Time To Make Your Future! (Project Moon/Worm Quest)

You know, after thinking a bit, I just realized that there is a good reason why I am not trusting myself to make good decisions. I mean, why else my "good plan" idea would be "Let's just join the shrimp crew, what could go wrong?". Then again, quests and bad decision making go hand-in-hand.

[X] The boats are leaving, New Wave doesn't seem happy about this but they aren't trying to pursue the ships.
-[X] Sneak onto the ships! While you're not familiar with the situation of the poorer parts of Brockton, these people don't seem so bad. Hey, maybe you could offer to help them, or maybe even join as a member! Um, how are you sneaking onto the ships and helping/joining the sailors anyways?
--[X] Ask the voice for help? It gave you powers after all.

Names:
Shrimp Imp
Fisher Man
Sardine Queen
(If you want to keep their cannon innuendo naming sense) Clam Diver/Salty Spray/Sea Man/Cast-Iron Rod etc.
Aquaman
Large Barge
Drag Net
Captain Krill.

As for their group, they are obviously the Drunken Sailors.

Voting's Closed now but uh... It's a tie. Technically a three way tie if you merge the help people votes together. Do y'all want the votes to merge, a revote, or for me to roll a die?

-[X] Sneak onto the ships! These people are supposed to be criminals right? Even if they're not, sneaking on one of their ships to check could be a good idea… Um, how are you sneaking onto the ships anyways?
-[X] Ask the voice in your head for advice. (Cats are supposed to agile, no?)

[X] Before the boats have the chance to leave, New Wave attacks them. Now that a fight is breaking out, what do you do?
-[X] Try to help people caught in the crossfire, this place is kinda crowded and it would be easy for someone to fall over or get trapped under debris if the fight gets too bad… Um, how are you going to help people anyways?

Tiebreaker?

Oh, it's offishial, my vote won. Even if we don't get a good reaction from climbing their boat, we're a kid, that can get some shrimpathy from them. If everything goes right we won't be krilled.

The... There was a tie... and then someone voted for the new wave fight clean up option... I'm sorry... no boat climbing next story bit... maybe later?

I find it crazy Missy would even go into some random boat full of mutated strangers.
This happens before she gets canon powers, joins the Wards and becomes child soldier, also realizes she has power but can't do anything with it because child soldier, and then has to deal with feeling useless, and also parents in background, so she kinda loses most of her canon character from all the stress that was supposed to make her the Vista we know in Worm.

Right now she's kinda a lightly traumatized child at the moment chasing escapism from her family. In all honesty y'all keep picking votes to listen to the cat's voice and trusting it, so she's gonna stop questioning things after a while, and just leap without looking. Cool shrimp guys the cat said were totally wholesome and hardworking businessmen? And they wanna rebel against the heroes and gangs? Sure, I wanna join! Your votes kinda have some consequences.

True, I do hope we don't listen to the Cat all the time, she would lose agency following the Cat's options like a puppet.

It's your choice, always has been. Voting against the cat is almost always a valid option. If y'all really want things to go a certain way things will happen like that, so try to write votes with a bit more care (and detail, more detail is nice gives the story some direction).

The Quest Has Begun. You chose this battlefield, remember that.

Richard was, well… Not the best person. Sure he could have blamed it on his deadbeat dad, or his never present mother, or the gangs that were running this city into the ground. He never got good grades in school, hung out with some bad people with worse habits. He was the one who took that first hit and then kept coming back for more and more, stronger and stronger poisons. He was the one who had stopped trying so long ago, and then gave up once he got in too deep. After all, Richie knew what the prospects of a black man with a drug addiction in this city were like. But, despite it all, despite his complete lack of work ethic, his piss poor manners, even when he had spit and screamed and threw any help away, someone had believed in him.

Danny Hebert wasn't a very impressive looking man. Thin and slightly scrawny, with glasses just a touch too big, and a passive look on his face. But he had helped Richard, gave him a job even though Richie just wanted the money for some extra coke, got him help and counseling to try and cut back that craving when he found out instead of just kicking him out of the union, helped him back on his feet when he relapsed, time and time again when he couldn't handle it anymore.

Richard owed a lot to Danny. But the Union wasn't enough anymore. The Empire, the ABB, every petty little gang that had taken over the spaces in between them, they were ruining this place. What use was a Union when gangs were seizing control of businesses, forcing people to pay protection fees under threat of violence or worse, when there were more and more fights breaking out in the streets everyday as this city started to simmer and boil from the tension. Things were getting worse and someone had to fix it.
It had happened one day, lately there had been a few more jobs lost, but it was just another bad day, another bad week, another bad month. Danny hadn't been the same since his wife died, but the world didn't pause to give him time in his grief, and business had been getting worse. Companies trying to lower wages, skip corners in safety, laying off more and more workers. That day, Richard was at home, trying to fight off those tremors and aches, that craving, that voice in his head telling him that just one little baggie and everything would be better, exhausted but unable to sleep.

