Magical Girl Flesh Horror~!

Intelligence is one of those things that are extremely difficult to emulate most of the time, the easiest way is to get more people working on it for more time, and the very format of quests already do that one, also, more *intelligent* Scarlet is not really precise enough, what kind of intelligence?

Social? Go for social words, and she's already learning on her own already.

Strategic? We are not at a state where it is really needed, and that is removing one of the ways the players are interacting with the quest if taken completely out of our hands because the plans are made automatically.

Political? We really don't need that, and please, no *cold and calculating* that is counterproductive, did you know that emotion actually are helpful and those without are notorious for having absolute shit long term planning abilities? (No fear means is just recklessness, no guilt tends to lead to not learning from mistakes, etc etc.)

Given that the quest is based around the players tests, I am not sure giving too much abilities to Scarlet to do the experimentation without our inputs is that good an idea either.

[x] Convince her.
-[x] Sabrina HAD done bad things.
-[x] But she was trying to be better.
-[x] She helped me when I was just getting started, has stopped running a gang, and...
-[x] She's helping me work against the Theater of Souls! A DASTARDLY EVIL that isn't just hurting people in the past, but hurting them now.
--[x] Explain all about the Theater of Souls, the harm they do, and the EMERGENCY MISSION that you took part in, and how Sabrina helped you with that.
-[x] Suggest that we can talk about what to do about Sabrina, but that there are also greater evils no matter what you think of her in the neighborhood/nearby.
-[x] Ask to hear her counterarguments/etc, try to make this a convo and not (JUST) a glorious speech and the evils you've been fighting.
Trust no one, not even your Flesh self.

Seems pretty IC for our little flesh horror, she likes Sabrina and she likes other Meguca

Act One - Second Emergency Part Two: Explain Yourself
"...Um. So. OK. Alright. Alright." You try to collect yourself, and Patty stops speaking to tilt her head at you. "I-She's-She's not that bad." You can see her eyebrows raise under the mask (Perceptive). She doesn't speak, so, maybe she's hearing you out (Cute, Likeable)? "She's definitely done bad things! But she's trying to be better, I promise. She, I was in…a not great place, and she helped me get out of it, and, uh, and she's stopped running a gang! She doesn't do that anymore. And, uh, uh, she's helping me-" That definitely damages your standing. It's like you can see yourself dropping in status in this girl's eyes (Perceptive).

"She's helping me try and defeat this really evil place in the Grey Zone! It, like, puts people's souls into projectors, and it's run by this really creepy dude." She's skeptical, but you think you're getting her onboard. "And she helped me scout it out and ran cover for me with the employees even when he was gonna try and kill me, or, well, sorta-kill me - It's magic stuff that's hard to explain! And she's not doing that stuff anymore! And, like, I get it, she was a bad person, but she's really trying to help now." Patty purses her lips, and you hastily add on. "But I, like, I want to hear your side, too! Please, I want to understand where you're coming from." She nods.

"Alright. I can see you're clearly coming at this from a place of naivety, so, I'll explain our point of view as calmly as I can." Her tone indicates this is something of a mercy she's extending to you, even if it's condescending (???). "Sabrina Slick, you are aware she led a gang called the Young Serpents, yes?" You nod, slowly. You didn't know the name, but you knew she led a gang. "That gang was not called young because of their youthful demeanor - She recruited young. Not children, but certainly teenagers. Her gang was, and to a certain extent, is a plague on Snapps. They were bullies, braggarts, and users of illegal substances, or at the very least, substances that they should not have been using at their age." Her tone is extremely authoritative, and you feel as if you can't get a word in edge-wise. (???) You…knew she said she recruited young people, but…it feels different when it's said like this.

"Not only that, but those members who graduated - or dropped out - from Snapps, rather than pursuing gainful employment or further education, turned into outright delinquents and criminals. They have been responsible for significant amounts of crime in the area, from robberies to assaults to, I have been told, a murder or two, in their squabbles with other gangs." You can almost feel yourself shrinking at that. "Well, I mean, it's not like-" She continues onwards, barreling forward. "And, to be clear, Sabrina Slick was their leader. She gave the marching orders. We know this, because we have the diary of one of her lieutenants who was formerly at our school - A drug dealer and a teenaged alcoholic. He is dead, now, because after she abandoned the gang, he didn't have a safe source for the drugs that he was hooked on because of her and her enabling of access to those substances." You're practically hunched in on yourself as she stares at you, unrelenting.

