I thought that instead meant we'd be fist-fighting the God of Injustice. It's certainly a leap to go from "newborn god" to "pick a fight with other gods," but hey, ambition is good.
While the idea of a Godly Fight Club sounds hilariously fun, Aequitas is sadly the only present god in existance right now. As for the big GOD? Youll see when we come around to that

I'd like to do this at some point, but probably not right for this turn.

You mean murderer.

We should not. He was cursed for what we did and is a bad person. He is not worth the effort and does not deserve it. He deserves to be in prison for murder.

Cyberpunk 2077, makes no one moral. Especially not the police force.

He was born in a bad spot, and resorted to crime as a last resort as that was the only thing he could rely on to get food on the plate. Does his own morals which he gained from those around him make him good? No, it does however give a rather poor excuse, and an opportunity for redemption.

those that did wrong shouldn't be unduly punished but redeemed. Punishments don't help the world become a better place.

Why do you believe this kind of murderer would be unduly punished if he was in prison for a life sentence? The existence of the supernatural does not change that he is a murderer.
I believe we have two different views on the justice system.

I believe the justice System should be used to rehabilitate people to integrate back into society. I don't care less about punishment than the obvious, if someone's going to murder someone prevent them from murdering someone. I frankly believe the Red hands to be a bit harsh already.

I believe you see the justice system as a punishment system. You seemed to ignore the circumstances and just went with facts.

In fact, Cyberpunk especially needs rehabilitation as finding truly good people should be really hard to find.

Yes. Both descriptions are technically true.

I don't think anyone is saying he's a good person, or that we should let him off the hook. I don't even think he should be redeemed necessarily. Hopefully, he would at least make a useful power battery. And honestly even if he we scared him into changing his ways that wouldn't be redemption. He needs to feel actual remorse and have an honest change of heart, for that. That is of coarse assuming murder can actually be redeemed, you can't exactly offer help to those you've hurt if the person you've hurt is dead.

Moral implications aside I am a sucker for redemption arcs.

I'm calling it, there's either going to be a Corpo God or one of the megacorporations is going to try to take control of a god when they find out about them, or both. We're also going to need to decide how we're going to handle Edgerunners, considering they operate outside of the law, but plenty of them have good reasons to do so.

Especially not the police force.

Do you think Montoya is no better than Finn? Do you think he is worse? I do not know why else you would include this. We are not talking about the NCPD as a whole and we saw what happened.

Justice is not binary and those are not the only parts of justice. Nobody said he should be killed for committing murder.

I frankly believe the Red hands to be a bit harsh already.

It was inhumane to warp his perception of reality. It is not inhumane to say a murderer should be in prison. I am not ignoring the circumstances. His hard life is part of consideration for the crime he committed. So is how he blamed the murder on the "bitch" for screaming. This was murder. Not manslaughter. He threatened to kill her if she did not shut up and did that. We saw that from a neutral point of view. Those considerations are minor in comparison to what he did.

or that we should let him off the hook.

It would be if we turned him into another champion. I see that as a reward. He gets superpowers and a life of purpose. That is a privilege.

Moral implications aside I am a sucker for redemption arcs.

Would you and goable feel this way if he did more than kill her and run away after he did it? This is Night City so leaving the body could mean the family will never get to find out what happened. It means they may never get to bury or cremate the body. Who knows what will happen to the body? It could rot or worse. Murder happens all the time in fiction. In quests, many players can be very selective on what to have any empathy for and what to care about. Murder is one of the worst crimes if not the worst.

We're also going to need to decide how we're going to handle Edgerunners, considering they operate outside of the law, but plenty of them have good reasons to do so.

We are playing a god of justice, not law or the laws of night city. We should judge them on what they do and why.

Yeah, I don't subscribe to retributive justice so that kind of argument ain't gonna work on me. Murder's bad, but especially since this one is clearly accidental, and he's clearly having a mental breakdown about it you're not going to convince me that he is uniquely undeserving of a second chance, especially since this is a setting where seemingly everyone does murders all the time.

but especially since this one is clearly accidental

How did he accidentally stab her to death? There is nothing about a struggle. He did not say it was an accident. All he said is that he did not want to kill her, in the same scene he blames her for "forcing" him to kill her.

