Magical Girl Flesh Horror~!

Gonna have to disagree with the hypnosis, that's a hail-mary in the wrong kind of way.

[x] Convince her:
-[x] Swap *Tracker* for *Stalwart*
-[x] You know Sabrina did bad things. Sabrina knows she did bad things. That bad things were done is indisputable. Sabrina herself is a good person. Bad people don't stop running gangs when they hold power. Bad people don't try to help addicts. Bad people don't do their best to help naive, know-nothing magical girls. So you know what? We're one-and-one. Which means we have to go to motive: Did a good person do bad things for a good reason? I can use truthtelling magic to ensure she's being honest.
--[x] You can trust that I'll be honest because Sabrina won't be the person I know her to be if she lies.
-[x] And even aside from all that, she's been following our lead and helping us figure out how to help people. Penance- the idea that you work to do good because you realized you've been doing bad and feel remorse- isn't that a worthwhile idea? Isn't that something to strive for, that those that've done wrong can change and do good instead?

Iron Willed is a good one, but I think Stalwart is the better option in this case due to the connotations of how one is "stalwart in defense of something". Iron Willed seems better for resisting trauma and the like though.

Argument-wise it's clear we won't be able to convince this Magical Girl in this setting. So the next best option is to buy ourselves more time to shift appropriately and push our way into forcing an ad-hoc trial. The second argument hearkens back to our Immutable Aspect of Idealist, which should have synergy with Stalwart (stalwart in one's beliefs) for even more social resilience.

That's fair I was trying to grapple with the need for a defensive aspect/counter. Definitely could have gone wrong. I like stalwart though, that's good.

-[x] How many others are in the same situation?
-[x] You are working on healing the man. You know you can. With Sabrina's help you could help so many more. She knows how to find them, how to reach them, how to talk to them. Help them to not die in the same way.
-[x] If you think needs to be brought to justice, well what better then for her to help undoing the harm she has contributed too.
-[x] You can help provide assurances for a deal. You all can work together on this.

I mean, we're arguing with a magical girl, the concept which is kinda responsible for our birth and overall life goal, about not turning our friend into the cops. This is probably the most traumatic thing we've done in our short fleshy life outside visiting the theater.

Okay so looking at the plans, they could use some more detail. Part of the reason Patty came off better in this round of argument was that she legitimately had the better constructed argument specific examples and details.

Now thinking. Martin's case seems like it would actually puncture a good hole into Patty's argument. Martin is someone who's addiction is provably not Sabrina's fault. Had Sabrina not been around he would have had to use unsafer sources of drug and likely be dead by now. Now with Sabrina gone he will be in exactly the same position as the boy who died once he runs out.

So it should work on both a logical and an emotional level. The idea of someone else being in exactly the same situation, but with Sabrina being the savior rather then the disease. Plus it wasn't a single act of mercy by her to someone she cared about. It was a direct result of her policy and organisation. So it can't be dismissed as bad people still having those she cares about.

Yes the drugs are bad, but she was doing what she could do with the tools she had.

Also bring up that the gang that was around before was even worse.
She's searching your eyes as she talks, the words spilling out of her. "...I…look, I didn't necessarily think it was good, but I…it was good money. And I was doing a service for the community, in a way that nobody else was. I mean, when I was a teen, the Predators ran this place, and they were a fuckin' piece of work and a half-" You tilt your head. "Why'd you stop, then?"

And then once we have presented things better, I have an actual solution to offer too. They know someone who is in trouble because they have no safe supply of drugs. We know someone who is too. How many others are there?
We don't know, but you know who probably does? Sabrina.

So instead of telling them to let Sabrina go on vague promises of penance, how about instead a very specific bit of community service. Help us find all her old customers so that we can help them. We are very good at biology after all. We are already working on the problem for Martin. Finding a way to cure his addiction and undo the damage it has done won't take long. But the problem is bigger then just Martin no?

Let her sentence to be to undo the harm she has caused. They can help too if they want to come along and make sure it happens. And if they really need assurances, then we can facilitate a Pact. We have just the right keyword after all to provide such an assurance. It all fits together.