It had happened, when in a fit of delusion he looked out into the bay, dirty and cluttered, filled with old wreckage from better days. He had a brief fantasy of shining waters, sparkling clean with clear skies for miles around, not a single dirty building in sight, just clean roads and homes stretching out as far as the eye could see, of a happy place where food was plentiful, no gangs fighting out in the streets, and hard work was rewarded. A place where after a long day of work you could kick back and relax with an ice cold soda, and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

But a few blinks later, and that wonderful vision was gone. Such a place could never exist here after all. It wasn't fair, it wasn't fair, why, oh why couldn't it be true? In his despair, Richard heard a voice that whisked him away, and showed him that his dream could come true. And so, out of bed he lept and into the city streets away he ran, for he needed a crew and some extra hands to make this vision reality. He had gathered up some of the downtrodden and stepped on, some of his new friends in the union, and had found the love of his life in a fishing store. Sherrel had the most wonderful ideas, and together with his new crew they had rigged up and restored some of the wrecked ships in the Boat Graveyard.

Naturally this is where things started to go wrong. Danny and some of the Union folk had objected to their plan, calling it a gang and claiming that they couldn't just take those useless wrecked boats in the graveyard, some of those were still owned and that they were committing a crime, but who cares? They were going to make a difference, they were going to take back this city and a few silly laws weren't going to stop them! And naturally those "Heroes" showed up, because who gave a shit about the attacks in the street, the gunshots being fired at night, the cowering masses forced to bow and break under the pressure from those stupid gangs when honest folk like him were trying to make a difference? But fine, if they wanted to take his crew down then they shouldn't complain about getting clawed for their dumbassery. If ants could kill an elephant, then Richard could fuck up some privileged super powered family.

Missy flinches as several lasers hit the boats before they leave. Realizing that what used to be a standoff was now a cape fight, people began to scream and run, though several idiots were just standing there, recording the thing on their phones.

A loud bang screams out, and Missy stumbles, clutching her hands to her ears, head ringing. She stumbles to a nearby building and leans against it for support. The fight's getting worse, people were stampeding over each other, stepping on fallen bodies, and there's a small crater in the street.

Missy felt her heart speed up, people were getting hurt and she had to do something but... She was just a 10 year old girl, it was far more likely she'd just get trampled if she went out to help now. It was home all over again, there was nothing she could do, nothing that could make things better, trying to do anything just made things worse and-

Do you wish to help them, small one?

"Yes, please I-I need to-", Missy needed to do something, anything to prove that she wasn't helpless, that she could make a difference, anything.

Alright then, though I do suggest you get somewhere more hidden before I assist you.

Missy dashed into a nearby alleyway and felt a strange energy wrap around her.

She really did have superpowers after all! Actually, did all capes get an outfit along with their power? Questions needed to wait, there were people out there she needed to help!

Missy charged into the fray, ready to rescue people by…

Normal to Red, Endures White, Normal to Black, Vulnerable to Pale
Fatal to Blunt, Normal to Pierce, Resists Slash.
Missy's weapon deals White damage, Black when certain conditions are met. Needle is Pierce, Strings are Slash.
Dodge/Evade for defense.
Missy gets to fire out strings that can wrap around objects or be used to slash at things, and takes a bit of effort to break. She could use them to bind and wrap up people or things, or just fire them out like attacks. You could have her spider man swing around the city with a little effort.

Some backstory on this version of Skidmark. Since the fight and help vote won after a tie breaker, this is the result. Shrimpmark's crew now distrust the heroes more and New Wave might get got for some reckless endangerment charges or something, or at least some bad media for starting a fight with civilians nearby when things could have ended peacefully. I'm still struggling a bit with names for Shrimpmark and friends so y'all can still submit ideas for that if y'all want to. More detailed plans or votes are preferred, helps give me some direction on where I should take things. If you see any errors with the quest feel free to point them out.

Maybe we should beat up heroes, because they are doing something unheroic

They did start this fight when things could have ended peacefully. Its a valid option. Do keep in mind how this affects future interactions and such. The poor boat people got branded villains for fixing up some ships, the same could happen to you.

hmm.
light show needs to end but if we let the shrimps win...they might just kill them because abnos dont care about human lifes.
so what to do...
disable the big guns on both side maybe?

No abnormalities here physically, just in spirit. Shrimpmark doesn't want to get heat for killing any heroes, its just that the cannons were a bit stronger than anticipated.

So how resilient is the strings exactly? can a grown man break it? will we use them up?
do they move with our will or we have to throw them around?
are you going to tell us the conditions for black dmg or its a secret and we have to find out our self?

Both I guess. Resilient enough that a regular person can't break out normally, they'd need something sharp and then they'd have to spend some time sawing it off. Brutes are better at just snapping them in two though. Black dmg secret for now.

ok...
idk about our pull strength....but can we tie a string on the cannons pull them into the sea? or is that too much?

Not that strong. The cannons are secured tightly. You could maybe drag or fling people off the ship assuming they aren't too heavy or they aren't braced or holding onto something.

hmm.
ok, so.
im going with we distract the heros as much as possible for the shrimps to.do things since unless we can find a crate heavy enough for the cannon to be pulled into the sea, we can't shut off their big gun.
so we buy time for them to go away and come back later with more reasonable people around.

I'm not very knowledgeable about Worm but, if we get directly into the fight wouldn't this hero organization (protectorate) want to (forcefully?) recruit Missy? (Or brand her as a villainess I guess)
Isn't it better to try save as many people first in case something goes wrong? It would also give Missy good rep I believe.

I don't know these characters good enough, would they surely use the opportunity to escape or would they attack the capes now that they are at a disadvantage? Skidmark and his crew doesn't seem to like the heroes very much...