"And shut it or else!"

"Someone please!" Her cry cuts out as she lets out as a knife buries itself into her side. The tight grip around her bag loosened as her eyes bulged. Her bag is pulled from her fingers as she stumbles back, hands clutching the bleeding wound.

She stared at the man and slowly fell to the ground, her body twitching in her death throes as her life came to an end and soon, she went still, her eyes still wide and staring at her murderer who stood above her. The man left panting with a bloodied knife in hand as it shook. The shock was apparent on his face.

He threatened to kill her if she would not shut up. The "fucking bitch" did not shut up. He then did what he said he was going to do if she did not shut up. Then he blamed her. It was not accidental when he pulled the knife out of the wound. He stood there and watched her die.

"Fucking bitch. Told you to stay the fuck quiet." He mumbled, his voice trembling as the knuckles on his knife wielding hand whitened, the grip audibly creaking as he beheld what he had done. "Didn't want to do this.. Not my fault…Bitch just had to scream…"

He did not say it was an accident. He said she deserved it for screaming and said it was not his fault. He blamed the victim. Nobody forced him to stab her. He took her money and left. He made no effort to save her life in any way. The mental break down is a result of an eldritch being forcing Finn to see his hands covered in blood.

I mean, I'm not going to argue with you since it's clear there's a fundamental disagreement in both how we interpret what was written, and our basic understanding of the world, but suffice to say I disagree with your interpretation of events.

As for the both of you, allow me to answer. While Finn certainly didn't mean to kill her, he still did it in a panic and once he had gotten over his initial freak out, he'd still go back to mugging people but would be a little more open to actively stabbing them if things don't go his way again.

He was written to be a selfish individual that only cared about himself in the end. Yes, he will feel guilty for all the bad things he's done but in the end, he's looking out for himself and if people are going to get in the way of that, he'll rationalize that he's in the right for doing what he did.

Our 'curse' just so happened to take root just as he was still feeling guilty over it. He was never going to fess up to the crime.

First, off that is not what I am suggesting. Not all of our worshippers are going to be like Detective Montoya. I definitely don't think we should reward him. It's also likely that because of what we did he'll confess and get prison time. Like you want.

Second, this matches what I said about redeeming murder being a moral conundrum. Perhaps I should have specified that I like fictional redemption arcs in general.

Third, you should probably know that I one time wrote a story about an evil wizard who killed a bunch of people, having a redemption arc. Although to be fair he had split his memories of being a murderous wizard off from his body to avoid capture, and realizing what he had done without knowing who did it opened up some empathy inside him. Leading to him trying to regain his memories from the other version of himself who was hiding in a familiar. Which lead to him turning himself in. And he was given a punishment that prevented him from using his magic but let him wander the world.

The point of all that being, I am guilty of writing about redeeming murder, so if that's your problem with me, well….

April 2075 2nd Week results//Cyberpsycho Attack in Cherry Blossom Market!
[X] Formally make Tanner Montoya a member of your Faith. (-10 Mana)

You float in the middle of Tanner Montoya's apartment with the man himself standing before you. The blinds were closed and the door was locked. Your sole follower had made certain that no one would be able to catch a glimpse inside his domicile; being a man who valued his privacy, it was a bit amusing to see how easily he had obscured your presence from prying eyes. Why, it's almost as if he's done this before!

"Are you sure we gotta do this, Aves?" He rubbed the back of his neck as he turned away from the door after double checking the lock, the man looking as nervous as he was feeling. "I already believe in you and everything, isn't that enough?"

'Normally it would, You say with a nod, steepling the fingers of your middle hands while the lower pair clasped together behind your back and the upper ones crossed over your chest. 'But you are our first and only follower, Tanner Montoya. It would not do if I did not take care of you.'

