Magical Girl Flesh Horror~!

That's it. Next time we get a chance I want to put three or four biomass into making super spy a combat form. It's all well and good to be economical with biomass and say we'll do it later, but super spy keeps getting pulled into these situations with all our snooping.

Wouldn't help there, since it's not a fight and we don't want it to be a fight.

Also, Super-Spy, as the names, says, is not supposed to be a combat form, it is a social one, and our main drone for interacting with the world.

And the situation is still not problematic, you have to remember that we can still change ourself one word at a time during emergencies, so pulling out a two word social suite is not a problem, we still don't have enough biomass to afford to keep it stuck on something we're not sure is needed right this moment, let's be honest, who expected to not only find the ones who captured Sabrina right this turn, but be stuck having to talk to them now?

Honestly we should have. The interlude was literally about a group of magical girls forming to bring Sabrina to justice. My main point is that super spy keeps getting into problems. We should leave one emergency toolkit on it at all times whether that's fighting or social. Two or three biomass is not a big deal at this point.

I don't think that we need violence for this emergency but I agree that relying entirely on social is too dangerous and our magical girl body will need offence anyway.

(Side note: Is Herman the same one from Herman Fuller's Circus of the Disquieting!™ just from this universe?)
Nope, though I definitely drew on the same general inspirations, I'm sure! To peek behind the curtain for a second, Herman draws from the general tradition of "shady as hell early entertainment businessmen", like P.T. Barnum. I picked his name because when I reversed it, it sounded suitably both like a name and like a name that someone like Herman would use for his marketing (AKA sufficiently exoticized).
Also, does this count as going out as a magical girl?
Nope, unfortunately. This is all personal business. Remember - Your True Name is Magical Girl Scarlet Genesis! In a sense, everything you do is "as a magical girl", but for the purposes of that quest, you have to specifically indicate, both with keywords and with orders, that you are fulfilling that internal desire.
That's a real good idea. Maybe mention that the theater is SO EVIL that even Sabrina at the height of her wickedness wouldn't do business with them?
Unfortunately that'd be a lie, because she did do business with him, remember? :V She stopped, sure, but she definitely did do that.
Here's the Martin Nega quest!
That's really fun! Thanks for writing it - As a reward, feel free to ask me any one question about the setting and I will answer it as fully as I can!

Hmm, something not too spoilery but that would lead to an interesting answer....

Thought are:

-About us

-About Magical girls

-About Gods

Actually, given the current situation... taking the weather into account and the phase of the moon... oh god, I almost forgot to watch the position of venus compared to mercury!

Ok, as is clear right now, I am not sure, I don't want to ask something about the current situation, so:

Is there a god of magical girls?

Will be my question, the answer don't really influence our actions, but it does interest me.

I meant more that she stopped when she found out what he was actually doing? Or was that just a convenient lie she told us?

Edit: yeah, I was referring specifically to this line:
I…look, as soon as I figured out his whole deal, I stopped selling to him, but I still did it

There are...gods who can apply to magical girls? And some who would happily claim them as part of their domains/conceptual realms/general idea. Some magical girls definitely do their thing as an aspect of their existing faith, or who utilize powers granted to them by a god as part of their toolset. But the idea of a singular "unified purpose, only I get to be the god of magical girls" god? Nope.

To try and make this clearer, with some random examples: Let's say you have Urgot, who is a god that was formed by a small community after they were forced to leave their home to help defend them on their long journey until they wound up in Orion City. He protects the lost, refugees, and fugitives, offering shelter and safe guidance. He would probably say that Magical Girls are guides to the lost, that they are fugitives from the law, and thus would easily fall under his domain if they so choose.

At the same time, Salaria, a goddess formed by a group of 'already mages' who wanted to engineer a god that would help them to push for, say, magocracy, and thus embodies a conceptual idea of 'right to power coming from magic', would obviously say that they're part of her general remit as well - They easily fall under the idea of the right to power coming from magical strength and the enforcement of justice springing thereof.

Both of these are theoretically "gods of magical girls". But the concept of a magical girl is still really loose - There's no real unifying ideology, community, or theme beyond mild aesthetics and general intent to "do good", which isn't exactly enough to create a god. Plus, they're still relatively new - It takes a few years of belief and building up their power before a god can do much! If they persist as a societal trend rather than fading out, you might see a few gods formed by communities of magical girls, who get together for that purpose, similar to gods who are formed by the Guard or other organizations, but at the moment, no, there is not a specific agreed-upon "god of magical girls".

Interesting, so it is indeed a phenomenon independent of them.

Don't think I don't see the reference to the magocrat we had the pleasure to interrogate recently. :V

Ok, so the place is vacant if, say, a magical girl who is also a biomagical horror wanted to take the place or make her own then?

