Yep.
In the anime, the uzumaki clan captured death and put him in a mask.
As for the death route: it's what I call the route that offers the most experience but also leads to someone dying.

You looked towards Naruto and listened to him and Karin talk. There were trying to be safe, and alert, but after the massive chaotic situation that you had all fled from, it was nice to see Naruto relaxed and feeling… better. Sure he seemed a little jittery and looking around for seals that could potentially explode…
But what's a little bit of paranoia between friends and family?
"So wait, you like Ramen?" Karin asked as the bounding Naruto slurped on a cup from his stock.
"Yeah. Want some?" He asked, offering part of the cup. "Still warm."
"I don't think so. Don't you know that crap is bad for you, the salt alone will make you fat and bloated." She said with a huff.
"Do you know the life we live? I can literally eat ten of these and still burn through more calories than most civilians I know. I know people who are fat and lazy and don't burn through calories like that, and they need to be fat to do their jobs. Just as I need to remain fit to do mine. And guess what, I train so much that the cup of Ramen that I eat, will not matter."
Karin tried her best to retort. But instead, she just sighed. "But why ramen?"
Naruto smiled. "Let me tell you a story about a ramen chef who fed me after I was booted out from the other kids, and a restaurant that I tried to eat at."
"Are you just trying to ignore the chakra control exercises I'm trying to teach you?" Karin asked.
"Yes."
Reward: Naruto and Karin Bond… and Naruto's mental stability will improve after this mission.
Though his chakra control is still terrible.

You looked back and could not see the two.
That would have been strange, had it not been for the fact that they were falsifying trails, in addition to actually covering your tracks. Sure on a well-traveled, paved road like what you were traveling on, it was not necessary, but sometimes a little bit of a flair was needed.
And with Grass Blowing up… well that was needed greatly to keep any ninja that was off to follow you for revenge.
"I'm telling you, Hanzo can easily reshape the road to have a fork that will come back to main road, and it would delay any pursuit," Sasuke said as he pointed toward the map he was using. "Like this." He traced with his finger.
"Hanzo isn't really able to do something like that right now, considering that he is acting like a big baby because he didn't get ice cream and chocolate." Yakumo stated.
"I deserve so much after this bullshit mission, and you know it! Asking me to try and do more is just being abusive!" Hanzo shot back.
"We almost died in Grass. I am not dying because we weren't careful Hanzo." Yakumo shot back.
A moment passed before Hanzo blabberd. "Alright, just let me look at the damn map."
Well, those three were getting along famously.
Maybe they would cause entire squads to get lost?
Who knows?
It wasn't your problem anymore.
Reward: All enemy chase rolls will be negated, they are all lost, due to Yakumo and Sasuke's liberal changing of the terrain.

The clone was not amused. "Yes, because clearly, this entire mission is a job that needs to be done. We blew up a goddamn country while kidnapping a girl, this mission should be a cluster fuck and a half. What are we even doing here anymore?"
"We did not blow up a country, the pissed-off Uzumaki matron did covering our escape." You replied. "As for what we are doing? We are making sure that the kids are safe, and they still are."
"And what happens if they aren't safe? What happens if we continue to get unlucky?" He asked.

But then again, you passed over two hundred ninjas crossing the border into Grass to assist their allies there…
So they might have had other things going on.
But Sasuke and Yakumo covered your tracks well enough to where they didn't even detect you. They just thought you were refugees running like hell as far away from the insanity as possible.
Which in a way, you were.