The man blushed, "Uhm… okay uh, thanks I guess?" What could he say to that? As much of a snarky fellow he was, he was smart enough to hold back the comeback that immediately came to mind. He did not want to call his god a…. 'Divine Sugar Daddy' and absolutely didn't want to witness his reaction, or worse, ask him what a Sugar Daddy means.

"So what do I need to do?" He asks, trying to lose that train of thought and focus on the task at hand, "Do I need to light some incense, say a prayer or…?"

You raise a hand in a gesture for him to relax. 'Do not worry, Tanner Montoya. Most of the work will be on my end, you just simply say what comes to heart.' You extend your arms outwards and the tips of your fingers glow. As you move them through the air, making motions as if you were weaving something into being, lines of light trailing after your fingertips. Focusing your power, you begin the ceremony and your Light grows brighter causing Tanner to take a step back as he shields his eyes.

'Tanner Montoya.' You say, sounding as if multiple copies of you were speaking all at once as you direct your Gaze directly on to the man, who gulped as the pressure of a divine being began to bear down on him. 'I have seen your heart and will judge your deeds. You protect the innocent and your companions with your life, Why?' You have asked your first question.

Swallowing the lump in his throat, Tanner stepped forwards to properly look upon you with no fear. Good. "Because they deserve to live." He answers.

'And you don't?' You ask him, pushing for more information.

Tanner's eyes dipped before quickly finding the resolve to look upon you once more. "I swore an oath to protect the city and everyone in it, I won't go back on that."

A good and strong answer, you approve. Your power continues to flow and bend to your will as you nod and ask him your next question. 'You have held all those who come before you with equal respect despite their history. Why?'

Feeling bolder, he straightened his back, "Same answer as the first. I swore to protect the city and everyone in it. Even the criminals. They all deserve to be treated fairly, even the Scavs." As much as he loathed to admit it.

'And yet, you cause them harm.' You pointed out.

"I did." The man admits, "I won't lie and say I've never hurt anyone, but I'll do whatever it takes if it means I have to save people and if roughing up a few bad eggs to keep them from spoiling the bunch, then I'll do it."

An acceptable answer, it was time for the final one. 'Will you do so again in my name?'

The man takes a deep breath, his eyes lock on to where yours would be if you had them and with firm conviction, he nods. "I will."

At those words, the power you have been expending shot towards your sole follower and began to seep into his very core and the man grunted as he felt your power changing him. Making him stronger, faster, and sturdier. His eyes flared with golden light for a brief moment and with that he fell to his knees, panting as his body grew used to his now slightly more powerful form. On the lapel of his jacket, was a small pin of a set of weighing scales over the picture of a crumbling city, it seemed to glimmer with golden fire in the light. Heh.

The criminals of Night City won't know what hit them.

But the paperwork? Nothing can stop paperwork. Nothing.

Tanner had spent most of his working hours for the better part of the week stuck at his desk filling out forms and writing up overdue reports of the Barnaby Case and the results of it. What was worse was that Captain Wei wanted his reports in triplicate. Thank Aves he learned how to write with his cyberarm, he couldn't even begin to imagine the cramps he'd be getting if he hadn't!

The force welcomed him back to work with a free cup of coffee though, which was nice. The fiasco that should've been a quiet patrol, wasn't.

[Tanner Montoya has filled out some paperwork but there's still more to come. Yay?]

April 08, 2075
Det. Tanner Montoya

Night City, Westbrook

"So how's the chest?" Tanner took another sip of his coffee as he sat in the patrol car with his assigned partner for the day.

"Hurts like a bitch." He answered with a grin, a bit of a lie. Since Aves had inducted him into the Faith, he's been healing pretty quickly, at this rate, he'll be fully recovered by next week! "But I'll get used to it."

"Ha!" Officer Cox barked out a laugh. "Always with the tough guy attitude." He grinned right back, "Some of the guys and gals thought you'd be out for a couple more weeks, the hell are you doing back so soon anyway? At least you got some pretty nice jewelry out of the whole thing."

