I don't really think the other biomes are all that conductive to land based mounted combat so I'm pretty much obliged to vote for this.

[X] power. So far from prying eyes, there is much that you can do to rise in strength. Cultivation is the one, true end all be all in the world and such an untapped land will have much by way of opportunities and challenges to help you and yours grow. Why, so far from prying eyes you might be able to dabble in arts less fair unnoticed.

Clan description/background: A small clan of alchemists who specialized in creating substances that were definitly not meant for consumption. Their enemies fabricated a slanderous story of them creating poisons to sell to assasins. Fortunately thanks to Zhao's quick wit they were able to deny the charges and escape to the frontier before any other misfortune struck.

Orders are followed much better if they are sent on your enemies' skin rather than paper.

Clan description/background: The Hsiung are a people of the frontier, having lived there since the empire's founding. A particularly widely traveled family, the homeland or origin of their clan has been lost to time. Though some elders claim an origin from dragons the lack of a mystical bloodlines puts much doubt to the claim. Nonetheless, this family is one that had made its wealth via its connections in the frontier and in the barbarian held lands along with a willingness to undertake risks to make new contacts within such dangerous lands.

While widely spread across the frontier they were rarely interested in the central provinces where they quite often found scorn as "bumpkins' or half-barbarians due to their connections. But even with that treatment, when the idea of a sect being created in the region was announced they were interested, investing in the project when it was originally founded and thus finding a stable position in the organization for their younger generations to be something greater than before.

    [X] The misty Isles. These isles are a chain of islands inundated with dream qi. Dreams and nightmares often come true here all too literally. Sometimes the dream realm may even manifest here in unpredictable ways. The island you sleep on may have not even been real and you will find yourself doused in the sea as it slips back into the dream.
    [X] The Evergreen (beat chance for alchemy materials and exotic herbs)

    [X] glory. You wish to become one of the great houses and earn your right to move to the capital. However the old housed are not easily contested with and it is difficult to make true accomplishments with so many greedy and practiced hands ready to pull the rug out from under you.
    [X] The Evergreen. The evergreen is a stretch of forest and land that has resisted all attempts to colonize it. Animals, spirits and humanoids that live here often find themselves irrovocably changed. Growing to unusual sizes, getting new limbs or even changing species entirely. All settlers have found themselves stumped between the ferocious wildlife, the wild barbarians, evil sects and even the land itself that resists civilization unto the end.
    [X] The Sky Piercing Blades. This mountain range is home to all sorts of sects and monsters both flying and otherwise. Cities carved into the mountains mine for gold with its dark caves. There is much to gain here, but a single slip can mean the end for even the most mighty of creatures as they are dashed against the mountainside.

I tend to lean towards research and crafting so waiting to see what the different options for those are as well as seeing what clans people make as we still have more stuff before clan votes matter.

Atm, we've got an alchemy clan or two, a clan for doctors, a clan focused on formationwork, my own clan of craftsmen, and a sect or two focused on architecture/fortifications.
 
Only a strong military will allow us to survive the wrath of the enemies the Ling Clan will be making!

Join the Ling Clan and help defend the sect!

The Ling Clan fights for fighting, speed and the right of all to have a dragon spouse/mount!



Patriarch @uri has sworn to deal with all paperwork himself, allowing for all of us Elders to focus on the important things in life! (Combat)

Family name: Ling

Clan focus: Military.

Clan Specialty: mounted combat/ secondary: beast rearing

Clan background: a large mortal tribe that has recently risen to prominences in the frontier, as mortals they surveyed the manifold dangers of their land by never staying long in one place preferring a nomadic lifestyle and the raising of beasts upon which they road into battle to plunder needed resources and defend their tribe both.

Swift riders and terrors on the battlefields members of this clan are supreme warriors and exalt in raising the beasts upon which they ride to battle.

Under patriarch Ling Wu they have subjugated many (mortal) towns into paying tribute and drove their competitors from prime hunting fields, becoming one of the larger (and wealthier) mortal tribes in the frontier, a fact which saw them receiving an invitation to join the newly funded sect.

Elder Ling Chen:
Many of the Ling Clan have tried to imprint respect and care for their beasts onto Chen, unsuccessfully. Ignoring all but her own mount, she instead plunged herself completely into the art of combat, always trying to get to the front of the battle to enjoy the fighting. Only one thing may be able to calm her heart for even a moment: A dragon to befriend, ride and love.

Elder Ling Yang/Ian:
Elder Yang comes from a distant tribe. He was brought into the empire as a slave, but retained the memories of his people. Many people laugh at the fact that he tries to look like a "barbarian" without even remembering his language.

Ian doesn't care. The only thing he cares about is speed. Life without a hitch at full gallop is insipid and useless. He is only interested in things that can increase his speed, as well as people with similar hobbies.

Elder Ling Luòtuó

Ling Luòtuó is an elder who was not born into the Ling clan but joined it later in life.
On the surface, he seems to be an only average talent as a cultivator but a genius in communicating and handling many animals.

in truth, there is a secret hidden in his origins.
For Luòtuó original form was that of an ordinary llama which one day had consumed a natural treasure in the form of a spirit fruit which allowed it to awaken a sliver of its ancestral bloodline as a (distant) descendant of the great heaven-striding void-spitting llama.

Gaining inteligence and transforming into a human form in one great stride Luòtuó had wandered the lands before encountering and joining the ling clan