"He is dead. A nineteen year old boy, dead, because of her. And he is not alone. Her actions have caused immeasurable suffering across the district." She sees you quailing and relents somewhat. (Cute) "Even if she didn't know - And that's highly unlikely, her actions were still what allowed this to happen. Without her creating a flow of drugs into this part of the district, who knows how many people would not be suffering, now? Without her encouraging criminality and delinquency, who knows how many people would not be walking the streets in fear? Look. You've clearly been…influenced by her - And I'm sure even the worst people have their good sides, which they show to those who care about. But you have to understand, she's had an awful impact on the community. What you said, about that man and business? That is bad. But we don't have to ignore one injustice just because there's another, worse one, happening. I'm willing to promise, at the very least, my help in taking down that man who tried to kill you, and I'm sure the rest of the Alliance will happily agree to help."

You're…but…Sabrina…

You are in an EMERGENCY.

You have time to change one keyword.

Your Current Assets Are:

1x Super Spy (Faint Soul (Immutable), False Humanoid, Poison, Disguise, Fast, Tracker)

Patty, Mistress of the Skies, is currently unharmed and suspicious!

Your Current Immutable Core Keywords Are:

Magical Biohorror, Broadcaster, Immobile, and Idealist

Your Current Core Keywords Are (Bolded words are Biomass):

Cute, Pactmaker, Split, Perceptive, Likeable, Recorder, and Shield.

Capture Her

You…need to regain control over the situation. She's talking all this - All this nonsense because she's in a position of strength! She'll tell you the truth if you capture her.

Convince Her

You - There has to be a way you can resolve this, that'll convince her to let Sabrina go. You don't want to fight her, you understand why she's doing this, but. But. (...Is she wrong?)

Crash Your Brain

Have…you been…doing the wrong thing? No! No, Sabrina's your friend, shut up, shut up, shut up. You're - You just need a moment to process. You can do this. You just have to shut off your brain for a little bit, and you can approach this more rationally. It's turning from an asset into a liability, and I can't guarantee what you'll do if it keeps going. Let me take over, for now - I'm still You.

QM's Note: 12 hours of moratorium and 48 of voting!

That was worth trying but sounds like we can't negociate with her.

Maybe we should exchange Disguise in Super Spy for Artillery? that would have decent synergy with poison, fast and tracker and could work against someone able to fly.

Hmm. Artillery has connotations that are slow, powerful, and long ranged. Not sure it's the best choice when were up close.

I feel like trying to be convincing is probably not possible right now, but the other two options will likely result un us being labelled 'bad'. Loosing disguise could potentially ruin our reputation with these folks as well. I'm not sure that's a good idea? Would make things difficult for us at least.

Change tracker to something else maybe? Persuasive or obstinate maybe? I feel like she's totally convinced of her moral high ground here, and has something that reinforces that mechanically (the ???). Need something to undermine that specifically.

Well the counterpoint I would bring is that Sabrina said that a big part of why she did what she did was to push out the much worse gang that was here before. That combined with her apparent conflicts with neighboring gangs, and how she reacted about the possibility that Herman might "wrap his tendrils back in here" makes me think it was less a one off and more of an ongoing effort.

So the question I guess is, is if Sabrina was a driving force, or a moderating influence. I would point out the only reason why he had a safe access to the drugs was Sabrina, but that there were plenty of unsafe ways to get them. Both before and seemingly after her. Would less people be into drugs without Sabrina, or would more of them just died sooner? Hard to know.

Plus while Sabrina may not have done good, it sounds like she did the best she could with the tools she had.
At the very least even if we agree that Sabrina has done harm she needs to answer for we can still object to turning her over to the authorities. We haven't exactly had the best impression of them, even excluding the interludes the newspaper paints a poor image of them, and we know they have a ton of problems. (Like say, being infiltrated by the UMF. So who knows who else may be too.)

Unfortunately we probably won't be able to convince Patty much here. But rather then trying to fight or convince her, could we just bypass her? She gave us a hint earlier that her group had "captured her, and will soon be bringing her to the justice".
She nods slightly, completely confident in whatever answer she's about to give (Perceptive). "Of course! I should've known a fellow Magical Girl would've already been hunting the foul Sabrina Slick - But fear not, comrade. The Rooftop Alliance of Magical Girls has captured her, and will soon be bringing her to the justice she so richly deserves! For too long-" The rest of her ongoing speech is drowned out by the pounding in your ears. Uh oh. Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh, this is not good.