Tanner adjusted the Holy Symbol of his new god, having put it on the collar of his uniform on working days. "Thanks, you could say it's a bit of a good luck charm and I missed seeing your pretty face~" He teased, blowing his fellow officer a kiss who merely shook his head and laughed.

"Asshole."

"Just telling the truth, babe~"

Officer Cox rolled his eyes and opened his mouth to make a comeback but whatever he planned to say was interrupted as their radio came to life. "Calling all available units near Cherry Blossom Market, we have reports of a mass shooting in progress. Possible Casualties."

"Shit." Officer Cox's eyes widened and quickly strapped himself in as Tanner gulped down the rest of his coffee. Flicking on the sirens, Cox took the wheel and sped towards the market while Tanner got on the radio. "This is Cruiser 3, we are on route."

"10-4 Cruiser 3. Cruiser 6 is on scene awaiting backup."

Tires squealed as Cox stepped on the gas, the blaring siren causing all nearby vehicles to move out the way as he sped down the street. "Roger that, dispatch." Tanner felt the pin on his collar begin to burn hot and the detective could not help but reach up to clasp it, muttering. "Here we go, Aves."

They arrived on the scene, people were running out of Cherry Blossom Market in a panic as some were pressing themselves up against the walls. A police cruiser was parked right outside Cherry Blossom Market, its assigned officers nowhere to be seen but the gunfire and ensuing screams quickly told them where they went.

"Cox, with me!" Tanner yelled as he and Officer Cox got out the cruiser, weapons in hand and carefully made their way in, bypassing cowering civilians who were either curled up into tight balls to look as small as possible, hiding in one of the stalls or were lying dead.

"Damnit. Dispatch, multiple civilian casualties confirmed." Cox reported into his radio, clutching his Saratoga tightly. Tanner made to double check his Lexington, making sure the safety was off and the chamber had a bullet in it.

Catching the eye of a few civilians, he gestured for them to get out while they could; they did not need any more convincing and ran as soon as they could, several others going along with them.

More gunfire and screams, the two officers sprang into action and ran towards the noise, just in time to bump into another officer on the scene, taking cover in a food stall, a dead woman by his feet, her head almost completely severed from her body with a small flap of flesh keeping it connected.
"What's the situation!?" Tanner barked out, the officer merely gave them a glance, peeked out of cover before turning to face them.

"Possible Cyberpsycho attack, came out of the local ripperdoc and started shooting." He rattled off the situation to the both of them and flinched as the top of the stall exploded with bullets whizzing over their heads. "Fuck! Get down!"

Tanner ducked low as far as he possibly could and ignored the slight pang in his chest as Cox did the same, quickly stood out of cover to fire back where the bullets came from. "What cyberware has he got?!"

"Mantis Blade on left arm," The uniformed officer said, sweat beading down his brow, "But from the way it's glitching, it looks like he was in the middle of getting it installed when he went over the edge! Possibly chromed with Kereznikov with the way he's moving around and dodging bullets. Now he's taking pot shots with that rifle of his!"

"Anything else we should know?" Tanner asked, pausing to flinch as he felt something go past the top of his head.

"Yeah, my partner tried to check on the Ripperdoc when he got clipped in the shoulder. Asshole's got him pinned down!"

"ENOUGH WITH THE BUZZING!" A mad scream rang out, followed by a spray of bullets that tore through the nearby stalls, cooking pots, vinyl records and all other things the market had to offer were being torn to shreds. "Mad Flies, Mad Flies, Enough with the Buzzing!"

Damn, looks like the Cyberpsycho's getting agitated, they need to wrap this up soon or things might just get worse!

How should Det. Montoya do?
[ ] Establish a plan of attack

A/N: Woo! I admit, this is way more convenient! Sure it took me awhile to write it up but organizing the timeline should be much easier for me from here on out! Not sure if I did police justice, I don't know much of the jargon and I'm not familiar with how they'd work so I just took a shot in the dark! If there's any suggestions or corrections, do let me know! Happy Voting!

Edit: Iiiii forgot a thing I meant to put in the choices. Whoopsie!