So to put it to a plan:

Much better odds of convincing her then just promising that Sabrina is a good person. It works on a logical level, and should punch her in the gut emotionally. Get her to see the bigger picture and not just the immediate problem, and then offer a solution that requires Sabrina staying (mostly) free.

Hmm. Thinking things over, string resistance might cause Patty to double down. Here's a bit of a change in tone that I think might work better:

The intent was not to resist her, it's to pretend to go in her direction and be outraged at Sabrina without saying it so as not to lie.

-[x] Swap *Tracker* for *Realpolitik*

Regardless of the rest of the vote (who may work), this term is horribly chosen, *Realpolitik* is not a positive term and used to mock those using it, better go for something else.

[x] Convince her:
-[x] Swap *Tracker* for *Hypnotic*
-[x] Patty should slow down and think about this for a second… just relax and watch us slowly sway as our nervousness melts into a gentle rhythm, back and forth as we both sink down into a calm, placid state of contemplation…
-[x] You're right Patty, Sabrina was a bad person, but that's in the past… I'm here now and I'll make sure she doesn't get up to any more shenanigans. You can trust me! Turning her in will just make things worse, and she won't be able to start to make up for the damage she did dead or in a cell. Vengeance won't bring him back… you should take me to her, and we can all discuss this further…

I fear that if she has any mental defenses, this was going to run right into them and crash.

Argument-wise it's clear we won't be able to convince this Magical Girl in this setting. So the next best option is to buy ourselves more time to shift appropriately and push our way into forcing an ad-hoc trial. Can agree, the plan seems to have some good ideas, would have voted for it as is but then:

Hmm. Wasn't aware of this? I was really trying to go for a one word descriptor of pragmatically/dispassionately looking at the material conditions, power dynamics etc involved in the situation and this popped out. Would have gone with historical materialism but that's two words.

Regardless, I think stalwart is a good word that covers a lot of bases, and the current version does what I was going for there but much much better.

I mean, that's how I saw it used myself, as a derogatory term for people who tends to go *hard men making hard decisions (while hard)*, a better term for what you were thinking would've been *Rational*, while I have a dislike of the term due to the use in some fics, the general meaning is about taking time to analyze things as objectively as possible.

*Utilitarian* could also sorta works but has some implications of being too dispassionate and full on *willing to sacrifice babies for the greater good (The Greater Good)*.

Regardless, I think stalwart is a good word that covers a lot of bases, and the current version does what I was going for there but much much better.

It does, and the implications of defense and justice from the heart in the term Stalwart really helps.

itd be great to go all "all guards r compost" and how the people theyd be handing slick over to are worse people than her/ hurt waay more people, but she things scarlet is naive and also has ideological investment.

not gonna vote, i just read quests.

But she wasn't though she was just angry talking about with half thought out points about how terrible Sabrina is because she kind of hates her for all we have seen we literally have no idea on her opinions on the guard

If anything I'd expect she wouldn't like the guard because they didn't stop Sabrina in the first place. And remember the whole magical girl movement is a response to the corrupt authority currently in power. And these magical girls in particular we saw take up their powers in the first place because they wanted to change things. That does not scream support the status quo guard to me.

tru tru, i read it that way because they are still handing criminals over to the justice system

and saying shit like gainful employment with 0 irony

Careful with that edge, you might cut yourself.

We have a very limited view of what the girl is like, so it's way too soon to make general statements like that, as for the part about the guards... that's also too general and incredibly counterproductive, there are definitely good persons amongst them, and attacking the guards won't change anything except make them more likely to attack back anyway, you want to change the highest level of government in these kind of cases, otherwise they'll just use your actions as excuses to make the laws worse.

They're teenagers that were hurt by criminal elements, of course they are going to trust the system more than the criminals, also, you are not taking into account that the place you live in shapes how you see the world, they come from a big school, they absolutely are going to learn to *love* (or at least tolerate) the government there, and you can't reproach them that, they don't have a choice, nor even a real idea of what an alternative could be.