Them having captured her but not yet brought her to justice implies that they are holding her somewhere. Probably somewhere near. With perceptive and tracker could we just follow Patty's trail back where she came from until we find there? And with fast just do it too fast for Patty to catch.

Sadly we are kind of tight keyword wise. Not sure exactly what to swap out because swapping out any of our current keywords could be a problem.

Alternatively we could try to argue for a lesser goal. Perhaps we aren't going to convince Patty that Sabrina is actually all good and nice. But perhaps we could convince her to just let us see Sabrina? We are after all her friend. Sending her away without even letting us have a last conversation would be just cruel. So getting her to take us to Sabrina just to say "goodbye" may be achievable.

Of course once we have had our talk with Sabrina we swap a keyword to teleportation or something and hop out of there with her.

I agree with this, yeah.

And also with probably not being able to convince her, or it being of limited utility if we do.

We are limited to just the three options. I'm inclined to stick with convince and probably fail, then maybe try to follow her back to wherever afterwards?

For keywords I guess we can probably drop tracker with the least issues. If we are going to continue with talking then maybe Iron-Willed or Rhetoric.

Iron Willed would be helpful if she has some sort of "Authority" keyword or aura or something. Extra forcefulness to our arguments could help put her on the back foot too. We didn't exactly start very strongly here. But if we press enough we might be able to get for her to fold. With her overbearing attitude she probably isn't prepared for more forceful opposition.
Rhetoric on the other hand would help for the actual talking and convincing part. Maybe throw enough at her for her to start to doubt herself a little.

Of the two I favor Iron Willed. It might help if there is any combat too.

So I would say, switch tracker to Iron-Willed, argue back a little, just to present our position a bit better and maybe add the seeds of doubt for later, and then try to convince her to let us visit Sabrina by playing off her sympathy (and also by not taking no for an answer).

Hmm. Can we manage our other assets now too? I'm thinking we might divert the Ghost to follow her if we can delay her with talking for long enough for it to catch up. Maybe divert the Necroshroom to the core to recycle into keywords too if we can? Having other keywords to take biomass from would help us not recycle the ones we need now.

Alright. I can see you're clearly coming at this from a place of naivety

Wanting to rehabilitate instead of destroy is not naivety.

I know where she comes from, I know that the world around her really isn't helping, but this is something I am firm on.

"He is dead. A nineteen year old boy, dead, because of her. And he is not alone. Her actions have caused immeasurable suffering across the district."

He is, and that is a tragedy, but an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, and Sabrina does seems repentant, you can work on making her a productive help for society, instead of giving her to a justice system that we know is corrupt.

Without her creating a flow of drugs into this part of the district, who knows how many people would not be suffering, now? Without her encouraging criminality and delinquency, who knows how many people would not be walking the streets in fear?

That is a false argument, it assumes she is the cause of people resorting to drugs and criminality, instead of being the current supplier and nothing more.

If she wasn't there, there could very well have been just as much or more, because another gang would have been there.

People resorting to criminal behavior in particular tends to be a symptom of the place they grew up in, not something Sabrina is responsible, but the local guards with their *war on crime* attitude are.

Beginning to be tempted, it seems our flesh is less feral than it was before if it can give this kind of arguments, still wary about the very probable hunger though.

Agree with most of your points, as I wrote myself on my little commentary, she is not the source of the local drugs and criminality, she was the supplier, the source of people doing these things is more shaped like the guards who most things indicate are corrupt on the highest levels.

Of course once we have had our talk with Sabrina we swap a keyword to teleportation or something and hop out of there with her.

And we can use the talk to try to convince them one last time too.

So I would say, switch tracker to Iron-Willed, argue back a little, just to present our position a bit better and maybe add the seeds of doubt for later, and then try to convince her to let us visit Sabrina by playing off her sympathy (and also by not taking no for an answer).

So:

[] Convince her:
-[] Swap *Tracker* for *Iron Willed*
-[] No! Some of her *arguments* are assumptions! You can redeem Sabrina and it's not the local justice system that will do it! Redress your spine, and show your own pride!
-[] Say you want to see Sabrina, if she asks why, tell her you want to talk to her about what she did, you want to know more about what happened and learning all from a single source is not a good thing.