Of course, we obviously don't know any such candidate and nobody is now making plans to have her ascend to head of a global church.

You know, if you think about it, us passing out randomly in front of a magical girl would probably lead to us getting taken back to their base out of general concern, if in a much less controlled manner.

If it was just passing out, it would be fine... but it's letting the Flesh take over, meaning that the most likely result is trying to eat her.

And the vote's open, there was a good proposition already, credits to @The Laurent for the plan:

[x] Convince her.
-[x] Sabrina HAD done bad things.
-[x] But she was trying to be better.
-[x] She helped me when I was just getting started, has stopped running a gang, and...
-[x] She's helping me work against the Theater of Souls! A DASTARDLY EVIL that isn't just hurting people in the past, but hurting them now.
--[x] Explain all about the Theater of Souls, the harm they do, and the EMERGENCY MISSION that you took part in, and how Sabrina helped you with that.
-[x] Suggest that we can talk about what to do about Sabrina, but that there are also greater evils no matter what you think of her in the neighborhood/nearby.
-[x] Ask to hear her counterarguments/etc, try to make this a convo and not (JUST) a glorious speech and the evils you've been fighting.

Yeah, I like this too.

I'm leaning this way too. I was tempted by the 'just collapse and see what happens' argument, but rereading the Crash You Brain option… doesn't sound like super spy would just collapse? Like, if it'll be fine… there's no reason to say it will be right?

To be clear - You would literally shut off your brain in order to essentially "cleanse" it of the chemical/emotional overload you're undergoing, which is a thing you can do if you need to. What happens while that's going on is for the non-brain parts of you to decide. Do you trust your non-brain self?

I mean:
and your FLESH is telling you to just let it shut down and let it take over for a brief moment and it'll be all good again

(Emphasis mine)

When you remember that the only thing we saw of our flesh acting alone is:
HUNGER.

You are in a lightless void. You are hungry. You need to eat. You are so hungry. You extend appendages outwards instinctually. Seeking food.

WEIGHT. LARGE.

It rests all around you. You feel yourself inside it. It does not move, it makes no sound, and it simply sits, motionless, your form the only source of movement and heat.

FOOD?

One of your tendrils pulls part of it into yourself, and you feel, for the first time, the delight of nutrients entering yourself.

FOOD!

You rapidly pull the object into yourself - The inner flesh is stripped first, easily integrated into the collective. You mimic collections of organs, growing networks of nerves, and muscular systems before re-integrating them into your FLESH. Acids, structures, fluids, all those and more enter your rapidly expanding sphere of knowledge - Mimicked without true understanding, yet.

Yeah, not letting that happen, it might be better now if the brain influenced it, but I am not trying it when in front of a potential source of FOOD!

Chances are high that the Girl wouldn't be a problem because we are now digesting her.

Mmm. Yeah, leaning absolutely not…

Although, this raises an interesting question. Where do the keywords 'live'? I notice that we don't have a 'brain' keyword, even in the immutable category. Does that mean that the keywords are an imposition by the brain on the rest of the flesh? If we shut off the brain do all of the keywords cease? Perhaps only the biomass ones, with the physical remaining?

I'm not sure it's worth risking right this second, but it might be worth seeing what happens in a controlled setting. Maybe spend a turn gathering everything back in the basement, getting some stuff, some plants, small animals, etc and setting up the eye to record what happens when the brain is shot off? Be good to know what would happen.

I also wonder if some sort of redundancy would be worthwhile? Like, 'redundant brains' or organs or something. So that if something does happen to the brain and it's attacked/destroyed/shut off we can keep going.

I agree. I wonder what would happen if we added a keyword to our core that implies thinking? Like
  • Scientist
  • Intelligent
  • Free-Thinking
  • Philosopher
Anyone want to help with the brainstorming?

I mean I've had this idea for a unit that I would like to call think tank 05 (the name comes from the 05 council of the SCP foundation) and the idea was that it would use certain keywords so it can help us come up with the most advantageous decisions
(Some keywords I was thinking of using was genius cold and calculating politician / politically minded and ethical so you know it doesn't suggest a modest proposal for lack of available biomatter)

I'm not sure that would really work? We've seen that we only really operate on knowledge that we know in character. We've gotten a bit better over time at talking to people, fitting in and relating to them n such. I feel like we definitely can't just know things by adding in a keyword that says we do.

On top of that if we made an asset like you're suggesting it would still be us. Still us thinking and so on. It might help us learn more quickly or discover things from first principles, or get a better read on people? Though I'd still be deeply suspect of anything that came out of it. Scarlet's way of looking at things is pretty… weird from you're average persons? Something that's been really excellent about the writing!
