The exact mechanisms of reincarnation are opaque under current lore, and it's hard to say to what degree Prasadi notions of reincarnating Hearthmates are accurate, although my feeling is that it's closer to a cultural practice than a metaphysical truth. There isn't anything like persistent past life memories to tie things together really explicitly.

Oh. Maia's husbands hair really compliments her skin. I wonder if I can find Furs or dyes in that shade.

Lol. Ambraea's friends all come to her for marriage advice and she advices them based on which ones make her friends more attractive looking to her.

Gotta admit, really glad the Prasadi cousin showed up. This adventure is sounding fun.

To be honest, I'm voting for this both because I think closer ties with House V'neef will be more interesting down the line, but I also like L'nessa a lot.

I like the idea of building bonds with House V'neef and Ambraea having the tables turned on her by having to deal with another couple's indelicate affection. There could also be some amusing double date scenes. This would be a great way of showing that our characters are still teenagers in addition to Dragon-Blooded Heroes and high-ranking nobility.
 
As an alternative, here's how that first scene could have gone:

Maia speaks first, her words small and tentative: "I love you." It shouldn't mean so much after what you just shared. It still does, though.

"I love you too," you say, "no matter who you are, or what you've done."

She lifts her head a little, just enough to see your face, not enough to disturb your hand in her hair. "But, would you still love me if I were a worm?"

I enjoyed seeing Ambraea dealing with some parts of her dad's culture she doesn't normally see, looking forward to more of that

More seriously, obviously this isn't going to be their last argument, although this still sounds like a part of Ambraea will
regret rushing into teenage romance with a wetworks operative.

against her? I mean, yeah, sorcerers probably make a lot of people nervous, but wouldn't you rather your son be married to one than having your shit pushed in one day through a sorcerous attack you couldn't defend against?

Maybe patricians just don't look at this the same way a dynast would.

Being a sorcerer tends to hurt your marriage prospects a little, because people in the Realm are creeped out by sorcery as much as it's too useful for sorcerers not to have their own niche. Unless you're as powerful as the Empress or Mnemon, or you're a particularly gifted socialite, it tends to hurt your social status a bit. The other families involved could probably try and use it to get more concessions from Maia's family during marriage negotiations.

Ambraea's long term strategy is kind of to lean into that rather than away from it.
 
So, I'm actually kinda looking forward to having a wetworks operative on our side after graduation. But then, I want to make a play for the realm defense grid, so.... Not going to be clean or safe, staying in the center.

Both for the matchmaking and because the servant talk has me thinking she's a good influence. Dad's family are interesting but I'll admit to being more interested in Peony. Hoping we won't have to wait too long to hear what's going on there

Either her or Sola would be excellent, but I second the sentiment that L'nessa would round out the party well.

Amiti...I would never vote for her for this, but I love to imagine how it would go. The others would have to carefully plan their route to avoid graveyards, after the...minor lapse in judgement in the first village. But having so many new guards and porters is still very handy nonetheless!