First line is an internal pep speech, just to precise, to help Scarlet with her crisis.

I'm worried that she think we're trying to break her out so maybe some kind of deception base keyword
No I kind of feel like the key word hope Punk could work here and I kind of just realized a key word about understanding law and policy and how it affects people and what their intentions are would be extremely useful for stuff like this to convince other magical girls specifically (and others of the same political alignment)

I'm worried that she think we're trying to break her out so maybe some kind of deception base keyword

Don't think so, not with the way I structured things, the pep speech is internal, so from her point of view, we thought about her absolutely great and convincing speech, came to a conclusion about Sabrina, and asked to see her, she will almost definitely think we want to talk to *have her admit her crimes* or things like that, she is biased in seeing Sabrina as bad and thinks we are more naive than we are (she also thinks she is more convincing than she is and that her arguments are flawless), she won't even think about the idea that we could want to break her out.

She'll do the deception for herself without out help.

Beginning to be tempted, it seems our flesh is less feral than it was before if it can give this kind of arguments, still wary about the very probable hunger though.

It's always best to be wary when the arguments for why your problems can be solved if you just do this one thing start to get more convincing. The Flesh might well be able to fix this, but instant fixes usually have hidden costs. And that's beyond just consuming Patty.

Thing is, I don't think it's an instant fix it propose, or at least, not an instant fix to the conundrum of the rooftop magical girls, it is telling it will fix the overflow of emotion in DONOR's brain, and will take the reins while doing so, and that it may be better at being calm during this situation.

I would be interested in unleashing it in controlled circumstances, to learn more about it, or in actual dire situations, which this one is not, we can still negotiate/fight/accept her argu... *Get eaten by FLESH*.

Well, seems like nobody is going to post and voting is open... fudge it:

[x] Convince her:
-[x] Swap *Tracker* for *Iron Willed*
-[x] No! Some of her *arguments* are assumptions! You can redeem Sabrina and it's not the local justice system that will do it! Redress your spine, and show your own pride!
-[x] Say you want to see Sabrina, if she asks why, tell her you want to talk to her about what she did, you want to know more about what happened and learning all from a single source is not a good thing.

Here's the vote, if anyone wants to iterate, feel free, Humans works better with several eyes to look at the problem and work on it from different angles.

Hmm. Thinking things over, string resistance might cause Patty to double down. Here's a bit of a change in tone that I think might work better:

[] Convince her:
-[] Swap *Tracker* for *Willow-Willed*
-[] Some of her *arguments* are assumptions. You can redeem Sabrina and it's not the local justice system that will do it. You might not be able to convince Patty right this minute but hold fast to your conviction; bend in the wind but do not break!
-[] Say you want to see Sabrina, if she asks why, tell her you want to talk to her about what she did, you want to know more about what happened and learning all from a single source is not a good thing.

Although, thinking about it, we might have a chance at winning her over with a different line of argument:

[] Convince her:
-[x] Swap *Tracker* for *Realpolitik*
-[x] Patty may be right about Sabrina being 'bad', but what was the alternative? The illegal drug trade existed before, and it will exist after so long as the demand exists. Sabrina was a far more benign version than is likely to exist again: she didn't kill people who weren't muscling in on her territory and she made the drugs herself safely.
-[x] How will turning Sabrina in improve things? It will create a power vacuum in the local black market which will be filled by an unknown entity which may be worse. It will mean that whatever new source of drugs is potentially more dangerous due to additives or underhanded Magics. It will also deprive us of the opportunity to get Sabrina to potentially provide beneficial medicines cheaply, or some other method of making amends.

Though now having written that out, I'm wondering if we'll just get bulldozed again? Maybe if instead of changing tracker to something rhetorical we were a little underhanded? How about this:

[x] Convince her:
-[x] Swap *Tracker* for *Hypnotic*
-[x] Patty should slow down and think about this for a second… just relax and watch us slowly sway as our nervousness melts into a gentle rhythm, back and forth as we both sink down into a calm, placid state of contemplation…
-[x] You're right Patty, Sabrina was a bad person, but that's in the past… I'm here now and I'll make sure she doesn't get up to any more shenanigans. You can trust me! Turning her in will just make things worse, and she won't be able to start to make up for the damage she did dead or in a cell. Vengeance won't bring him back… you should take me to her, and we can all discuss this further…
