have expected Reiji to try getting Kazuya a job at Summerland anyway. They could keep in touch online, but it wouldn't be the same.
Luckily, she'd come prepared for just this situation, as she pulled out a map of the park and pointed to a marked circle. "Hey, did ya know Tokyo Summerland's got its own duelling arena?" she advertised for free, "How about you two settle any scores you have there, okay?"
"Before I settle them for you," Koyomi muttered, looking down at the two.
Reiji lit up at the suggestion, as he announced, "Hah, you shall tremble and fall like the blackguard you are!"
Ryoichi on the other hand stared blankly then sighed. "Can't I just call a bodyguard in for this whole farce? Kazuya and I do have better things to be seeing to," he asked. "Alright, fine, if it'll shut you up."
"A duelling arena? Isn't this a theme park?" Emi had to ask.
"Oh, it's just gonna be like a Ren Faire joust, or paintball, or maybe they've got some VR thing going. Point is, can't be anything serious," Miyako tried to reassure her.
The whole deal duel still got barely a reaction out of Kazuya, unlikely as it was that any scuffle between Reiji and his brother over him could.
Sfira on the other hand was confused. "<You still have duels here on Earth? But I thought they'd been phased out?>" they asked.
"Er, like I said, nothing serious," came Miyako's gut response.
She may've had a map, but it wasn't until they started walking around that Miyako saw just how jam-packed the reopened Tokyo Summerland was, with both attractions and people and all the noise that came with them. Like most of the big parks, the rollercoasters that twisted throughout and the big gyro tower in the middle of it all were what first stood out. It was probably for the best that Koyomi be let nowhere near the rollercoasters, as Miyako couldn't picture someone as moody and on edge as her being their biggest fan.
The place was also covered in flowers, ones that usually blossomed in summer per the park's name. Well, or so Miyako assumed, most of what she knew about flowers being a side-effect of what she'd learned about Hanazakari.
"Summerland must've been huge back in the day," Miyako said, "if so many people came back here so quickly."
"Guess that's one way to positively spin these crowds," Koyomi sighed. "Yeah, it used to be a pretty big deal, kids in my class bragged about going, but I never went till now. Well, never went as a civilian, that is." Miyako's ears picked up at that, but Koyomi said no more.
Out of all the people in the park though, one suddenly made Miyako's hair stand on end. Not that he was otherwise that outstanding a person, looking like most Japanese boys his age with his mostly kempt black hair and white jacket, busying himself with a spiralling ice cream cone.
Still, Miyako took off into a makeshift alley between two tents. Koyomi following her, she asked, "Who is he? Did he do something to you? He must've, to make you run and hide like that."
"What? No, Sora's nice, he's never done anything to me. It's just," Miyako paused for breath as she tried to explain, "Yasuda Sora's my friend from school. Thing is, well, I never told him about running away or me being trans, he wouldn't know me as Miyako, and I've got no idea how he'd react to seeing me now. I'm sure he'd be okay, but… this stuff's really tough to predict. Summerland's a real popular place, so I guess it's no surprise. Look, I'm just nervous, really, really nervous."
"Whatever he may do to you," Koyomi then stated, "know I won't tolerate it."
Miyako gave a smile at that, yet wondered if Koyomi always had to assume the worst. Then again, wasn't that what she was now doing?
Article:
Miyako's plan for Sora now was to:
[ ] Reintroduce herself, hoping he'd take the news well.
[ ] Slowly reintroduce herself, gauging his feelings by asking him questions before she revealed who she really was.
[ ] Introduce herself anew as Miyako, without ever saying that she was the same person Sora once knew.
[ ] Leave any introduction for later, it didn't have to be right now. Then again, she had no idea when he'd be leaving the fair.
[ ] Have Koyomi or someone else gauge his attitude first.
[ ] Just pass him by. Hard as it was to accept, friends didn't need to remain friends forever.

I'm realising a problem here is I'm basing the vote around someone readers barely know aside from 'was Miyako's friend back in the day'. I was thinking it might be a good idea to write a short side-chapter flashback to when Miyako and Sora were in school together, if that would help with more detail
